The genitive יהוה, ‘Yahweh,’ could be either objective—‘feasts for Yahweh’—or subjective—‘feasts set by Yahweh.’ Genesis 1:14 supports the latter by affirming that the heavenly bodies, i.e., the sun, the moon, and the stars, have been created by God to fix the times for these high days. These are also feasts for Yahweh, because they are occasions to worship and praise him for abundantly blessing the fields and the flocks and for calling Israel into existence.
