Proverbs 8:25

Hebrew Bible

23 From eternity I have been fashioned, from the beginning, from before the world existed. 24 When there were no deep oceans I was born, when there were no springs overflowing with water; 25 before the mountains were set in place—before the hills—I was born, 26 before he made the earth and its fields, or the top soil of the world.

LXX Proverbs 8:25

Septuagint

23 before eternity he founded me in the beginning, before making the earth 24 and before making the depths, before the springs of the waters came forth, 25 before the mountains were settled, and before all the hills, he begets me. 26 The Lord made territories and uninhabited regions and inhabited extremities of the earth under the skies.

 Notes and References
"... LXX Proverbs 8:25 ... πρὸ δὲ πάντων βουνῶν γεννᾷ με, “before all the hills he begets me.” After the aorist verbs of verses 22–24, describing God’s acts of creation “in the beginning,” the present tense of γεννᾷ, which describes an activity which is explicitly said to come before creation, is startling. When we consider that the underlying Hebrew appears to be חוֹלָ֑לְתִּי, “I was brought forth,” it is remarkable that the translator chose the present γεννᾷ rather than the aorist ἐγέννησεν, which would have matched the parallel ἐθεμελίωσεν in verse 23. Remarkably, Cook in his detailed examination of this verse compared to its Hebrew Vorlage does not discuss the present tense of γεννᾷ here. It is not surprising that the church fathers, who equated Wisdom with the second person of the Trinity, saw support in γεννᾷ here for the doctrine of the “eternal generation” of the Son ..."
