Date: 20-50 C.E.

Philo of Alexandria, also called Philo Judaeus, was a Hellenistic Jewish philosopher who lived in Alexandria, in the Roman province of Egypt. The treatise On Dreams deals with a kind of dream that appears to contain no direct divine message, but something is seen by the dreamer, obscure in itself but explained by the art of dream interpretation. This draws upon the example of Joseph under Pharaoh.
