Fragment 1 i
1 [The words of the blessing with which] Enoch [blessed the righteous chosen ones who will be present on the day of distress, to remove all the enemies,] 2 [and the righteous will be saved. And he took up] his parable and said, [“Enoch, a righteous man to whom a vision from God was opened: the vision of the Holy One and of heaven] 3 [was shown to me,] and from the words of [the Watchers] and holy ones I [heard] it all, [and because I heard from them, I knew it all and understood.] 4 [Not for this] generation, but for a distant generation, I speak. [And concerning the chosen ones I now say, and about them I took up my parable and said:] 5 The Great Holy One will go out from [his dwelling, and the eternal God will come down upon the earth and tread on Mount Sinai, and he will appear] 6 [with his] great [army], and he will shine forth in [the strength of] his might [from the heaven of heavens. And all the Watchers will fear, and they will be punished in secret places] 7 [in all the] ends of the earth, and all the ends [of the earth] will shake, [and trembling and great fear will seize them, to the ends of the earth. And they will shake and fall,] 8 [and] the heights [will be loosened, and the high mountains will be brought low …]
Fragment 1 ii
1 [and in their seasons they] appear, and do not transgress their order. [Look] at the earth and consider its work, 2 [from the first to the] last, that nothing changes, and everything is visible [to you]. Look at the signs of 3 [summer …] … upon it, and at the signs of winter, that [all] the earth 4 [is filled with water, and] the clouds pour down rain. Look, all the trees, all of them wither 5 [and shed all their leaves, except] fourteen trees whose leaves remain 6 [and do not renew their leaves until] two or three years [pass]. Look at the signs of 7 [summer, in which the sun burns] and scorches, and you seek shade and shelter from it 8 [on the surface of the scorched earth, and to] tread on the dust and on the rocks you are not able because of 9 [the heat. Look and know: on all] the trees, all of them, their leaves blossom on them, green, and cover 10 [the trees, and all their fruit is for] glorious honor. Give praise and consider all these works, 11 [and understand that the God who lives] forever and ever made all these works. Year 12 [by year their work does not change, and] all of them do his word. But you have changed your work 13 [and do not do his word, and you] transgress against him with great and hard words, with your unclean mouth, 14 [against his greatness. O hard of] heart, there is no peace for you. Then you will curse your days, and the years of 15 [your life will perish … and the years of] your destruction will multiply in an [eternal] curse, [and mercy] 16 [and peace there will not be for you. Then] your [names will be] an eternal curse for [all the righteous, and by you will curse] 17 [all who curse, and all the sinners and the wicked will swear by you,] and for all [the sinners …]
Fragment 1 iii
1 And they all said to him, “Let us [all] swear [an oath, and let us all bind one another by a curse that we will not] 2 turn back, any of us, from this plan [until we do this deed.” Then they all swore] 3 together and bound [one another] by a curse. [And they were, all of them, two hundred who came down] 4 in the days of Jared upon [the summit of Mount Hermon. And they called the mountain Hermon because] 5 they swore and bound [one another] by a curse on it. And these are [the names of their chiefs:] 6 Shemihazah, who [was their head; Arataqoph,] second to him; Ramtael, [third] 7 to him; Kokabel, [fourth to him; … fifth] to him; Ramael, [sixth to him;] 8 Daniel, seventh [to him; Ziqiel, eighth] to him; Baraqel, ninth [to him;] 9 Asael, tenth [to him; Hermoni, eleventh] to him; Matarel, twelfth [to him;] 10 Ananel, thirteenth [to him;] Shatawel, fourteenth to him; Shamshiel, [fifteenth] 11 to him; Shahriel, sixteenth to him; Tummiel, seventeenth [to him;] 12 Turiel, eighteenth to him; Yomiel, nineteenth to him; [Yehaddiel, twentieth to him.] 13 These are the chiefs of the chiefs of tens. They [and their chiefs all took for themselves] 14 wives from all whom they chose, and [they began to go in to them and to defile themselves with them,] 15 and to teach them sorcery and [spells and the cutting of roots, and to show them plants.] 16 And they became pregnant by them and bore [giants, three thousand cubits tall, who] 17 were born on the earth [in keeping with their childhood, and grew at the rate of their growth, and who were devouring] 18 the labor of all the sons of men, and men were not [able to supply them. And the giants] 19 were conspiring to kill men and [to devour them. And they began to sin … against] 20 all birds and beasts of the earth, [and the creeping things that creep on the earth and in the water] 21 and in the heavens, and the fish of the sea, and to devour [their] flesh, [one another’s, and they were drinking blood. Then] 22 [the earth made accusation against the] wicked, [about all that was being done on it.] 23 [Asael taught men] to [make …]
Fragment 1 iv
1 Shemihazah taught spell-binding [and the cutting of roots. Hermoni taught the loosing of spells,] 2 magic and sorcery and skills. [Baraqel taught the signs of lightning. Kokabel taught] 3 the signs of the stars. Ziqiel [taught the signs of shooting stars. Arataqoph taught the signs of the earth.] 4 Shamshiel taught the signs of the sun. [Shahriel taught the signs of the] moon. [And they all began] 5 to reveal mysteries to their wives. And because [part of humankind] was perishing from the earth, the cry 6 went up before [heaven. Then] Michael [and Sariel and] Raphael and Gabriel looked down 7 from the holy [place of heaven upon the earth, and they saw] much blood poured [out upon the] earth, and all [the earth] 8 was filled with [wickedness and] violence, so that sin was committed on it. [And hearing this, the four went in] 9 and said before [them that] the voice and the cry, at the [destruction of the sons of the earth, were going up to] 10 the gates of heaven. [And they said to the holy] ones of heaven, [“Now to you, holy ones of heaven,] 11 the [souls of the sons of men] are making their plea and [saying …] 19 [… upon the] earth, and [all deceit upon] 20 [the dry land. And he made known the eternal mysteries that are in heaven, which] they practice, [the knowing ones among] 21 [the sons of men. And Shemihazah, to whom you gave authority to] rule over all his [companions.] 22 [And they went to the daughters of the men of the earth and lay with them, with the females,] to [defile themselves.]
