Ben Sira, Ecclesiasticus
Deuterocanon
23 Draw near to me, you who are uneducated, and lodge in the house of instruction. 24 Why do you say you are lacking in these things, and why do you endure such great thirst? 25 I opened my mouth and said, Acquire wisdom for yourselves without money. 26 Put your neck under her yoke, and let your souls receive instruction; it is to be found close by. 27 See with your own eyes that I have labored but little and found for myself much serenity.

89 Jesus said, “Why do you wash the outside of the cup? Do you not realize that he who made the inside is the same one who made the outside?” 90 Jesus said, “Come to me, for my yoke is easy and my lordship is gentle, and you will find rest for yourselves.” 91 They said to him, “Tell us who you are so that we may believe in you.” He said to them, “You examine the face of heaven and earth, but you do not recognize the one who is before you, and you do not know how to examine this moment.”

[...] Ben Sirach also regards rest as a reward of Wisdom, "for at last you will find the rest (anapausin) she gives" (7:28). Further, in Ben Sirach, we find a passage (reminiscent of Matt 11:29-30 which is parallel to Thomas 90) related to rest, "Put your neck under the yoke, and let your souls receive instruction; it is to be found close by. See with your eyes that I have labored little and found for myself much rest" (51:26-27). The occurrence of the word "rest" in Logion 2 is entirely in accord with this tradition. [...] In this passage Jesus speaks as Wisdom, just as he does in Thomas' parallel Logion 90, "Come to me because my yoke is easy and my mastery is gentle and you will find your rest." ...”
