Date: 80-30 B.C.E.

The Psalms of Solomon is a collection of 18 hyms written by an unknown group of Palestinian Jews in the mid-to-late 1st century B.C.E. This community was vehemently opposed to the ruling Hasmoneans and considered them illegitimate and not of the family of David. The Psalms contain Messianic themes and were incorporated into some early Christian readings, liturgy, and treated as scripture.
