Daniel 2:21
19 Then in a night vision the mystery was revealed to Daniel. So Daniel praised the God of heaven, 20 saying: “Let the name of God be praised forever and ever, for wisdom and power belong to him. 21 He changes times and seasons, deposing some kings and establishing others. He gives wisdom to the wise; he imparts knowledge to those with understanding; 22 he reveals deep and hidden things. He knows what is in the darkness, and light resides with him. 23 O God of my fathers, I acknowledge and glorify you, for you have bestowed wisdom and power on me. Now you have enabled me to understand what we requested from you. For you have enabled us to understand the king’s dilemma.”
Matthew 11:25
23 And you, Capernaum, will you be exalted to heaven? No, you will be thrown down to Hades! For if the miracles done among you had been done in Sodom, it would have continued to this day. 24 But I tell you, it will be more bearable for the region of Sodom on the day of judgment than for you!” 25 At that time Jesus said, “I praise you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because you have hidden these things from the wise and intelligent, and have revealed them to little children. 26 Yes, Father, for this was your gracious will. 27 All things have been handed over to me by my Father. No one knows the Son except the Father, and no one knows the Father except the Son and anyone to whom the Son decides to reveal him.

"... The theme of apocalyptic (hidden, secret) wisdom emerges in this text where wisdom is hidden from the wise. Apocalyptic wisdom is often featured in Jewish wisdom literature where wisdom is portrayed as unattainable apart from divine revelation ... The type of special revelation that the Father is revealing to children, is apocalyptic wisdom given to the elect. Jewish eschatology expected an outpouring of “unprecedented knowledge and wisdom for the elect” (compare Jeremiah 31:34; Habakkuk 2:14; Psalm 78:2). In this way, Matthew presents Jesus as the fulfillment of Jewish eschatological hope ... An unexpected reversal has taken place in the revelation of divine wisdom. Spiritual truth has been hidden from the “wise and intelligent” and has been freely given to “children”. Jesus may be speaking in contrast to Daniel 2:21, “God gives wisdom to the wise and knowledge to those who have understanding” while affirming the words of Isaiah (compare Isaiah 29:14) ..."
