Hagiographa

The Hagiographa, also known in Hebrew as Ketuvim (“Writings”), is the third major division of the Hebrew Bible, alongside the Torah and the Prophets. It includes a wide range of literary genres such as psalms, wisdom literature, festival scrolls, and later historical narratives. Unlike the Torah and Prophets, the Hagiographa does not follow a single narrative or thematic structure. Its contents reflect different periods, voices, and purposes, showing how Jewish tradition preserved prayer, reflection, instruction, and memory alongside law and prophecy. The grouping highlights the literary and functional diversity within the biblical canon.
