Exodus 33:13
12 Moses said to the Lord, “See, you have been saying to me, ‘Bring this people up,’ but you have not let me know whom you will send with me. But you said, ‘I know you by name, and also you have found favor in my sight.’ 13 Now if I have found favor in your sight, show me your way, that I may know you, that I may continue to find favor in your sight. And see that this nation is your people.” 14 And the Lord said, “My presence will go with you, and I will give you rest.”

12 And Moses said to the Lord, “Look, you yourself say to me, ‘Lead this people up,’ but you yourself have not made known to me whom you will send along with me! Yet you said to me, ‘I know you more than any other, and indeed you have favor before me.’ 13 If, therefore, I have found favor before you, show yourself to me, that I may see you clearly, so that I might find favor before you, and that I might know that this great nation is your people.” 14 And he responded, “I myself will go along with you, and I will put you at ease.”

"... At first glance, the Septuagint of Exodus 33:13 (“Show me Yourself”) seems troublesome, especially in comparison to the Masoretic text (“Let me know Your ways”). In this context, it is emphasized twice that it was impossible even for Moses to see God (Exodus 33:19, 23). One should remember that Exodus 33:13 contains the plea of Moses, not a description of God’s activity. This verse could also be read as preparation for Exodus 33:18. Perhaps, however, it is easier to assume a Vorlage in verse 13 that included “Your face” instead of “Your ways” and to conclude that the Masoretic text now represents an adjustment with regard to the issue under consideration. If that is the case, the Septuagint translator again would not be the initiator but a witness to the process of theological reformulation ..."
