Genesis never says how anyone could know what happened at creation, when no person saw it. Augustine treats the Wisdom of Solomon as scripture that answers this, so the wisdom present at creation is what taught Moses.

Wisdom of Solomon 7:27

Deuterocanon
25 For she is a breath of the power of God, and a pure emanation of the glory of the Almighty. So nothing defiled can find its way into her. 26 For she is a reflection of everlasting light, a spotless mirror of the working of God, and an image of his goodness. 27 Though she is one, she can do all things. Remaining in herself, she renews all things. From generation to generation she enters holy souls and makes them friends of God and prophets. 28 For God loves nothing as much as the one who dwells with wisdom.

Augustine, City of God 11.4

On the City of God Against the Pagans
Early Christian
Of all visible things, the world is the greatest; of all invisible, the greatest is God. But, that the world is, we see; that God is, we believe. That God made the world, we can believe from no one more safely than from God Himself. But where have we heard Him? Nowhere more distinctly than in the Holy Scriptures, where His prophet said, “In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.” Genesis 1:1 Was the prophet present when God made the heavens and the earth? No; but the wisdom of God, by whom all things were made, was there, Proverbs 8:27 and wisdom insinuates itself into holy souls, and makes them the friends of God and His prophets, and noiselessly informs them of His works.
