Summary

Date: 1900 B.C.E.

"Enki and Ninhursag" tells how Dilmun begins as a clean and peaceful land but cannot support life because it has no water. Enki brings water and fertility to the land, which leads to the creation of new beings and plants. When Enki consumes what he has created, it causes harm and disorder. Ninhursag then restores balance by healing Enki and assigning roles to the new gods, establishing a stable order for the world.
