Description: The Divine Institutes, known by its Latin name Institutiones Divinae, is the name of a theological work by the Christian Roman philosopher Lactantius, written early in the 4th century C.E. It is both a systematic as well as apologetic work that attempts to point out the futility of pagan beliefs and to establish the reasonableness and truth of Christianity. It is notable as the first full attempt to defend Christian theology in Latin.
