Summary
Date: 41-51 C.E.

The first letter to the Thessalonian community, this is the oldest preserved Christian document, likely written by 50 C.E., but some scholars propose an even earlier date of composition in the early 40s. Paul discusses Timothy's mission and his relationship to their community. The letter also contains ethical admonitions and exhortations, instructions on church life, and speaks of the return of Jesus possibly within the lifetime of its recipients.
