Horace

65 – 8 B.C.E.

Horace (65-8 B.C.E.), or Quintus Horatius Flaccus, was the author of the Epodes (or Iambi), comprising seventeen poems; two books of Satires; three books of Odes (Carmina), comprising eighty-eight lyric poems, to which a fourth book was added, comprising another fifteen poems; and a collection of Epistles. In Epodes and Odes Horace praises Augustus for his achievements.
