Genesis describes Pharaoh granting Joseph’s family the best land in Egypt, food, and royal favor. The story of Hadad’s flight to Egypt in 1 Kings 11 echoes these same elements: a house, food, land, and marriage into Pharaoh’s court.

Genesis 47:6
Hebrew Bible
4 Then they said to Pharaoh, “We have come to live as temporary residents in the land. There is no pasture for your servants’ flocks because the famine is severe in the land of Canaan. So now, please let your servants live in the land of Goshen.” 5 Pharaoh said to Joseph, “Your father and your brothers have come to you. 6 The land of Egypt is before you; settle your father and your brothers in the best region of the land. They may live in the land of Goshen. If you know of any highly capable men among them, put them in charge of my livestock.” 7 Then Joseph brought in his father Jacob and presented him before Pharaoh. Jacob blessed Pharaoh.
1 Kings 11:18
Hebrew Bible
16 For Joab and the entire Israelite army stayed there six months until they had exterminated every male in Edom. 17 Hadad, who was only a small boy at the time, escaped with some of his father’s Edomite servants and headed for Egypt. 18 They went from Midian to Paran; they took some men from Paran and went to Egypt. Pharaoh, king of Egypt, gave him a house and some land and supplied him with food. 19 Pharaoh liked Hadad so well he gave him his sister-in-law (Queen Tahpenes’ sister) as a wife. 20 Tahpenes’ sister gave birth to his son, named Genubath. Tahpenes raised him in Pharaoh’s palace; Genubath grew up in Pharaoh’s palace among Pharaoh’s sons. 21 While in Egypt Hadad heard that David had passed away and that Joab, the commander of the army, was dead. So Hadad asked Pharaoh, “Give me permission to leave so I can return to my homeland.”

“... The king of Egypt gives Hadad food (“assigned a food allowance to him” [1 Kings 11:18]), corresponding to what was given to Jacob and his household on their arrival to Egypt, as told to Joseph by Pharaoh: “Tell your brothers . . . come to me; I will give you the best of the land of Egypt and you shall live off the fat of the land” (Genesis 45:18); and as we read later on: “Joseph sustained his father, and his brothers, and all his father’s household with bread, down to the little ones” (47:12). Pharaoh grants Hadad land in which to settle (“and granted him an estate” [1 Kings 11:18]), parallel to Pharaoh’s presenting the Land of Goshen to the Israelites on their arrival to Egypt (see, for example, Genesis 47:6, 11). In the tale of Hadad we read that “Hadad found great favor with Pharaoh” (1 Kings 11:19). We can compare this with what is told about Joseph in the Egyptian prison: “The Lord was with Joseph, He extended kindness to him and made him find favor with the chief jailer” (Genesis 39:21). ...”
