Storm God
A storm god is a divine figure linked to weather phenomena such as rain, thunder, lightning, and powerful winds. In many ancient societies, control over storms meant control over agriculture, survival, and political stability, which gave storm gods high status and authority. Early Israelite texts frequently describe God using the imagery and roles of a storm deity, including riding on clouds, speaking through thunder, and exercising power through wind and rain. This language closely parallels descriptions of storm gods in surrounding ancient Near Eastern cultures.
