In 3 Enoch, Metatron teaches children who died in infancy. Rabbinic tradition in tractate Avodah Zarah has God teach young children, giving the angel an educational role that God himself performs.

3 Enoch 48C:12
Hebrew Book of Enoch
Pseudepigrapha, Apocalypses
And not only that but Metatron sits three hours every day in the high heavens, and he gathers all the souls of those dead who died in their mother's womb, and the sucklings who died on their mother's breasts, and of the scholars who died over the five books of the Law. And he brings them under the Throne of Glory and places them in companies, divisions and classes round the Presence: and he teaches them the Law, and (the books) of Wisdom, and Haggada and Tradition and finishes (completes) their instruction (education) [for them]. As it is written (Is. xxviii. 9): "Whom will he teach knowledge? and whom will he make to understand tradition? them that are weaned from the milk and drawn from the breasts".

The Gemara asks: If God no longer makes sport, what does He now do during the fourth three-hour period of the day? The Gemara answers: He sits and teaches Torah to schoolchildren, as it is stated: “Whom shall one teach knowledge? And whom shall one make to understand the message? Them that are weaned from the milk, them that are drawn from the breasts” (Isaiah 28:9). The verse is interpreted in the following manner: To whom does God teach knowledge, and to whom does He make to understand the message? To those who are just weaned from the milk and to those who are drawn from the breasts, i.e., children only recently weaned from nursing.

“... It is noteworthy that, in contrast to the early Enochic traditions where the
seventh antediluvian patriarch is often depicted as the terrestrial teacher,
that is, the one who was instructing his own children on the earth in various
matters including halakhic questions; Metatron’s teaching expertise is now
extended to the celestial classroom.84
b. Avod. Zar. 3b depicts Metatron as a teacher of the souls of those who
died in their childhood:85
What then does God do in the fourth quarter? – He sits and instructs the school
children, as it is said, Whom shall one teach knowledge, and whom shall one make
to understand the message? Them that are weaned from the milk. Who instructed
them theretofore? – If you like, you may say Metatron, or it may be said that God
did this as well as other things. And what does He do by night? – If you like you
may say, the kind of thing He does by day; or it may be said that He rides a light
cherub, and floats in eighteen thousand worlds; for it is said, The chariots of God
are myriads, even thousands shinan.86 ...”
