2 Enoch is an apocalyptic text, and although it is similar in many regards to 1 Enoch, it is not directly related nor is a sequel. It describes the ascent of the patriarch Enoch, ancestor of Noah, through ten heavens of an Earth-centered cosmos. The text is notable for shaping the cosmology of the early middle ages. It also shows signs of late editing by Christians.
