Hierocles' treatise on marriage, preserved as fragments in Stobaeus' Anthology (4.67.21-24 and 4.75.14). Hierocles argues that marriage is necessary, beneficial, and beautiful, foundational to community and the household. The English text is based on Thomas Taylor's 1822 translation (originally titled "On Wedlock"), with archaic language lightly modernized.
