1 He called to Moses, and Shema spoke with him from the tent of meeting, saying, 2 "Speak with the children of Israel and tell them: If any one of you brings an offering near to Shema from the beasts, you shall bring your offerings from the oxen and from the flock. 3 If his offering is a burnt offering from the oxen, he shall bring a male that is whole; he shall bring it to the door of the tent of meeting, to win favor before Shema. 4 He shall lean his hand on the head of the burnt offering, and it will be accepted for him, to make atonement over him. 5 He shall slaughter the young bull before Shema, and Aaron's sons the priests shall bring the blood near and sprinkle the blood all around on the altar that stands at the door of the tent of meeting. 6 They shall skin the burnt offering and cut it up into its pieces. 7 Aaron's sons the priests shall put fire on the altar and arrange wood on the fire. 8 Aaron's sons the priests shall arrange the pieces, the head and the fat on the wood that is on the fire on the altar. 9 They shall wash its innards and its legs in the water, and the priest shall burn all of it on the altar; it is a burnt offering, an offering with a pleasing aroma to Shema. 10 If his burnt offering to Shema is from the flock, from the lambs or from the goats, he shall bring a male that is whole; he shall bring it to the door of the tent of meeting. 11 He shall slaughter it beside the altar on the north side before Shema, and Aaron's sons the priests shall sprinkle its blood all around on the altar. 12 They shall cut it up into its pieces, with its head and its fat, and the priest shall arrange them on the wood that is on the fire on the altar. 13 He shall wash the innards and the legs in the water, and the priest shall bring all of it near and burn [it] on the altar; it is a burnt offering, an offering with a pleasing aroma to Shema. 14 If his burnt offering to Shema is from the birds, he shall bring his offering from the turtledoves or from the young doves. 15 The priest shall bring it near to the altar, pinch off its head and burn [it] on the altar, and its blood shall be drained out against the wall of the altar. 16 He shall remove its crop with its filth and throw it beside the altar on the east side, at the place of the ashes. 17 He shall split it open by its wings without tearing it apart, and the priest shall burn it on the altar, on the wood that is on the fire; it is a burnt offering, an offering with a pleasing aroma to Shema.
1 If a person brings a grain offering as an offering to Shema, the offering shall be fine flour; he shall pour oil over it and put frankincense on it; it is a grain offering. 2 He shall bring it to Aaron's sons the priests, and [the priest] shall scoop from it a full fistful of its fine flour and its oil, together with all its frankincense, and the priest shall burn its memorial portion on the altar, an offering with a pleasing aroma to Shema. 3 What is left of the grain offering [belongs] to Aaron and his sons, most holy among the offerings of Shema. 4 If you bring a grain offering baked in an oven, [it shall be] fine flour: unleavened loaves mixed with oil and unleavened wafers smeared with oil. 5 If your offering is a grain offering on a griddle, it shall be fine flour mixed with oil, unleavened. 6 Break it into pieces and pour oil over it; it is a grain offering. 7 If your offering is a grain offering from the pan, it shall be made of fine flour in oil. 8 You shall bring the grain offering made from these things to Shema; he shall present it into the hand of the priest, and [the priest] shall bring it forward to the altar. 9 The priest shall lift its memorial portion from the grain offering and burn [it] on the altar, an offering with a pleasing aroma to Shema. 10 What is left of the grain offering [belongs] to Aaron and his sons, most holy among the offerings of Shema. 11 No grain offering that you bring to Shema shall be made leavened, for you shall bring no leaven and no honey from it as an offering to Shema. 12 You may bring them to Shema as an offering of first produce, but they shall not go up on the altar for a pleasing aroma. 13 Every offering of your grain offering you shall salt with salt; do not let the salt of your God's covenant be missing from your grain offering. With all your offerings you shall bring salt. 14 If you bring a grain offering of first-ripe produce to Shema, you shall bring fresh ears roasted in fire, crushed husked grain, as the grain offering of first-ripe produce. 15 You shall put oil on it and lay frankincense on it; it is a grain offering. 16 The priest shall burn its memorial portion, from its crushed grain and from its oil, together with all its frankincense, as an offering to Shema.
1 If his offering is a sacrifice of peace offerings, and he brings it from the oxen, whether male or female, he shall bring it whole before Shema. 2 He shall lean his hand on the head of his offering and slaughter it at the door of the tent of meeting, and Aaron's sons the priests shall sprinkle the blood all around on the altar. 3 From the sacrifice of peace offerings he shall bring an offering to Shema: the fat that covers the innards and all the fat on the innards, 4 the two kidneys with the fat on them, which is on the loins, and the lobe on the liver; he shall remove it along with the kidneys. 5 Aaron's sons shall burn it on the altar on top of the burnt offering, which is on the wood on the fire on the altar, an offering with a pleasing aroma to Shema. 6 If his offering for a sacrifice of peace offerings to Shema is from the flock, male or female, he shall bring it whole. 7 If he brings a lamb as his offering, he shall bring it near before Shema. 8 He shall lean his hand on the head of his offering and slaughter it before the tent of meeting, and Aaron's sons shall sprinkle its blood all around on the altar. 9 From the sacrifice of peace offerings he shall bring an offering to Shema: its fat, the whole fat tail, which he shall remove close to the backbone, the fat that covers the innards and all the fat on the innards, 10 the two kidneys with the fat on them, which is on the loins, and the lobe on the liver; he shall remove it along with the kidneys. 11 The priest shall burn [it] on the altar as food, an offering to Shema. 12 If his offering is a goat, he shall bring it near before Shema. 13 He shall lean his hand on its head and slaughter it before the tent of meeting, and Aaron's sons the priests shall sprinkle its blood all around on the altar. 14 From it he shall bring his offering, an offering to Shema: the fat that covers the innards and all the fat on the innards, 15 the two kidneys with the fat on them, which is on the loins, and the lobe on the liver; he shall remove it along with the kidneys. 16 The priest shall burn them on the altar as food, an offering for a pleasing aroma to Shema. All fat belongs to Shema. 17 [It is] a lasting decree for your generations in all your dwellings: you shall eat no fat and no blood."
1 And Shema spoke with Moses, saying: 2 "Speak with the children of Israel, saying: If a person sins in error against any of the commandments of Shema that are not to be done, and does one of them, 3 if the priest who is anointed sins, bringing guilt on the people, he shall offer for his sin that he has sinned a bull, a young one of the herd, unblemished, to Shema for a sin offering. 4 He shall bring the bull to the entrance of the tent of meeting before Shema, and lay his hand on the bull's head, and slaughter the bull before Shema. 5 And the anointed priest, whose hand was installed [in office], shall take some of the bull's blood and bring it into the tent of meeting. 6 The priest shall dip his finger in the blood and sprinkle some of the blood seven times with his finger before Shema, toward the face of the curtain of the sanctuary. 7 And the priest shall put some of the blood on the horns of the altar for burning spices before Shema, which is in the tent of meeting; all the blood he shall pour out at the base of the altar of the burnt offering, which is at the entrance of the tent of meeting. 8 And all the fat of the sin-offering bull he shall lift away from it: the fat that covers the inner parts and all the fat that lies on the inner parts, 9 and the two kidneys with the fat on them, which is by the loins, and the lobe over the liver, which he shall remove along with the kidneys, 10 just as it is lifted from the ox of the peace sacrifice; and the priest shall burn them on the altar of the burnt offering. 11 But the bull's hide and all its flesh, with its head and its legs, its inner parts and its dung, 12 the whole bull, they shall carry out outside the camp to a clean place, where the ashes are poured out, and burn it on wood with fire; it shall be burned where the ashes are poured out. 13 And if the whole assembly of Israel goes astray, and a matter is hidden from the eyes of the congregation, and they do one of all the commandments of Shema that are not to be done, and become guilty, 14 and the sin they committed in it becomes known, the congregation shall offer a bull, a young one of the herd, unblemished, for a sin offering, and bring it before the tent of meeting. 15 The wise men of the assembly shall lay their hands on the bull's head before Shema, and the bull shall be slaughtered before Shema. 16 And the priest who is anointed shall bring some of the bull's blood into the tent of meeting. 17 The priest shall dip his finger in the blood and sprinkle some of the blood seven times before Shema, toward the face of the curtain of the sanctuary. 18 Some of the blood the priest shall put on the horns of the altar for burning spices that stands before Shema in the tent of meeting, and at the base of the burnt-offering altar, at the entrance of the tent of meeting, he shall pour out all the blood. 19 All its fat he shall lift away from it and burn on the altar. 20 He shall do to the bull as he did to the sin-offering bull; so it shall be done to it. And the priest shall make atonement for them, and they shall be forgiven. 21 He shall take the bull outside the camp and burn it just as he burned the first bull; it is the congregation’s sin offering. 22 If a ruler sins and does in error one of all the commandments of Shema his God that are not to be done, and becomes guilty, 23 or the sin he committed is made known to him, he shall bring as his offering a he-goat, a male, unblemished. 24 He shall lay his hand on the goat's head and slaughter it in the place where they slaughter the burnt offering before Shema; it is a sin offering. 25 With his finger the priest shall take some of the sin offering’s blood and put [it] on the horns of the burnt-offering altar, and he shall pour out its blood at the base of that altar. 26 All its fat he shall burn on the altar, like the fat of the peace sacrifice, and the priest shall make atonement for him for his sin. 27 And if a single person from the people of the land sins in error by doing one of all the commandments of Shema that are not to be done, and becomes guilty, 28 or the sin he committed is made known to him, he shall bring as his offering a she-goat, a female, unblemished, for the sin he committed. 29 He shall lay his hand on the head of the sin offering [and slaughter it] in the place where they slaughter the burnt offering. 30 The priest shall take some of its blood with his finger and put [it] on the horns of the altar of the burnt offering, and all the blood he shall pour out at the base of the altar of the burnt offering. 31 All its fat he shall remove, as the fat is removed from the peace sacrifice, and the priest shall burn [it] on the altar as a pleasing scent to Shema; the priest shall make atonement for him, and he shall be forgiven. 32 And if he brings a lamb as his offering for a sin offering, he shall bring a female, unblemished. 33 He shall lay his hand on the head of the sin offering and slaughter it for a sin offering in the place where they slaughter the burnt offering. 34 With his finger the priest shall take some of the sin offering’s blood and put [it] on the horns of the burnt-offering altar, and he shall pour out all the blood at the base of that altar. 35 All its fat he shall remove, as the fat of the lamb of the peace sacrifice is removed, and the priest shall burn [it] on the altar along with the offerings of Shema; the priest shall make atonement for him for the sins he committed, and he shall be forgiven.
1 And if a person sins in that he hears the sound of a solemn charge, and he is a witness, whether he saw or knew, if he does not tell, he shall bear his guilt. 2 Or if a person touches any unclean thing, whether the carcass of an unclean wild animal, or the carcass of unclean livestock, or the carcass of an unclean creeping thing, and it is hidden from him while he is unclean, he is guilty. 3 Or if he touches human uncleanness, any uncleanness by which one becomes unclean, and it is hidden from him, and [then] he knows, he is guilty. 4 Or if a person swears, speaking rashly with the lips, to do harm or to do good, in anything a person may speak rashly with an oath, and it is hidden from him, and [then] he knows, he is guilty in one of these. 5 When he sins in one of these, he shall confess what he sinned in it, 6 and bring his guilt offering to Shema for the sin he committed: a female from the flock, a lamb or a she-goat, for a sin offering. And the priest shall make atonement for him for the sins he committed, and he shall be forgiven. 7 And if his hand cannot reach [the cost of] a lamb, he shall bring for the guilt of what he sinned two turtledoves or two young pigeons to Shema, one for a sin offering and one for a burnt offering. 8 He shall bring them to the hand of the priest, who shall offer the one for the sin offering first; the priest shall pinch off its head at the neck, but not separate [it]. 9 He shall sprinkle some of the blood of the sin offering onto the altar, and at the base of the altar what is left of the blood shall be drained out; it is a sin offering. 10 The second he shall make a burnt offering according to its rule, and the priest shall make atonement for him for the sin he committed, and he shall be forgiven. 11 And if his hand cannot reach two turtledoves or two young pigeons, he shall bring as his offering for what he sinned a tenth of a measure of fine flour for a sin offering; he shall not pour oil on it or put frankincense on it, for it is a sin offering. 12 He shall bring it to the hand of the priest, and [the priest] shall take a full handful from it as its memorial portion and burn [it] on the altar along with the offerings of Shema; it is a sin offering. 13 The priest shall make atonement for him for the sins he committed in one of these, and he shall be forgiven; and [the rest] shall belong to the priest, like the grain offering." 14 And Shema spoke with Moses, saying: 15 "If a person acts falsely and sins in error against the holy things of Shema, he shall bring his guilt offering to Shema, an unblemished ram from the flock, at your valuation in silver by weight, by the sanctuary weight, for a guilt offering. 16 What he sinned against the holy thing he shall repay, adding a fifth to it, and he shall hand it to the priest; the priest shall then make atonement for him with the ram of the guilt offering, and he shall be forgiven. 17 And if a person sins and does one of all the commandments of Shema that are not to be done, and did not know, he is guilty and shall bear his sin. 18 He shall bring an unblemished ram from the flock, at your valuation, for a guilt offering to the priest, and the priest shall make atonement for him for the error he committed while he did not know, and he shall be forgiven. 19 It is a guilt offering; he is guilty, a guilt offering to Shema." 20 And Shema spoke with Moses, saying: 21 "If a person sins and acts falsely against Shema, and lies to his fellow about something entrusted, or a pledge of the hand, or something robbed, or has extorted from his fellow, 22 or has found a lost thing and lied about it, and sworn falsely about one of all the things a person does to sin by them, 23 then when he sins and becomes guilty, he shall give back the robbery he committed, or the extortion he extorted, or the thing entrusted to him, or the lost thing he found, 24 or anything about which he swore falsely; he shall repay it in full and add a fifth to it; he shall give it to the one it belongs to on the day of his guilt. 25 And his guilt offering he shall bring to Shema, an unblemished ram from the flock, at your valuation, for a guilt offering. 26 And the priest shall make atonement for him before Shema, and he shall be forgiven for any one of all the things he does to become guilty by it."
1 And Shema spoke with Moses, saying: 2 "Command Aaron and his sons and say: This is the law of the burned offering. It is the burned offering [that stays] on its burning place on the altar all night until morning, and the altar’s fire shall be kept burning on it. 3 And the priest shall put on his linen garment, and he shall put linen breeches on his body, and he shall lift up the ashes of what the fire consumed of the burned offering on the altar, and he shall set them down beside the altar. 4 Then he shall take off his clothes and put on other clothes, and he shall bring the ashes out, outside the camp, to a clean place. 5 And the fire on the altar shall be kept burning on it; it shall not go out. The priest shall kindle wood on it morning by morning, and he shall arrange the burned offering on it, and he shall burn the fat of the peace offerings on it. 6 A continual fire shall be kept burning on the altar; it shall not go out. 7 And this is the law of the meal offering: before Shema, toward the front of the altar, the sons of Aaron shall offer it. 8 And he shall lift from it a handful of the fine flour of the meal offering and of its oil, and all the frankincense that is on the meal offering, and he shall burn [it] on the altar, an offering of pleasing aroma, its memorial to Shema. 9 And what is left of it Aaron and his sons shall eat. It shall be eaten unleavened in a holy place; they shall eat it in the court of the tent of meeting. 10 It shall not be baked leavened. I have given it as their portion from the offerings of Shema. It is most holy, like the sin offering and like the trespass offering. 11 Every male among the sons of Aaron shall eat it, an everlasting portion throughout your generations from the offerings of Shema. Whoever touches them shall become holy." 12 And Shema spoke with Moses, saying: 13 "This is the offering of Aaron and his sons that they shall offer to Shema on the day of his anointing: a tenth of the measure of fine flour as a continual meal offering, half of it in the morning and half of it between the evenings. 14 It shall be made with oil on a griddle. You shall bring it well soaked; in cut pieces you shall offer the meal offering of pieces, a pleasing aroma to Shema. 15 The priest from among his sons who is anointed in his place shall make it, an everlasting portion to Shema; it shall be burned whole. 16 And every meal offering of a priest shall be whole; it shall not be eaten." 17 And Shema spoke with Moses, saying: 18 "Speak with Aaron and with his sons, saying: This is the law of the sin offering. In the place where you slaughter the burned offering, you shall slaughter the sin offering before Shema. It is most holy. 19 The priest who makes atonement with it shall eat it. It shall be eaten in a holy place, in the court of the tent of meeting. 20 Whatever touches its flesh shall become holy. And whatever of its blood spatters on a garment, what spatters on it shall be washed in a holy place. 21 And a clay vessel in which it is cooked shall be broken; and if it is cooked in a bronze vessel, it shall be scoured and rinsed in water. 22 Every male among the priests shall eat it. It is most holy. 23 And no sin [offering] whose blood is carried into the tent of meeting for atonement in the holy place shall be eaten; in fire it shall be burned.
1 And this is the law of the trespass offering. It is most holy. 2 In the place where they slaughter the burned offering they shall slaughter the trespass offering, and they shall dash its blood on the altar all around. 3 And he shall offer all its fat from it: the fat tail, and the fat that covers the inner parts, and all the fat that is on the inner parts, 4 and the two kidneys, and the fat that is on them, which is on the loins, and the lobe on the liver; he shall remove it along with the kidneys. 5 And the priest shall burn them on the altar, an offering to Shema. It is a trespass offering. 6 Every male among the priests shall eat it. It shall be eaten in a holy place. It is most holy. 7 Like the sin offering, so is the trespass offering; there is one law for them. The priest who makes atonement with it shall have it. 8 And the priest who offers anyone's burned offering shall have for himself the skin of the burned offering that they offer to the priest. 9 And every meal offering that is baked in the oven, and all that is made in the pot and on the griddle, shall belong to the priest who offers it. 10 And every meal offering mixed with oil or dry shall belong to all the sons of Aaron, each one like his brother. 11 And this is the law of the sacrifice of peace offerings that they shall offer to Shema. 12 If he offers it for thanksgiving, then he shall offer with the sacrifice of thanksgiving unleavened cakes mixed with oil. 13 With cakes of leavened bread he shall offer his offering, along with the sacrifice of thanksgiving of his peace offerings. 14 And he shall offer from it one out of every offering as a contribution to Shema; it shall belong to the priest who dashes the blood of the peace offerings. 15 And the flesh of the sacrifice of thanksgiving of his peace offerings shall be eaten on the day of his offering; he shall not leave any of it until morning, half [and] half, its share. 16 But if the sacrifice of his offering is a vow or a freewill offering, it shall be eaten on the day he offers his sacrifice, and afterward, what is left of it shall be eaten. 17 And what is left of the flesh of the sacrifice on the third day shall be burned in fire. 18 And if any of the flesh of the sacrifice of his peace offerings is in fact eaten on the third day, it shall not be accepted; it shall not be credited to the one who offers it. It is void, and the person who eats of it shall bear his guilt. 19 And flesh that touches anything unclean shall not be eaten; it shall be burned in fire. As for the flesh, everyone who is clean may eat flesh. 20 But the person who eats flesh from the sacrifice of peace offerings that belongs to Shema while his uncleanness is on him, that person shall be uprooted from his people. 21 And if a person touches anything unclean, human uncleanness, or an unclean animal, or any unclean creeping thing, and eats of the flesh of the sacrifice of peace offerings that belongs to Shema, that person shall be uprooted from his people." 22 And Shema spoke with Moses, saying: 23 "Speak with the children of Israel, saying: You shall not eat any fat of ox or sheep or goat. 24 And the fat of an animal that dies by itself and the fat of a torn animal may be used for any work, but you shall not eat it at all. 25 For anyone who eats fat from an animal from which an offering is offered to Shema, the person who eats it shall be uprooted from his people. 26 And you shall not eat any blood, of bird or of animal, in any of your dwellings. 27 Any person who eats any blood, that person shall be uprooted from his people." 28 And Shema spoke with Moses, saying: 29 "And you shall speak with the children of Israel, saying: The one who offers the sacrifice of his peace offerings to Shema shall bring his offering to Shema from the sacrifice of his peace offerings. 30 His own hands shall bring the offerings of Shema. He shall bring the fat with the breast, the breast to wave it as a wave offering before Shema. 31 And the priest shall burn the fat on the altar, and the breast shall belong to Aaron and to his sons. 32 And you shall give the right thigh as a contribution to the priest from the sacrifices of your peace offerings. 33 The one among the sons of Aaron who offers the blood of the peace offerings and the fat shall have the right thigh as a portion. 34 For I have taken the breast of waving and the thigh of contribution from the children of Israel, from the sacrifices of their peace offerings, and I have given them to Aaron the priest and to his sons as an everlasting portion from the children of Israel. 35 This is the anointing [portion] of Aaron and the anointing [portion] of his sons from the offerings of Shema, on the day he brought them near to serve as priests to Shema, 36 which Shema commanded to be given to them from the children of Israel on the day of their anointing, an everlasting portion throughout your generations." 37 This is the law for the burned offering, for the meal offering, for the sin offering, for the trespass offering, for the consecrations, and for the sacrifice of peace offerings, 38 which Shema commanded Moses on Mount Sinai on the day he commanded the children of Israel to offer their offerings to Shema in the wilderness of Sinai.
1 And Shema spoke with Moses, saying, 2 "Take Aaron, and with him his sons, along with the garments, the anointing oil, the sin-offering bull, the two rams and the basket of unleavened bread, 3 and gather the whole congregation at the entrance of the tent of meeting." 4 And Moses did as Shema had commanded him, and the congregation gathered at the entrance of the tent of meeting. 5 And Moses said to the congregation, "This is the word that Shema has commanded to be done." 6 And Moses brought Aaron and his sons near and washed them with water. 7 And he put the tunic on him, and girded him with the sash, and dressed him in the robe, and put the ephod on him, and girded him with the woven band of the ephod, and fastened it to him with it. 8 And he set the breastpiece on him, and on the breastpiece he put the Lights and the Perfections. 9 And he set the turban on his head, and on the turban, facing his face, he put the gold plate, the holy crown, as Shema commanded Moses. 10 And Moses took some of the anointing oil and anointed the tabernacle and everything in it, and sanctified them. 11 Some of it he sprinkled on the altar seven times, and he anointed the altar with all its vessels, and the basin with its stand, to sanctify them. 12 And he poured some of the anointing oil on Aaron's head and anointed him to sanctify him. 13 And Moses brought Aaron's sons near and dressed them in tunics, and girded them with sashes, and fastened caps on them, as Shema commanded Moses. 14 Then he brought forward the sin-offering bull, and Aaron and his sons laid their hands on that bull’s head. 15 And he slaughtered [it], and Moses took the blood and put [it] on the horns of the altar all around with his finger, and purified the altar; and the blood he poured out at the base of the altar, and he sanctified it, to make atonement on it. 16 And he took all the fat that is on the entrails, and the lobe of the liver, and the two kidneys, and their fat, and Moses burned [them] on the altar. 17 And the bull he burned with fire outside the camp, as Shema commanded Moses. 18 And he brought forward the ram of the burnt offering, and Aaron and his sons laid their hands on the head of the ram. 19 And he slaughtered [it], and Moses sprinkled the blood on the altar all around. 20 And the ram he cut into its pieces, and Moses burned the head and the pieces and the suet. 21 And the entrails and its legs he washed in water, and Moses burned the whole ram on the altar; it is a burnt offering for a pleasing aroma, it is an offering to Shema, as Shema commanded Moses. 22 And he brought near the second ram, the ram of consecration, and Aaron and his sons laid their hands on the head of the ram. 23 And he slaughtered [it], and Moses took some of the blood and put [it] on the tip of Aaron's right ear, and on the thumb of his right hand, and on the big toe of his right foot. 24 And he brought Aaron's sons near, and Moses put some of the blood on the tip of their right ears, and on the thumbs of their right hands, and on the big toes of their right feet; and Moses sprinkled the blood on the altar all around. 25 And he took the fat with the fat tail, and all the fat that is on the entrails, and the lobe of the liver, and the two kidneys, and their fat, and the right thigh. 26 And from the basket of unleavened bread that is before Shema he took one unleavened cake, and one cake of bread with oil, and one wafer, and placed [them] on the fat and with the right thigh. 27 And he put all of it on Aaron's palms and on his sons' palms, and waved them as a wave offering before Shema. 28 And Moses took them from their palms and burned [them] on the altar with the burnt offering; they are consecration [offerings] for a pleasing aroma, an offering to Shema. 29 And Moses took the breast and waved it as a wave offering before Shema; from the ram of consecration it became Moses' portion, as Shema commanded Moses. 30 Moses took some of the anointing oil and some of the blood on the altar and sprinkled [it] on Aaron and his garments, and on his sons and his sons’ garments with him; thus he sanctified Aaron and his garments, and with him his sons and his sons’ garments. 31 And Moses said to Aaron and to his sons, "Cook the meat at the entrance of the tent of meeting, in the holy place, and there you shall eat it, along with the bread that is in the basket of consecration, as I was commanded, saying, 'Aaron and his sons shall eat it.' 32 And what is left over of the meat and of the bread you shall burn with fire. 33 You shall not go out from the entrance of the tent of meeting for seven days, until the day the days of your consecration are complete, for he will fill your hands for seven days. 34 As was done on this day, Shema has commanded to do, to make atonement for you. 35 And at the entrance of the tent of meeting you shall stay day and night seven days, and you shall keep the charge of Shema, and you will not die, for so I was commanded." 36 And Aaron and his sons did all the things that Shema commanded through Moses.
1 And on the eighth day Moses called Aaron and his sons and the elders of Israel. 2 And he said to Aaron, "Take for yourself a calf, a young bull, for atonement, and a ram for a burnt offering, unblemished, and offer [them] before Shema. 3 And to the elders of Israel you shall speak, saying, 'Take a male goat for a sin offering, and a calf and a lamb, a year old, unblemished, for a burnt offering, 4 and a bull and a ram for peace offerings, to sacrifice before Shema, and a grain offering mixed with oil, for today Shema appears to you.'" 5 And they took what Moses had commanded to the front of the tent of meeting, and the whole congregation drew near and stood before Shema. 6 And Moses said, "This is the word that Shema commanded you to do, and the glory of Shema will appear to you." 7 Moses said to Aaron, "Draw near to the altar and make your sin offering and your burnt offering, and make atonement for yourself and for the people; and make the people's offering and make atonement for them, as Shema commanded." 8 And Aaron drew near to the altar and slaughtered the calf of the sin offering that was his own. 9 Aaron’s sons brought the blood to him; he dipped his finger in it and put [it] on the altar’s horns, and the blood he poured out at the altar’s base. 10 And the fat, and the kidneys, and the lobe from the liver of the sin offering, he burned on the altar, as Shema commanded Moses. 11 And the meat and the skin he burned with fire outside the camp. 12 And he slaughtered the burnt offering, and Aaron's sons handed him the blood, and he sprinkled it on the altar all around. 13 And the burnt offering they handed to him in its pieces, and the head, and he burned [them] on the altar. 14 And he washed the entrails and the legs and burned [them] with the burnt offering on the altar. 15 And he brought the people's offering near, and took the goat of the sin offering that was the people's, and slaughtered it and made atonement with it like the first. 16 And he brought the burnt offering near and made it according to the rule. 17 And he brought the grain offering near, and filled his palms from it, and burned [it] on the altar, besides the morning burnt offering. 18 And he slaughtered the bull and the ram, the sacrifice of peace offerings that was the people's; and Aaron's sons handed the blood to him, and he sprinkled it on the altar all around, 19 and the fats from the bull and from the ram, the fat tail and the covering, and the kidneys, and the lobe of the liver; 20 and he placed the fats with the breasts and burned the fats on the altar, 21 the breasts and the right thigh Aaron waved as a wave offering before Shema, as Shema commanded Moses. 22 And Aaron raised his hand over the people and blessed them, and he came down from making the sin offering, the burnt offering and the peace offerings. 23 Moses and Aaron entered the tent of meeting, came out again, blessed the people, and to all the people the glory of Shema appeared. 24 And fire came out from before Shema and consumed on the altar the burnt offering and the fats; and all the people saw, and they gave praise and fell on their faces.
1 And Aaron's sons Nadab and Abihu each took his fire pan and put fire in them, and placed incense on them, and offered before Shema a strange fire that he had not commanded them. 2 And fire came out from before Shema and consumed them, and they died before Shema. 3 And Moses said to Aaron, "This is what Shema spoke, saying, 'Through those near me I will be sanctified, and before all the people I will be honored.'" And Aaron was silent. 4 And Moses called Mishael and Elzaphan, the sons of Uzziel, Aaron's uncle, and said to them, "Come near, carry your brothers from before the sanctuary to outside the camp." 5 And they came near and carried them in their tunics outside the camp, as Moses had said. 6 And Moses said to Aaron and to Eleazar and to Ithamar his sons, "Do not let your hair hang loose, and do not tear your garments, so that you do not die and he is not angry with the whole congregation; and your brothers, the whole house of Israel, shall weep over the burning that Shema has kindled. 7 And do not go out from the entrance of the tent of meeting, or you will die, for Shema's anointing oil is on you." And they did according to Moses' word. 8 And Shema spoke with Aaron, saying, 9 "Do not drink wine or strong drink, you and your sons with you, when you enter the tent of meeting, so that you do not die. [It is] a lasting statute for your generations, 10 to distinguish between the holy and the profane, and between the unclean and the clean, 11 and to teach the children of Israel all the statutes that Shema spoke to them through Moses." 12 And Moses spoke with Aaron and with Eleazar and with Ithamar, his sons who were left, "Take the grain offering that is left from Shema's offerings and eat it unleavened beside the altar, for it is most holy. 13 And you shall eat it in a holy place, for it is your portion and your sons' portion from Shema's offerings, for so I was commanded. 14 The breast of waving and the thigh of lifting you shall eat in a clean place, you and your sons and your daughters with you, for your portion and your sons' portion have been given from the peace-offering sacrifices of the children of Israel. 15 The thigh of lifting and the breast of waving, with the offerings of the fats, they shall bring to wave as a wave offering before Shema, and it shall be yours and your sons' and your daughters' with you, as a lasting portion, as Shema commanded." 16 And Moses searched hard for the goat of the sin offering, and look, it was burned; and he was angry with Eleazar and with Ithamar, Aaron's sons who were left, saying, 17 "Why did you not eat the sin offering in the holy place? For it is most holy, and it was given to you to bear the guilt of the congregation, to make atonement for them before Shema. 18 Look, its blood was not brought into the inner sanctuary; you should certainly have eaten it in the sanctuary, as I commanded." 19 And Aaron spoke with Moses, "Look, today they offered their sin offering and their burnt offering before Shema, and things like these have happened to me. If I had eaten the atonement offering today, would it have been good in Shema's sight?" 20 And Moses heard, and it was good in his eyes.
1 And Shema spoke with Moses and with Aaron, telling them, 2 "Speak with the children of Israel and tell them: These are the animals you may eat out of all the beasts on the land. 3 Any beast whose hoof is split and divided into two parts, and which brings up the cud, you may eat. 4 But of those that bring up the cud and of those with split hoofs, you shall not eat these: the camel, for it brings up the cud but its hoof is not split; it is unclean for you. 5 And the coney, for it brings up the cud but its hoof is not split; it is unclean for you. 6 And the hare, for it brings up the cud but its hoof is not split; it is unclean for you. 7 And the pig, for its hoof is split and fully divided, but it does not bring up the cud; it is unclean for you. 8 You shall not eat their meat, and you shall not come near their carcasses; they are unclean for you. 9 And of all that lives in the water you may eat this: whatever has fins and scales in the water, in the seas and in the streams, that you may eat. 10 And whatever lacks fins and scales in the water, in the seas and in the streams, among all the swarming things of the water and every living creature in the water, they are loathsome to you. 11 They shall be loathsome to you: you shall not eat their meat, and you shall treat their carcasses as loathsome. 12 Whatever in the water lacks fins and scales is loathsome to you. 13 And among the birds you shall treat these as loathsome; you shall not eat them, for they are loathsome: the eagle, the hawk and the awah, 14 and the kite, and the ahya after its kind, 15 and every raven after its kind, 16 and the ostrich, and the taisa, and the shupha after its kind, and the falcon, 17 and the tsadya, and the iba, and the barbari, 18 and the qaphapha, and the pelican, and the naamita, 19 and the swallow, and the atpita after its kind, and the woodpecker, and the bat. 20 Every swarming bird that walks on four [legs] is loathsome to you. 21 But of all the swarming locusts that walk on four [legs], you may eat those that have legs above their feet for leaping on the ground. 22 Of these you may eat: the locust after its kind, the rashona after its kind, the ragola after its kind and the grasshopper after its kind. 23 But every swarming bird that has four legs is loathsome to you. 24 And through these you shall become unclean: whoever touches their carcass shall be unclean until evening. 25 And whoever carries [any] of their carcass shall wash his clothes and bathe in water, and be unclean until evening. 26 Any beast whose hoof is split but not divided into parts, and which does not bring up the cud, is unclean for you; whoever touches them shall be unclean. 27 And whatever walks on its paws, among all the animals that go on four [legs], they are unclean for you; whoever touches their carcass shall be unclean until evening. 28 And whoever carries [any] of their carcass shall wash his clothes and be unclean until evening; they are unclean for you. 29 And among the swarming things that swarm on the ground, these are unclean for you: the weasel, the mouse, and the ardona after its kind, 30 and the semamit, the koah, the letaita, the qakda and the kashshata. 31 These are the ones that are unclean for you among all the swarming things; whoever touches them when they are dead shall be unclean until evening. 32 And anything that one of them falls on when they are dead shall be unclean, any vessel of wood, or clothing, or skin, or sackcloth; any vessel used for work shall be put into water, and it shall be unclean until evening, and then be clean. 33 And if one of them falls inside any clay vessel, everything inside it shall be unclean, and you shall break it. 34 Any food that is eaten, if water comes onto it, shall be unclean, and any drink that is drunk from any [such] vessel shall be unclean. 35 And anything that [part] of their carcass falls on shall be unclean; an oven or a cooking stove shall be broken down; they are unclean, and they shall be unclean for you. 36 But a spring of water or a pit that collects water stays clean, while whoever touches their carcass shall be unclean. 37 And if [part] of their carcass falls on any seed for sowing that is to be sown, it is clean. 38 But if water is put on the seed and [part] of their carcass falls on it, it is unclean for you. 39 And if one of the beasts that are yours to eat dies, whoever touches its carcass shall be unclean until evening. 40 And whoever strips its carcass shall wash his clothes and be unclean until evening, and whoever carries [any] of its carcass shall wash his clothes and be unclean until evening. 41 Every swarming thing that swarms on the ground is loathsome; it shall not be eaten. 42 Whatever goes on its belly, and whatever goes on four [legs], up to anything with many legs, of all the swarming things that swarm on the ground, you shall not eat them, for they are loathsome. 43 Do not make yourselves loathsome with any swarming thing that swarms, and do not make yourselves unclean with them so that you become unclean through them. 44 For I am Shema your God; make yourselves holy and be holy, for I am holy. Do not make yourselves unclean with any swarming thing that creeps on the ground. 45 For I am Shema your God, who brought you up out of the land of Egypt to be God to you; so be holy, for I am holy." 46 This is the law of the beast and the bird, of every living creature that creeps in the water, and of every creature that swarms on the ground, 47 to distinguish between the unclean and the clean, and between the animal that is eaten and the animal that is not eaten.
1 And Shema spoke with Moses, saying, 2 "Speak with the children of Israel and tell them: When a woman conceives and gives birth to a boy, she shall be unclean seven days; as in the days of her monthly impurity she shall be unclean. 3 On the eighth day the flesh of his foreskin shall be circumcised. 4 For thirty-three days she shall remain in the blood of her purity; she shall not come near any holy thing, and she shall not enter the sanctuary, until the days of her purity are complete. 5 And if she gives birth to a girl, she shall be unclean two weeks, as in her impurity, and for sixty-six days she shall remain in the blood of her purity. 6 When the days of her purity are complete, for a son or for a daughter, she shall bring a year-old lamb for a burnt offering and a young pigeon or a turtledove for atonement to the door of the tent of meeting, into the hand of the priest. 7 He shall present it before Shema; the priest shall make atonement for her, and she will be clean from the flow of her blood. This is the law for the woman who gives birth, to a boy or to a girl. 8 And if she cannot afford the value of a lamb, she shall take two turtledoves or two young pigeons, one for atonement and the other for a burnt offering; the priest shall make atonement for her, and she will be clean."
1 Shema spoke with Moses and with Aaron, saying, 2 "When a person has on the skin of his body a swelling or a scab or a bright spot, and it becomes on the skin of his body an affliction of leprosy, he is to be brought to Aaron the priest or to one of his sons the priests. 3 The priest is to examine the affliction on the skin of the body. If the hair in the affliction has turned white and the look of the affliction is deeper than the skin of his body, it is an affliction of leprosy; the priest is to examine [it] and declare him unclean. 4 But if the bright spot on the skin of his body is white and its look is not deeper than the skin, and its hair has not turned white, the priest is to shut away the afflicted one for seven days. 5 The priest is to examine [him] on the seventh day. If the affliction has stood still in its appearance and has not spread in the skin, the priest is to shut him away for seven days a second time. 6 The priest is to examine [him] on the seventh day a second time. If the affliction has faded and has not spread in the skin, the priest is to declare him clean; it is a scab. He is to wash his garments and be clean. 7 But if the scab does spread in the skin after it has been shown to the priest for its cleansing, it is to be shown to the priest a second time. 8 The priest is to examine [it], and if the scab has spread in the skin, the priest is to declare him unclean; it is leprosy. 9 When an affliction of leprosy is on a person, he is to be brought to the priest. 10 The priest is to examine [him], and if there is a white swelling in the skin that has turned the hair white, and a patch of living flesh in the swelling, 11 it is an old leprosy in the skin of his body. The priest is to declare him unclean; he is not to shut him away, for he is unclean. 12 But if the leprosy breaks out widely in the skin, and the leprosy covers all the skin of the afflicted one from his head to his feet, as far as the priest's eyes can see, 13 the priest is to examine [him], and if the leprosy has covered all his body, he is to declare the afflicted one clean. It has all turned white; he is clean. 14 But on the day that living flesh shows on him, he becomes unclean. 15 The priest is to examine the living flesh and declare him unclean. The living flesh is unclean; it is leprosy. 16 Or if the living flesh turns back and changes to white, he is to come to the priest. 17 The priest is to examine [him], and if the affliction has turned white, the priest is to declare the afflicted one clean; he is clean. 18 When there is a boil on someone's body, and it heals, 19 and in the place of the boil there comes a white swelling or a white-reddish spot, it is to be shown to the priest. 20 The priest is to examine [it], and if its look is lower than the skin and its hair has turned white, the priest is to declare him unclean. It is an affliction of leprosy; it has broken out in the boil. 21 But if the priest examines it and there is no white hair in it, and it is no different from the skin and has faded, the priest is to shut him away for seven days. 22 If it does spread in the skin, the priest is to declare him unclean; it is an affliction. 23 But if the bright spot stays in its place and has not spread, it is the scar of the boil, and the priest is to declare him clean. 24 Or when someone's body has a burn from fire on its skin, and the living [flesh] of the burn becomes a white-reddish or white bright spot, 25 the priest is to examine it. If the hair in the bright spot has turned white and its look is deeper than the skin, it is leprosy; it has broken out in the burn. The priest is to declare him unclean; it is an affliction of leprosy. 26 But if the priest examines it and there is no white hair in the bright spot, and it is no different from the skin and has faded, the priest is to shut him away for seven days. 27 The priest is to examine him on the seventh day. If it does spread in the skin, the priest is to declare him unclean; it is an affliction of leprosy. 28 But if the bright spot stays in its place and has not spread in the skin, and has faded, it is the swelling of the burn. The priest is to declare him clean, for it is the scar of the burn. 29 When a man or a woman has an affliction on the head or on the beard, 30 the priest is to examine the affliction. If its look is deeper than the skin and there is thin yellow hair in it, the priest is to declare him unclean. It is a scall; it is leprosy of the head or of the beard. 31 But if the priest examines the affliction of the scall and its look is not deeper than the skin, and there is no sound hair in it, the priest is to shut away the one with the affliction of the scall for seven days. 32 The priest is to examine the scall on the seventh day. If the scall has not spread, and there is no yellow hair in it, and the look of the scall is not deeper than the skin, 33 he is to cut his hair, but he is not to cut the scall. The priest is to shut away the one with the scall for seven days a second time. 34 The priest is to examine the scall on the seventh day. If the scall has not spread in the skin and its look is not deeper than the skin, the priest is to declare him clean. He is to wash his garments and be clean. 35 But if the scall does spread in the skin after his cleansing, 36 the priest is to examine him, and if the scall has spread in the skin, the priest is not to look for the yellow hair; he is unclean. 37 But if in its appearance the scall has stood still and sound hair has grown in it, the scall has healed; he is clean, and the priest is to declare him clean. 38 When a man or a woman has bright spots on the skin of their body, white bright spots, 39 the priest is to examine [them]. If the bright spots on the skin of their body are a faded white, it is a rash that has broken out in the skin; he is clean. 40 When a man's head loses its hair, he is bald; he is clean. 41 If his head loses its hair at the front of his face, he is bald at the forehead; he is clean. 42 But if there is on his bald head or on his bald forehead a white-reddish affliction, it is leprosy breaking out on his bald head or on his bald forehead. 43 The priest is to examine it, and if the swelling of the affliction is white-reddish on his bald head or on his bald forehead, like the look of leprosy in the skin of the body, 44 he is a leprous man; he is unclean. The priest must declare him unclean; his affliction is on his head. 45 As for the leper who has the affliction, his garments are to be torn and his head left uncovered. He is to wrap himself up to his lips and be unclean; 'Unclean' he is to be called. 46 All the days that the affliction is on him he remains unclean; he is unclean. He is to live alone; his dwelling is to be outside the camp. 47 When a garment has an affliction of leprosy in it, a wool garment or a linen garment, 48 or in the warp or in the woof of linen or of wool, or in leather or in any work of leather, 49 and the affliction is green or red in the garment, or in the woof, or in any article of leather, it is an affliction of leprosy, and it is to be shown to the priest. 50 The priest is to examine the affliction and shut away the afflicted thing for seven days. 51 He is to examine the affliction on the seventh day. If the affliction has spread in the garment, or in the warp or in the woof, or in the leather, whatever the leather is made into for work, it is a malignant leprosy; the affliction is unclean. 52 He is to burn the garment, or the warp or the woof, in the wool or in the linen, or any article of leather that has the affliction in it, for it is a malignant leprosy; it is to be burned in fire. 53 But if the priest examines [it] and the affliction has not spread in the garment, or in the warp or in the woof, or in any article of leather, 54 the priest is to give orders, and they are to wash the thing that has the affliction in it, and he is to shut it away for seven days a second time. 55 The priest is to examine the affliction after it has been washed. If the affliction has not changed from its appearance, and the affliction has not spread, it is unclean; you are to burn it in fire. It is a corrosion, whether in its worn part or in its bare part. 56 But if the priest sees that the affliction has faded after they washed it, they are to tear it out of the garment, or out of the leather, or out of the warp, or out of the woof. 57 If it shows again in the garment, or in the warp, or in the woof, or in any article of leather, it is spreading; you are to burn in fire the thing that has the affliction in it. 58 As for the garment, or the warp, or the woof, or any article of leather that is washed, and the affliction departs from them, it is to be washed a second time and be clean." 59 This is the law for an affliction of leprosy in a garment of wool or of linen, or in warp or woof, or in any article of leather, for declaring it clean or declaring it unclean.
1 And Shema spoke with Moses, saying: 2 "This shall be the law of the leper on the day of his cleansing: he shall be brought into the hand of the priest. 3 And the priest shall go out to the outside of the camp, and the priest shall look, and if the plague of leprosy has healed from the leper, 4 the priest shall give orders, and they shall take for the one being cleansed two living, clean birds, and cedar wood, and dyed crimson, and hyssop. 5 And the priest shall give orders, and they shall slaughter the one bird inside an earthenware vessel over living water. 6 As for the living bird, he shall take it, together with the cedar wood, the dyed crimson and the hyssop, and he shall dip them and the living bird in the blood of the slaughtered bird over the living water. 7 And he shall sprinkle the one being cleansed from the leprosy seven times and declare him clean, and he shall send the living bird away over the face of the field. 8 The one being cleansed shall wash his clothes, shave off all his hair and bathe in water, and he shall be clean. After that he may enter the camp, but he shall stay outside his dwelling for seven days. 9 On the seventh day he shall shave off all his hair, from his head, from his beard and from his eyebrows; all his hair he shall shave off. And he shall wash his clothes and bathe his body in water, and he shall be clean. 10 On the eighth day he shall take two unblemished male lambs a year old, one unblemished ewe lamb a year old, three tenths of fine flour [as] a grain offering mixed with oil, and one log of oil. 11 And the priest who performs the cleansing shall stand the man being cleansed, together with these, before Shema at the door of the tent of meeting. 12 And the priest shall take the one lamb and present it as a guilt offering, along with the log of oil, and wave them as a wave offering before Shema. 13 He shall slaughter the lamb in the place where they slaughter the sin offering and the burnt offering, in the holy place; for the guilt offering, like the sin offering, belongs to the priest; it is most holy. 14 And the priest shall take some of the blood of the guilt offering and put [it] on the top of the right ear of the one being cleansed, on the thumb of his right hand and on the big toe of his right foot. 15 The priest shall take some of the log of oil and pour [it] onto the priest's left palm. 16 And the priest shall dip his right finger in the oil that is on his left palm and sprinkle some of the oil seven times before Shema. 17 The rest of the oil that is on his palm the priest shall put on the top of the right ear of the one being cleansed, on the thumb of his right hand and on the big toe of his right foot, on top of the blood of the guilt offering. 18 What is left of the oil on the priest's palm he shall put on the head of the one being cleansed, and the priest shall make atonement for him before Shema. 19 The priest shall perform the sin offering and make atonement for the one being cleansed from his uncleanness, and afterward he shall slaughter the burnt offering. 20 The priest shall offer up the burnt offering [and] the grain offering on the altar before Shema; so the priest shall make atonement for him, and he will be clean. 21 If he is poor and his means do not reach [that far], he shall take one lamb as a guilt offering for waving, to make atonement for him, and one tenth of fine flour mixed with oil for a grain offering, and a log of oil, 22 and two turtledoves or two young pigeons, whatever his means can reach; one shall be a sin offering and one a burnt offering. 23 He shall bring them on the eighth day for his cleansing into the hand of the priest, at the door of the tent of meeting, before Shema. 24 The priest shall take the lamb of the guilt offering and the log of oil and wave them as a wave offering before Shema. 25 And he shall slaughter the lamb of the guilt offering, and the priest shall take some of the blood of the guilt offering and put [it] on the top of the right ear of the one being cleansed, on the thumb of his right hand and on the big toe of his right foot. 26 And the priest shall pour some of the oil onto the priest's left palm, 27 and the priest shall sprinkle with his right finger some of the oil that is on his left palm seven times before Shema. 28 The priest shall put some of the oil that is on his palm on the top of the right ear of the one being cleansed, on the thumb of his right hand and on the big toe of his right foot, on the spot where the blood of the guilt offering is. 29 What is left of the oil on the priest's palm he shall put on the head of the one being cleansed, to make atonement for him before Shema. 30 Then he shall perform [the offering of] one of the turtledoves or of the young pigeons, whatever his means can reach, 31 whatever his means can reach: one as a sin offering and one as a burnt offering, with the grain offering, and he shall make atonement for the one being cleansed before Shema." 32 This is the law for one who has a plague of leprosy, whose means cannot reach [far enough]. 33 And Shema spoke with Moses and with Aaron, saying: 34 "When you enter the land of Canaan, which I am giving you as a holding, and I put a plague of leprosy in a house in the land of your holding, 35 the owner of the house shall come and tell the priest, 'Something like a plague has shown itself to me in the house.' 36 And the priest shall give orders, and they shall clear out the house before the priest goes in to see the plague, so that everything in the house does not become unclean; and after that the priest shall go in to see the house. 37 And the priest shall look at the plague, and if the plague in the walls of the house [shows] hollows, greenish or reddish, whose appearance differs from the wall, 38 the priest shall go out of the house to the door of the house and shut the house up for seven days. 39 The priest shall come back on the seventh day and look, and if the plague has spread in the walls of the house, 40 the priest shall give orders, and they shall pull out the stones that have the plague in them and throw them outside the city into an unclean place. 41 And they shall scrape the house inside all around, and they shall dump the dust they have scraped off outside the city into an unclean place. 42 Then they shall take other stones and put [them] in place of the stones, and they shall take other dust and plaster the house. 43 If the plague comes back and breaks out in the house after the stones have been pulled out, after the house has been scraped and after it has been plastered, 44 the priest shall go in and look, and if the plague has broken out in the house, it is a malignant leprosy in the house; it is unclean. 45 They shall tear down the house, its stones, its timbers and all the dust of the house, and carry [them] outside the city to an unclean place. 46 Whoever goes into the house during all the days it is shut up shall be unclean until evening. 47 Whoever lies down in the house shall wash his clothes, and whoever sweeps in the house shall wash his clothes. 48 But if the priest does come in and look, and the plague has not spread in the house after the house has been plastered, the priest shall declare the house clean, because the plague has healed. 49 To make atonement for the house they shall take two birds, and cedar wood, and dyed crimson, and hyssop. 50 He shall slaughter the one bird inside an earthenware vessel over living water. 51 He shall take the cedar wood, the dyed crimson, the hyssop and the living bird, dip them in the blood of the slaughtered bird and in the living water, and sprinkle the house seven times. 52 So he shall make atonement for the house with the blood of the bird, with the living water, with the living bird, with the cedar wood, with the dyed crimson [and] with the hyssop, 53 and he shall send the living bird outside the city over the face of the field, and he shall make atonement for the house, and it shall be clean." 54 This is the law for every plague of leprosy and for the scall, 55 for the leprosy of a garment and for the house, 56 for the swelling, for the scab and for the bright spot, 57 to teach on which day [a thing] is unclean and on which day it is clean. This is the law of leprosy.
1 And Shema spoke with Moses and with Aaron, saying, 2 "Speak with the children of Israel and tell them: Any man, if he has a discharge from his flesh, his discharge is unclean. 3 And this shall be his uncleanness in his discharge: whether his flesh runs moist with his discharge or his flesh is sealed off from his discharge, he is unclean. All the days his flesh discharges, or his flesh is sealed off from his discharge, it is his uncleanness. 4 Every bed on which the one with the discharge lies shall be unclean, and every object on which he sits shall be unclean. 5 And anyone who touches his bed shall wash his garments and bathe in water and be unclean until evening. 6 And whoever sits on an object on which the one with the discharge has sat shall wash his garments and bathe in water and be unclean until evening. 7 And whoever touches the flesh of the one with the discharge shall wash his garments and bathe in water and be unclean until evening. 8 And if the one with the discharge spits on someone who is clean, that person shall wash his garments, bathe, and be unclean until evening. 9 And every riding seat on which the one with the discharge rides shall be unclean. 10 And whoever touches anything that is under him shall be unclean until evening, and whoever carries them shall wash his garments and bathe in water and be unclean until evening. 11 And anyone the one with the discharge touches without having rinsed his hands in water shall wash his garments and bathe in water and be unclean until evening. 12 And a clay vessel that the one with the discharge touches shall be broken, and every wooden vessel shall be rinsed in water. 13 And when the one with the discharge becomes clean of his discharge, he shall count for himself seven days for his cleansing, and wash his garments and bathe his flesh in living water, and he will be clean. 14 And on the eighth day he shall take for himself two turtledoves or two young pigeons, and come before Shema to the entrance of the tent of meeting and hand them to the priest. 15 And the priest shall prepare them, one as a sin offering and the other as a burned offering, and the priest shall atone for him before Shema for his discharge. 16 And a man from whom an emission of seed goes out shall bathe all his flesh in water and be unclean until evening. 17 And every garment and every skin on which there is an emission of seed he shall wash in water, and it will be unclean until evening. 18 And a woman whose husband lies with her with an emission of seed: they shall bathe in water and be unclean until evening. 19 And a woman, if she has a discharge, [and] her discharge in her flesh is blood, shall be in her impurity for seven days; everyone who touches her shall be unclean until evening. 20 And everything she lies on during her impurity shall be unclean, and everything she sits on shall be unclean. 21 Everyone who touches her bed shall wash his garments and bathe in water and be unclean until evening. 22 And everyone who touches any object she sits on shall wash his garments and bathe in water and be unclean until evening. 23 And if it is on the bed, or on the object she is sitting on, when he touches it he shall be unclean until evening. 24 And if her husband does lie with her and her impurity comes upon him, he shall be unclean for seven days; every bed he lies on shall be unclean. 25 And a woman, if her blood flows for many days outside the time of her impurity, or if she flows beyond her impurity, all the days of her unclean discharge she shall be as in the days of her impurity; she is unclean. 26 Every bed she lies on all the days of her discharge shall be to her like the bed of her impurity, and every object she sits on shall be unclean, like the uncleanness of her impurity. 27 Everyone who touches them shall be unclean, and shall wash his garments and bathe in water and be unclean until evening. 28 And if she becomes clean of her discharge, she shall count for herself seven days, and after that she will be clean. 29 On the eighth day she shall take for herself two turtledoves or two young pigeons and bring them to the priest at the entrance of the tent of meeting. 30 And the priest shall prepare the one as a sin offering and the other as a burned offering, and the priest shall atone for her before Shema for her unclean discharge. 31 And you shall warn the children of Israel away from their uncleanness, so that they do not die in their uncleanness by defiling my dwelling that is among them." 32 This is the law of the one with a discharge, and of the one from whom an emission of seed goes out so that he becomes unclean by it, 33 and of her who is unwell in her impurity, and of the one whose discharge flows, male or female, and of a man who lies with an unclean [woman].
1 And Shema spoke with Moses after the death of Aaron's two sons, when they came near before Shema and died. 2 And Shema said to Moses, "Speak with Aaron your brother, that he not enter the sanctuary at any time, inside the veil, in front of the ark-cover that is on the ark, so that he does not die; for I appear in the cloud over the ark-cover. 3 With this Aaron shall enter the sanctuary: with a young bull from the herd as a sin offering and a ram as a burned offering. 4 He shall put on a holy linen tunic, and linen breeches shall be on his flesh; he shall be girded with a linen sash and wrapped in a linen head-wrap. They are holy garments; he shall bathe all his flesh in water and put them on. 5 And from the congregation of the children of Israel he shall take two male goats as a sin offering and one ram as a burned offering. 6 And Aaron shall bring near his own bull of the sin offering and atone for himself and for his household. 7 And he shall take the two goats and stand them before Shema at the entrance of the tent of meeting. 8 And Aaron shall put lots on the two goats, one lot for Shema and one lot for Azazel. 9 And Aaron shall bring near the goat on which the lot for Shema fell and make it a sin offering. 10 And the goat on which the lot for Azazel fell shall be stood alive before Shema to make atonement over it, to send it off to Azazel into the wilderness. 11 And Aaron shall bring near his own bull of the sin offering and atone for himself and for his household, and slaughter his own bull of the sin offering. 12 And he shall take a fire-pan full of fiery coals from upon the altar before Shema, and his two handfuls of fine ground spice incense, and bring [them] inside the veil. 13 And he shall put the incense on the fire before Shema, and the cloud of incense will cover the ark-cover that is over the testimony, and he will not die. 14 And he shall take some of the bull's blood and sprinkle [it] with his finger on the front of the ark-cover, eastward; and in front of the ark-cover he shall sprinkle some of the blood with his finger seven times. 15 And he shall slaughter the goat of the sin offering that is for the people and bring its blood inside the veil, and do with its blood as he did with the bull's blood, and sprinkle it on the ark-cover and in front of the ark-cover. 16 And he shall atone for the sanctuary because of the uncleannesses of the children of Israel and their transgressions, all their iniquities; and he shall do the same for the tent of meeting, which dwells with them amid their uncleannesses. 17 And no one shall be in the tent of meeting when he goes in to atone in the sanctuary until he comes out; and he shall atone for himself and for his household and for all the assembly of Israel. 18 And he shall go out to the altar that is before Shema and atone for it, and take some of the bull's blood and some of the goat's blood and put [it] on the horns of the altar all around. 19 And he shall sprinkle some of the blood on it with his finger seven times, and cleanse it and sanctify it from the uncleannesses of the children of Israel. 20 And he shall finish atoning for the sanctuary and the tent of meeting and the altar, and bring near the living goat. 21 And Aaron shall lay his two hands on the head of the living goat and confess over it all the iniquities of the children of Israel and all their transgressions, all their sins, and put them on the goat's head, and it shall be sent off into the wilderness in the hand of a man made ready. 22 And the goat shall carry on itself all their iniquities to a land cut off, and he shall send the goat away in the wilderness. 23 And Aaron shall enter the tent of meeting and strip off the linen garments he wore when he went into the sanctuary, and leave them there. 24 In a holy place he shall bathe his flesh in water, then put on his garments, go out, and prepare his burned offering and the people’s burned offering, and atone for himself and for the people. 25 The fat of the sin offering he shall burn on the altar. 26 And the one who sends the goat off to Azazel shall wash his garments and bathe his flesh in water, and after that he may enter the camp. 27 The sin-offering bull and the sin-offering goat, whose blood was brought in to atone in the sanctuary, shall be taken outside the camp, and their skins, their flesh and their dung shall be burned in fire. 28 And the one who burns them shall wash his garments and bathe his flesh in water, and after that he may enter the camp. 29 And it shall be an everlasting statute for you: in the seventh month, on the tenth of the month, you shall afflict your souls and do no work, neither the native-born nor the convert who lives as a convert among you. 30 For on this day atonement will be made for you, to cleanse you from all your iniquities; before Shema you will be clean. 31 It is a Sabbath of rest for you, and you shall afflict your souls, an everlasting statute. 32 And the priest who is anointed and installed in his post to serve as priest in his father's place shall make atonement, and he shall put on the linen garments, the holy garments. 33 And he shall atone for the holy sanctuary, and for the tent of meeting and the altar he shall atone, and for the priests and for all the people of the assembly he shall atone. 34 And this shall be an everlasting statute for you, to atone for the children of Israel for all their iniquities once a year." And he did as Shema had commanded Moses.
1 And Shema spoke with Moses, saying: 2 “Speak with Aaron and with his sons and with all the children of Israel, and tell them, ‘This is the word that Shema has commanded, saying, 3 “Any man of the house of Israel who slaughters an ox or a lamb or a goat in the camp, or who slaughters [it] outside the camp, 4 and has not brought it to the door of the tent of meeting to make it a burnt offering or peace offerings to Shema, for your acceptance, for a pleasing aroma, but slaughtered it outside and has not brought it to the door of the tent of meeting to present it as an offering to Shema before the dwelling of Shema, blood shall be counted against that man. He has shed blood, and that man shall be uprooted from among his people. 5 [This is] so that the children of Israel will bring their sacrifices that they sacrifice out in the open field, and bring them to Shema at the door of the tent of meeting, to the priest, and sacrifice them as sacrifices of peace offerings to Shema. 6 And the priest shall sprinkle the blood on the altar of Shema at the door of the tent of meeting, and burn the fat as a pleasing aroma to Shema. 7 And they shall no longer sacrifice their sacrifices to the gates that they go whoring after. This shall be a lasting decree for them, for their generations.” 8 And you shall tell them, “Any man of the house of Israel, or of the proselytes who dwell among them, who offers a burnt offering or a sacrifice, 9 and does not bring it to the door of the tent of meeting to offer it to Shema, that man shall be uprooted from his people. 10 And any person of the house of Israel, or of the proselytes who dwell among them, who eats any blood, I will set my anger against the soul that eats the blood, and I will uproot him from among his people. 11 For the life of the flesh is in the blood, and on the altar I have given it to you to atone for your souls, since it is the blood that atones for the soul. 12 That is why I told the children of Israel, ‘No soul among you shall eat blood, and the proselyte who lives as a proselyte among you shall not eat blood.’ 13 And any man of the house of Israel, or of the proselytes who live as proselytes among them, who hunts game, an animal or a bird that may be eaten, shall pour out its blood and cover it with dust. 14 For the life of all flesh: its blood is with its life. And I told the children of Israel, ‘The blood of any flesh you shall not eat, for the life of all flesh is its blood. Anyone who eats it shall be uprooted.’ 15 And every soul who flays a carcass or a torn [animal], whether a native or a proselyte, shall wash his clothes and bathe in water, and be unclean until evening. 16 But if he does not wash [them] and does not bathe his flesh, he shall bear his guilt.”’”
1 And Shema spoke with Moses, saying: 2 “Speak with the children of Israel and tell them, ‘I am Shema your God. 3 You shall not act like the deeds of the land of Egypt, where you lived, and you shall not act like the deeds of the land of Canaan, where I am bringing you. You shall not walk in their customs. 4 You shall carry out my judgments and keep my decrees, to walk in them. I am Shema your God. 5 And you shall keep my decrees and my judgments; a person who does them shall live by them. I am Shema. 6 No one at all shall come near any relative of his own flesh to uncover nakedness. I am Shema. 7 You shall not uncover the nakedness of your father or the nakedness of your mother. She is your mother; you shall not uncover her nakedness. 8 You shall not uncover the nakedness of your father’s wife. It is your father’s nakedness. 9 The nakedness of your sister, your father’s daughter or your mother’s daughter, whether born in the house or born outside: you shall not uncover her nakedness. 10 The nakedness of your son’s daughter or of your daughter’s daughter you shall not uncover, for they are your own nakedness. 11 The nakedness of the daughter of your father’s wife, born to your father: she is your sister; you shall not uncover her nakedness. 12 You shall not uncover the nakedness of your father’s sister. She is your father’s kin. 13 You shall not uncover the nakedness of your mother’s sister. She is your mother’s kin. 14 You shall not uncover the nakedness of your father’s brother, and you shall not come near his wife. She is your aunt. 15 Your daughter-in-law’s nakedness you shall not uncover. She is your son’s wife; do not uncover her nakedness. 16 You shall not uncover the nakedness of your brother’s wife. It is your brother’s nakedness. 17 Do not uncover the nakedness of a woman and also of her daughter. Neither her son’s daughter nor her daughter’s daughter may you take to uncover her nakedness. They are kin; it is lewdness. 18 And you shall not take a woman together with her sister, to make her a rival, uncovering her nakedness alongside her while she is alive. 19 And you shall not come near a woman during the impurity of her uncleanness to uncover her nakedness. 20 And you shall not lie with your neighbor’s wife for seed, making yourself unclean with her. 21 And you shall not give any of your seed to serve Molech, and you shall not profane the name of your God. I am Shema. 22 And you shall not lie with a male as one lies with a woman. It is an abomination. 23 You shall not lie with any animal, making yourself unclean with it, and a woman shall not stand before an animal to mate [with it]. It is a provocation. 24 Do not make yourselves unclean with any of these things, for with all of these the nations that I am driving out before you made themselves unclean. 25 And the land became unclean, and I brought its guilt down on it, and the land vomited out its inhabitants. 26 And you shall keep my decrees and my judgments, and you shall not do any of these abominations, neither the native nor the proselyte who lives as a proselyte among you, 27 for the people of the land who were before you did all these abominations, and the land became unclean, 28 so that the land does not vomit you out when you make it unclean, as it vomited out the nation that was before you. 29 For anyone who does any of these abominations, the souls that do [them] shall be uprooted from among their people. 30 And you shall keep my charge, not to practice any of the abominable customs that were practiced before you, and you shall not make yourselves unclean by them. For I am Shema your God.’”
1 And Shema spoke with Moses, saying, 2 "Speak with the whole assembly of the children of Israel and tell them, 'You shall be holy, for I, Shema your God, am holy. 3 Each person shall revere his mother and his father, and you shall keep my Sabbaths. I am Shema your God. 4 Do not turn toward the idols, and do not make yourselves gods of cast metal. I am Shema your God. 5 And when you sacrifice a sacrifice of peace offerings to Shema, sacrifice it so that you are accepted. 6 It shall be eaten on the day of your sacrifice and on the day after, and whatever is left until the third day shall be burned in fire. 7 And if any of it is eaten on the third day, it is void; it will not be accepted. 8 And whoever eats it shall bear his guilt, for he has profaned what is holy to Shema, and that person shall be uprooted from his people. 9 And when you reap the harvest of your land, do not finish off the edge of your field in reaping, and do not gather the gleanings of your harvest. 10 And do not strip your vineyard bare, and do not gather the fallen grapes of your vineyard; leave them for the poor and for the stranger. I am Shema your God. 11 You shall not steal; you shall not lie, and you shall not deal falsely, one person with his fellow. 12 And you shall not swear falsely by my name and so profane the name of your God. I am Shema. 13 You shall not oppress your fellow, and you shall not rob [him]. Do not keep the wages of a hired worker with you overnight until morning. 14 You shall not curse the deaf, and you shall not put a stumbling block before the blind; and you shall fear your God. I am Shema. 15 You shall do no falsehood in judgment. You shall not show favor to the poor, and you shall not bow before the great; judge your fellow in truth. 16 You shall not go about as a slanderer among your people; you shall not stand against the blood of your fellow. I am Shema. 17 You shall not hate your brother in your heart. Rebuke your fellow plainly, and do not take on sin because of him. 18 You shall not take vengeance, and you shall not hold a grudge against the children of your people, and you shall love your fellow as yourself. I am Shema. 19 You shall keep my decrees. Do not let your cattle mount [another] kind, and a garment of mixed kinds, of blended [threads], shall not come upon you. 20 And if a man lies with a woman, lying with seed, and she is a slave woman pledged to a man, and she has not been redeemed at all, nor has freedom been given to her, there shall be an inquiry concerning her; he shall not be put to death, because she was not free. 21 And he shall bring his guilt offering to Shema, to the entrance of the tent of meeting, a ram as a guilt offering. 22 And the priest shall make atonement for him with the ram of the guilt offering before Shema for his sin that he sinned, and he shall be forgiven of his sin that he sinned. 23 And when you enter the land and plant any tree for food, you shall treat its fruit as unfit; for three years they shall be unfit to you; it shall not be eaten. 24 And in the fourth year all its fruit shall be holy, praises to Shema. 25 And in the fifth year you shall eat its fruit, so as to gather in its produce for yourselves. I am Shema your God. 26 You shall not eat over the blood. You shall not practice divination, and you shall not practice soothsaying. 27 And you shall not round off the edge of your heads, and you shall not ruin the edge of your beards. 28 And you shall not put a cut in your flesh for a soul, and you shall not put fixed writing on yourselves. I am Shema. 29 Do not hand your daughter over to harlotry, so that the land does not fall into harlotry and the land become full of harlotry. 30 You shall keep my Sabbaths and fear my sanctuary. I am Shema. 31 Do not turn to the mediums or to the diviners; do not seek them out to be defiled by them. I am Shema your God. 32 You shall rise before gray hair and honor the face of the wise, and you shall fear your God. I am Shema. 33 And if a stranger lives with you in your land, you shall not wrong him. 34 The stranger who lives with you shall be to you like a native among you, and you shall love him as yourself, for you were strangers in the land of Egypt. I am Shema your God. 35 You shall do no falsehood in judgment, in measuring, in weighing, or in measures. 36 True scales, true weights, a true ephah and a true hin: these you shall have. I am Shema your God; it was I who brought you out of the land of Egypt. 37 And you shall keep all my decrees [and] all my judgments and do them. I am Shema.'"
1 And Shema spoke with Moses, saying, 2 "And say to the children of Israel: Any man of the house of Israel, or of the strangers who live in Israel, who gives of his offspring to Molech shall surely be put to death; the people of the land shall stone him with stones. 3 And I will set my anger against that man and uproot him from among his people, because he gave of his offspring to Molech so as to defile my sanctuary and profane my holy name. 4 And if the people of the land should in any way shut their eyes to that man when he gives some of his offspring to Molech, so as not to put him to death, 5 then I will set my anger against that man and against his family, and I will uproot him and all who stray after him to go whoring after Molech from among their people. 6 And the person who turns to the mediums and to the diviners to go whoring after them, I will set my anger against that person and uproot him from among his people. 7 And you shall be holy, for holy am I, Shema your God. 8 And you shall keep all my decrees and do them. I am Shema who sanctifies you. 9 For anyone who curses his father or his mother shall surely be put to death; he has cursed his father and his mother; his blood is on him. 10 And a man who commits adultery with the wife of a man, who commits adultery with the wife of his fellow, the adulterer and the adulteress shall surely be put to death. 11 And a man who lies with his father's wife has uncovered his father's nakedness; both of them shall surely be put to death; their blood is on them. 12 If a man lies with his daughter-in-law, the two of them shall surely be put to death; an outrage they have committed; their blood is on them. 13 And a man who lies with a male as one lies with a woman, they have committed an abomination; both of them shall surely be put to death; their blood is on them. 14 And a man who takes a woman and her mother, it is harlotry; they shall burn him and them with fire, and there will be no harlotry in your midst. 15 And a man who has intercourse with a beast shall surely be put to death, and you shall kill the beast. 16 And a woman who approaches any beast to lie down with it: you shall kill the woman and also the beast. Both shall surely be put to death; their blood is on them. 17 And a man who takes his sister, the daughter of his father or of his mother, and sees her nakedness while she sees his nakedness: it is a disgrace, and before the eyes of the children of their people they shall be uprooted; he has uncovered his sibling’s nakedness; he shall bear his guilt. 18 And a man who lies with a woman who is unwell and uncovers her nakedness, he has laid bare the source of her nakedness, and she has uncovered the source of her blood; both of them shall be uprooted from among their people. 19 You shall not uncover the nakedness of your father's sister or your mother's sister, for [it lays bare] the source of their nakedness; they shall bear their guilt. 20 And a man who lies with his uncle's wife has uncovered his uncle's nakedness; they shall bear their guilt; they shall be put to death childless. 21 And a man who takes his brother's wife, it is impurity; he has uncovered his brother's nakedness; they shall be childless. 22 And you shall keep all my decrees and all my judgments and do them, and the land to which I am bringing you to live in it will not vomit you out. 23 And you shall not walk in the laws of the nations whom I am sending away before you, for they did all these things, and I was distressed with them. 24 And I said to you, You shall inherit their land, and I will give it to you to inherit it, a land flowing with milk and honey. I am Shema your God, who separated you from the peoples. 25 And you shall separate between the clean beast and the unclean, and between the unclean bird and the clean, and you shall not make yourselves detestable by beast or by bird or by anything that creeps on the ground, which I have separated for you as unclean. 26 And you shall be holy to me, for I am Shema, and I have separated you from the peoples to be mine. 27 And a man or a woman in whom there is a medium or a diviner shall surely be put to death; you shall stone them with stones; their blood is on them."
1 And Shema said to Moses, "Tell the priests, Aaron's sons, and say to them: No one is to make himself unclean for a dead person among his people, 2 except for a relative close to him: his father and his mother, his son and his daughter, his brother, 3 and for his virgin sister who is close to him, who has not belonged to a husband; for her he may make himself unclean. 4 He is not to make himself unclean as a master among his people, and so profane himself. 5 They are not to shave bald patches on their heads, or clip the edges of their beards, or cut gashes in their flesh. 6 They are to be holy to their God and are not to profane the name of their God, for they are the ones who present the offerings of Shema, the bread of their God; so they are to be holy. 7 They are not to marry a woman who is a prostitute or defiled, for he is holy to his God. 8 You are to treat him as holy, for he presents the bread of your God; he is to be holy to you, for I, Shema, who make them holy, am holy. 9 And if the daughter of a priest begins to prostitute herself, she brings profanation on her father; she is to be burned in fire. 10 And the priest who is greater than his brothers, on whose head the anointing oil has been poured and who has been installed to wear the vestments, is not to let his head go uncovered or tear his vestments, 11 and he is not to go in to any dead person; for his father or for his mother he is not to make himself unclean, 12 and he is not to leave the sanctuary or profane the sanctuary of his God, for the crown of his God's anointing oil is upon him. I am Shema. 13 And he is to marry a wife while she is a virgin. 14 A widow, a divorced woman, a defiled woman or a prostitute, these he is not to marry; only a virgin of his own people is he to take as a wife. 15 And he is not [to profane] his offspring among his people, for I am Shema who makes him holy." 16 And Shema spoke with Moses, saying, 17 "Speak with Aaron, saying: No man of your offspring, in any of their generations, who has a defect is to come near to offer the bread of his God. 18 For no man who has a defect is to come near: a blind man, or a lame one, or one with a disfigured face, or one with a limb too long, 19 or a man who has a broken leg or a broken hand, 20 or a hunchback, or a dwarf, or one with a film over his eyes, or one with scurvy, or with scabs, or with crushed testicles. 21 No man of the offspring of Aaron the priest who has a defect is to come near to present the offerings of Shema; he has a defect; he is not to come near to offer the bread of his God. 22 He may eat of the most holy things and of the holy things, 23 but he is not to go in to the curtain or come near the altar, for he has a defect, and he is not to profane my sanctuaries, for I am Shema who makes them holy." 24 And Moses spoke with Aaron and with his sons and with all the children of Israel.
1 And Shema spoke with Moses, saying, 2 "Speak with Aaron and with his sons, so that they keep themselves apart from the holy things of the children of Israel and do not profane my holy name in what they consecrate to me. I am Shema. 3 Say to them: Throughout your generations, any man of all your offspring who comes near the holy things that the children of Israel consecrate to Shema while his uncleanness is on him, that person will be uprooted from before me. I am Shema. 4 Any man of Aaron's offspring who is a leper or has a discharge is not to eat of the holy things until he is clean; and whoever touches anything made unclean by a dead person, or a man who has an emission of semen, 5 or a man who touches any unclean creeping thing that makes him unclean, or a person who makes him unclean, whatever that person's uncleanness may be, 6 the person who touches it will be unclean until evening and is not to eat of the holy things unless he has washed his body in water. 7 When the sun has set he is clean, and afterward he may eat of the holy things, for it is his bread. 8 They are not to strip a carcass or a mauled animal and so become unclean by it. I am Shema. 9 They are to keep my charge, so that they do not bear sin on account of it and die by it when they profane it. I am Shema who makes them holy. 10 No outsider is to eat a holy thing; a priest's resident or a hired worker is not to eat a holy thing. 11 But if a priest acquires a person, bought with his money, that person may eat of it; and those born in his household may eat of his bread. 12 If a priest's daughter belongs to an outsider, she is not to eat of the contribution of the holy things. 13 But if a priest's daughter becomes a widow or is divorced, and has no offspring, and returns to her father's house as in her youth, she may eat of her father's bread; but no outsider is to eat of it. 14 If a person eats a holy thing by mistake, he is to add a fifth to it and give the holy thing to the priest. 15 They are not to profane the holy things of the children of Israel that they set aside for Shema, 16 and so make them bear the guilt of wrongdoing when they eat their holy things, for I am Shema who makes them holy." 17 And Shema spoke with Moses, saying, 18 "Speak with Aaron and with his sons and with all the children of Israel, and say to them: Any man of the house of Israel, or of the converts who have converted in Israel, who presents his offering for any of their vows or any of their freewill gifts that they present to Shema as a burnt offering, 19 [it must be,] for your acceptance, an unblemished male from the cattle, from the sheep or from the goats. 20 You are not to present anything that has a defect, for it will not be accepted for you. 21 And if a person presents a sacrifice of peace offerings to Shema to fulfill a vow, or as a freewill gift, from the cattle or from the flock, it must be unblemished to be accepted; there is to be no defect in it at all. 22 A blind, broken, mutilated, wounded, scurvied or scabbed [animal] you are not to present to Shema, and you are not to put an offering of them on the altar for Shema. 23 A bull or a ewe that is slit or docked you may make into a freewill gift, but for a vow it will not be accepted. 24 [An animal with testicles] bruised, crushed, torn off or cut out you are not to present to Shema, and you are not to do [this] in your land. 25 And you are not to present the bread of your God from any of these from the hand of a foreigner, for there is corruption in them; they have a defect; they will not be accepted for you." 26 And Shema spoke with Moses, saying, 27 "When a bull, or a lamb, or a goat is born, it is to stay seven days under its mother, and from the eighth day on it will be accepted as an offering, an offering to Shema. 28 A bull or a ewe and its young you are not to slaughter on the same day. 29 And when you sacrifice a thanksgiving sacrifice to Shema, sacrifice it so that you are accepted. 30 It is to be eaten that same day; you are not to leave any of it until morning. I am Shema. 31 You are to keep my commandments and do them. 32 You are not to profane my holy name, and I will be made holy among the children of Israel. I am Shema who makes them holy, 33 who brought you out of the land of Egypt to be God to you. I am Shema."
1 And Shema spoke with Moses, saying: 2 “Speak with the children of Israel and say to them: ‘The appointed times of Shema, which you shall proclaim as holy assemblies — these are my appointed times. 3 For six days work may be done, but on the seventh day [is] a Sabbath of rest, a holy assembly. You shall do no work; it is a Sabbath to Shema in all your dwellings. 4 These are the appointed times of Shema, holy assemblies, which you shall proclaim at their set times. 5 In the first month, on the fourteenth day of the month, between the evenings, [is] the Passover to Shema. 6 And on the fifteenth day of this month [is] the feast of unleavened bread to Shema; for seven days you shall eat unleavened bread. 7 On the first day you shall have a holy assembly; you shall do no laborious work. 8 And you shall bring an offering to Shema for seven days, and on the seventh day [is] a holy assembly; you shall do no laborious work.’” 9 And Shema spoke with Moses, saying: 10 “Speak with the children of Israel and say to them: ‘When you enter the land that I am giving you and reap its harvest, you shall bring the sheaf, the first of your harvest, into the hand of the priest. 11 And he shall wave the sheaf before Shema for your acceptance; on the day after the Sabbath the priest shall wave it. 12 And on the day you wave the sheaf, you shall make a perfect yearling lamb into a burnt offering to Shema. 13 And its grain offering [shall be] two tenths of fine flour mixed with oil, an offering to Shema, a pleasing aroma; and its libation [shall be] wine, a quarter of the hin. 14 And you shall not eat bread or roasted grain or fresh ears until this very day, until you bring the offering of your God — an everlasting decree for your generations in all your dwellings. 15 And you shall count for yourselves from the day after the Sabbath, from the day you bring the sheaf of waving: seven Sabbaths, and they shall be complete. 16 Until the day after the seventh Sabbath you shall count fifty days, and you shall bring a new grain offering to Shema. 17 From your dwellings you shall bring bread for waving, two cakes; they shall be of two tenths of fine flour, baked with leaven, as firstfruits to Shema. 18 And together with the bread you shall bring seven perfect yearling lambs, one young bull of the herd, and two perfect rams; they shall be a burnt offering to Shema, with their grain offering and their libations, an offering of pleasing aroma to Shema. 19 And you shall prepare one male goat for the sin offering and two yearling lambs for the sacrifice of peace offerings. 20 And the priest shall wave them with the bread of the firstfruits as a waving before Shema, together with the two lambs; they shall be holy to Shema, for the priest. 21 And on that very day you shall make a proclamation; it shall be a holy assembly for you; you shall do no laborious work — an everlasting decree in all your dwellings for your generations. 22 And when you reap the harvest of your land, you shall not finish off the edge of the field as you reap, and you shall not glean the gleanings of your harvest; you shall leave them for the poor and for the stranger. I am Shema your God.’” 23 And Shema spoke with Moses, saying: 24 “Speak with the children of Israel, saying: ‘In the seventh month, on the first of the month, you shall have a rest, a memorial of sounding, a holy assembly. 25 You shall do no laborious work, and you shall bring an offering to Shema.’” 26 And Shema spoke with Moses, saying: 27 “But on the tenth of this seventh month it is a day of pardons; it shall be a holy assembly for you, and you shall make your souls fast, and you shall bring an offering to Shema. 28 And you shall do no work on that very day, for it is a day of pardons, for granting pardon for you before Shema your God. 29 For every soul that does not fast on that very day shall be uprooted from its people. 30 And every soul that does any work on that very day — I will destroy that soul from among its people. 31 You shall do no work — an everlasting decree for your generations in all your dwellings. 32 It is a Sabbath of rest for you, and you shall make your souls fast; on the ninth of the month in the evening, from evening until evening, you shall keep your Sabbath rest.’” 33 And Shema spoke with Moses, saying: 34 “Speak with the children of Israel, saying: ‘On the fifteenth day of this seventh month [is] the feast of shelters, seven days to Shema. 35 On the first day [is] a holy assembly; you shall do no laborious work. 36 For seven days you shall bring an offering to Shema; on the eighth day it is a holy assembly for you, and you shall bring an offering to Shema. It is a closing assembly; you shall do no laborious work. 37 These are the appointed times of Shema which you shall proclaim as holy assemblies, for bringing an offering to Shema — burnt offering and grain offering, sacrifice and libations — the matter of each day on its own day, 38 apart from the Sabbaths of Shema, and apart from all your gifts, and apart from all your vows, and apart from all your freewill offerings that you give to Shema. 39 But on the fifteenth day of the seventh month, when you gather in the produce of the land, you shall celebrate the feast of Shema for seven days; on the first day [there shall be] a rest, and on the eighth day a rest. 40 And on the first day you shall take for yourselves fruit of a choice tree, palm branches, twigs of a dense tree, and willows of the stream, and you shall rejoice before Shema your God for seven days. 41 And you shall celebrate it as a feast to Shema for seven days in the year — an everlasting decree for your generations; in the seventh month you shall celebrate it. 42 In shelters you shall dwell for seven days; every native in Israel shall dwell in shelters, 43 so that your generations may know that I made the children of Israel dwell in shelters when I brought them out of the land of Egypt. I am Shema your God.’” 44 And Moses spoke the appointed times of Shema with the children of Israel.
1 And Shema spoke with Moses, saying: 2 “Command the children of Israel, and let them bring to you pure olive [oil], pressed, for light, to keep a lamp burning continually. 3 Outside the veil of the testimony, in the tent of meeting, Aaron and his sons shall arrange it from evening until morning before Shema continually — an everlasting decree for your generations. 4 On the pure lampstand he shall arrange the lamps before Shema until morning. 5 And you shall take fine flour and bake it into twelve cakes; two tenths shall go into one cake. 6 And you shall set them in two rows, six to a row, on the pure table before Shema. 7 And you shall put pure frankincense on the row, and it shall be for the bread as a memorial, an offering to Shema. 8 Sabbath day after Sabbath day he shall arrange it before Shema continually, from the children of Israel — an everlasting covenant. 9 And it shall belong to Aaron and his sons, and they shall eat it in a holy place, for it is most holy to him, from the offerings of Shema — an everlasting share.” 10 And the son of an Israelite woman — he was the son of an Egyptian man — went out among the children of Israel, and the son of the Israelite woman and an Israelite man quarreled in the camp. 11 And the son of the Israelite woman pronounced the Name and cursed, and they brought him to Moses. And his mother’s name was Shelomith, daughter of Dibri, of the tribe of Dan. 12 And he put him under guard, so that it might be made clear to them at the word of Shema. 13 And Shema spoke with Moses, saying: 14 “Take the curser outside the camp, and let all who heard lay their hands on his head, and let the whole congregation stone him. 15 And speak with the children of Israel, saying: ‘Any man who curses his God shall bear his guilt. 16 And whoever pronounces the name of Shema shall surely be killed; the whole congregation shall surely stone him. The stranger as well as the native, when he pronounces the Name, shall be killed. 17 And a man who kills any human life shall surely be killed. 18 And whoever kills the life of an animal shall repay it, life for life. 19 And a man who inflicts an injury on his fellow — as he has done, so shall it be done to him: 20 fracture for fracture, eye for eye, tooth for tooth; as he inflicts an injury on a person, so shall it be inflicted on him. 21 And whoever kills an animal shall repay it, and whoever kills a person shall be killed. 22 You shall have one ruling; the stranger shall be like the native, for I am Shema your God.’” 23 And Moses spoke with the children of Israel, and they took the curser outside the camp and stoned him with stones. And the children of Israel did as Shema had commanded Moses.
1 And Shema spoke with Moses on Mount Sinai, saying: 2 “Speak with the children of Israel and tell them: When you enter the land that I am giving you, the land shall rest a rest to Shema. 3 For six years you shall sow your field, and for six years you shall prune your vineyard and gather in its produce. 4 But in the seventh year the land shall have a rest of ceasing, a rest to Shema. You shall not sow your field, and you shall not prune your vineyard. 5 You shall not reap the hidden growth of your harvest, and you shall not pick the grapes of your crowned [vines]; it is a year of ceasing for the land. 6 The Sabbath of the land shall be food for you: for you and for your servants and for your maidservants and for your hired workers and for your residents who live as sojourners with you, 7 and for your cattle and for the wild animals that are in your land; all its produce shall be for food. 8 You shall count for yourself seven Sabbaths of years, seven years seven times, and the days of the seven Sabbaths of years shall come to forty-nine years for you. 9 Then you shall send around the horn of proclamation in the seventh month, on the tenth of the month; on the day of pardon you shall send the horn around through all your land. 10 You shall make holy the year of the fiftieth year and call out a proclamation in the land to all who live in it. 11 It is a jubilee; the year of fifty years shall be for you. You shall not sow, and you shall not reap what grows of itself, and you shall not pick its crowned [vines]. 12 For it is a jubilee; it shall be holy to you. You shall eat its produce from the field. 13 In this year of jubilee you shall return, each man to his possession. 14 If you sell something to your companion or buy from your companion's hand, you shall not wrong one another. 15 By the count of years after the jubilee you shall buy from your companion's hand; by the count of years of produce he shall sell to you. 16 The more the years, the more its price shall grow; the fewer the years, the more its price shall shrink, for it is a count of produce that he is selling you. 17 Do not wrong one another; fear your God instead, for I am Shema your God. 18 You shall carry out my decrees, and keep my rulings and carry them out, and you shall live on the land in security. 19 The land shall give its fruit, and you shall eat your fill and live on it in security. 20 And if you say, ‘What shall we eat in the seventh year, if we do not sow and do not gather our produce?’ 21 I will appoint my blessing for you in the sixth year, and it shall yield produce for three years. 22 You shall sow in the eighth year and eat old [stores] from its produce until the ninth year; until its produce comes in, you shall eat old [stores]. 23 The land shall not be sold for all time, for the land is mine; you are sojourners and residents with me. 24 And throughout all the land of your possession [there shall be] redemption. 25 If your fellow becomes poor and sells some of his possession, his redeemer who is near to him shall come and redeem what his brother sold. 26 And if a man has no redeemer, but his hand reaches far enough and he finds as much as his redemption [needs], 27 he shall reckon the years of its sale and return the surplus to the man to whom he sold it, and he shall return to his possession. 28 But if his hand does not find enough to get it back for himself, what he sold shall remain in the hand of the one who bought it until the year of jubilee; it shall go out in the jubilee, and he shall return to his possession. 29 If a man sells a dwelling house in a fortified city, its redemption shall last until the full year of its sale is complete; for days its redemption shall last. 30 If he does not redeem it before a full year is completed for him, the house that is in the city that has a fortification shall stand for all time to the one who bought it, for his generations; it shall not go out in the jubilee. 31 But the houses of the villages that have no fortification around [them] shall be reckoned with the field of the land; it shall have redemption, and in the jubilee it shall go out. 32 As for the cities of the Levites, the houses of the cities of their possession, the Levites shall have a perpetual redemption. 33 Whoever redeems from the Levites, the sold house, together with the city he holds as a possession, shall go out in the jubilee, since the houses in the Levites’ cities are their possession among the children of Israel. 34 And the field of the open land of their cities shall not be sold, for it is a perpetual possession for them. 35 If your brother becomes poor and his hand totters beside you, you shall hold him up; [as] a sojourner and a resident, your fellow shall live with you. 36 Do not take doubling or increase from him, but fear your God, and let your brother live with you. 37 You shall not give him your silver at doubling, and you shall not give your food at increase. 38 I am Shema your God, who brought you out of the land of the Egyptians to give you the land of Canaan, to be your God. 39 If your fellow becomes poor beside you and is sold to you, you shall not make him serve with a slave's service. 40 He shall be with you as a hired worker, as a resident; he shall serve with you until the year of jubilee. 41 Then he shall go out from you, he and his sons with him, and [go] back to his family, and he shall return to the possession of his fathers. 42 For they are my servants, the ones I brought out of the land of Egypt; they must not be sold the way a slave is sold. 43 You shall not work him harshly, but you shall fear your God. 44 As for your servants and your maidservants whom you shall have: from the people of the nations that surround you, from them you shall buy servant and maidservant. 45 And also from the children of the residents who live as sojourners among you, from them you shall buy, and from their families that are with you, who were born in your land; and they shall be yours as a possession. 46 You shall pass them on to your children after you to inherit as a possession forever; them you shall make serve. But your brothers, the children of Israel, one man with his brother, you shall not work harshly. 47 If the hand of a sojourner or resident with you gains enough, and your brother becomes poor beside him and is sold to the sojourner or resident with you, or to the root of a sojourner's family, 48 after he is sold he shall have redemption; one of his brothers shall redeem him, 49 or his beloved [kinsman] or his beloved [kinsman]'s son shall redeem him, or one of the near flesh of his family shall redeem him; or if his own hand gains enough, he shall redeem [himself]. 50 He shall reckon with his buyer from the year he was sold to him until the year of the jubilee, and the money of his sale shall be by the count of years; he shall be with him like the days of a hired worker. 51 If many years still remain, he shall return his redemption according to them, out of the money he was bought for. 52 And if few remain of the years until the year of the jubilee, he shall reckon it for him; he shall return his redemption according to his years. 53 He shall be with him as a worker hired year by year; he shall not work him harshly before your eyes. 54 If he is not redeemed by these [means], he shall go out in the year of the jubilee, he and his sons with him. 55 For the children of Israel are servants to me; they are my servants, whom I brought out from the land of Egypt. I am Shema your God.”
1 You shall not make idols for yourselves, and you shall not set up a carved image or a pillar for yourselves, and you shall not place a carved stone in your land to bow down on it, for I am Shema your God. 2 My Sabbaths you shall keep, and my sanctuary you shall fear. I am Shema. 3 If you walk in my decrees and keep my commandments and carry them out, 4 I will give your rains in their times, and the land will give its produce, and the tree of the field will give its fruit. 5 Threshing will last for you until the grape harvest, and the grape harvest will last until the sowing, and you will eat your bread until you are full and live securely in your land. 6 I will put peace in the land, and you will sleep with no one to frighten [you]. I will do away with the evil beast from the land, and the sword will not pass through your land. 7 You will pursue your enemies, and they will fall before you by the sword. 8 Five of you will pursue a hundred, and a hundred of you will pursue ten thousand, and your enemies will fall before you by the sword. 9 I will turn to you in favor, make you fruitful, increase you and establish my covenant with you. 10 You will eat very old [stored grain], and you will bring out the old to make room for the new. 11 I will set my dwelling among you, and my soul will not loathe you. 12 I will walk about among you and be God to you, and you will be a people to me. 13 I am Shema your God, who brought you out of the land of the Egyptians so that you would not be slaves to them. I broke the bars of your yoke and led you upright. 14 But if you do not listen to me and do not carry out all these commandments, 15 if you spurn my decrees, and if your soul loathes my judgments so that you do not do all my commandments, and you break my covenant, 16 then I in turn will do this to you: I will bring harm upon you, the wasting disease and the dimness that blind the eyes and make the soul languish. You will sow your seed for nothing, and your enemies will eat it. 17 I will set my anger against you, and you will be broken before your enemies. Those who hate you will rule over you, and you will flee with no one pursuing you. 18 And if even after these things you do not listen to me, I will go on to discipline you sevenfold for your sins. 19 I will break the forces of your mighty ones, and I will make your sky like iron and your land like bronze. 20 Your strength will be used up for nothing. Your land will not give its produce, and the tree of the field will not give its fruit. 21 And if you walk with me in rebellion and are unwilling to listen to me, I will add a plague upon you sevenfold according to your sins. 22 I will send the wild beast among you, and it will bereave you, uproot your cattle and make you few, and your roads will lie desolate. 23 And if by these things you are not disciplined toward me, and you walk with me in rebellion, 24 then I too will walk with you in rebellion, and I too will strike you sevenfold for your sins. 25 I will bring upon you a sword that exacts the penalty of the covenant. You will gather inside your cities, and I will send pestilence among you, and you will be handed over into the hand of the enemy. 26 When I break the staff of bread for you, ten women will bake your bread in one oven and give back your bread by weight, and you will eat and not be full. 27 And if despite this you do not listen to me, and you walk with me in rebellion, 28 I will walk with you in furious rebellion, and I too will discipline you sevenfold for your sins. 29 You will eat the flesh of your sons, and the flesh of your daughters you will eat. 30 I will destroy your high places and uproot your sun pillars, and I will throw your corpses on the corpses of your idols, and my soul will loathe you. 31 I will make your cities a ruin and lay your sanctuary waste, and I will not smell the scent of your pleasing [offerings]. 32 I myself will lay the land waste, and their enemies who live in it will be appalled at it. 33 You I will scatter among the nations, and I will draw a sword after you. Your land will become a desolation, and your cities will become a ruin. 34 Then the land will make good its Sabbath years all the days of its desolation, while you are in the land of your enemies; then the land will rest and make good its Sabbath years. 35 All the days of desolation it will keep the rest that it did not keep in your Sabbath years while you lived on it. 36 As for those of you who remain, I will bring faintness into their heart in the lands of their enemies. The sound of a falling leaf will chase them, and they will flee as one flees from a sword, and they will fall with no one pursuing. 37 They will stumble, each over his brother, as if before a sword, though no one pursues, and you will have no power to stand before your enemies. 38 You will perish among the nations, and the land of your enemies will finish you off. 39 Those of you who remain will waste away in their sins in the lands of their enemies, and they will also waste away in the sins of their fathers. 40 They will confess their sins and the sins of their fathers, in the treachery they committed against me, and also that they walked with me in rebellion. 41 I too will walk with them in rebellion and bring them into the land of their enemies. Perhaps then their uncircumcised heart will be humbled, and then they will make amends for their sins. 42 I will remember my covenant with Jacob; my covenant with Isaac too, and my covenant with Abraham as well, I will remember; and the land I will remember. 43 The land will be left behind by them and will make good its Sabbath years while it lies desolate without them, and they will make amends for their sins, for the very reason that they spurned my judgments and their soul loathed my decrees. 44 Yet even so, while they are in the lands of their enemies, I will not spurn them or loathe them so as to destroy them and break my covenant with them, for I am Shema their God. 45 For their sake I will remember the covenant of the first ones, whom I brought out of the land of Egypt before the eyes of the nations, to be God to them. I am Shema. 46 These are the decrees, the judgments and the laws that Shema set between himself and the children of Israel on Mount Sinai by the hand of Moses.
1 Shema spoke with Moses, saying, 2 "Speak with the children of Israel and say to them: When a man sets apart a vow to Shema by your valuation of persons, 3 your valuation of a male from twenty years old up to sixty years old shall be fifty shekels of silver, by the shekel of the sanctuary. 4 If it is a female, your valuation shall be thirty shekels. 5 If [the person is] from five years old up to twenty years old, your valuation of a male shall be twenty shekels, and for a female ten shekels. 6 If from a month old up to five years old, your valuation of a male shall be five shekels of silver, and for a female your valuation shall be three shekels of silver. 7 If from sixty years old and over, if a male, your valuation shall be fifteen shekels, and for the female ten shekels. 8 If he is too poor for your valuation, he shall be stood before the priest, and the priest shall assess him. The priest shall assess him according to what the one who made the vow can afford. 9 If it is an animal from which an offering is brought to Shema, everything that one gives of it to Shema shall be holy. 10 He shall not replace it or exchange it, good for bad or bad for good. If he does exchange one animal for another, both it and the one taken in exchange shall be holy. 11 If it is any unclean animal from which no offering is brought to Shema, he shall stand the animal before the priest, 12 and the priest shall assess it, whether good or bad. As the priest values it, so it shall be. 13 If he does redeem it, he shall add a fifth on top of your valuation. 14 When a man consecrates his house as holy to Shema, the priest shall assess it, whether good or bad. As the priest assesses it, so it shall stand. 15 If the one who consecrated it redeems his house, he shall add a fifth of the silver of your valuation on top of it, and it shall be his. 16 If a man consecrates to Shema part of the field he holds, your valuation shall be in proportion to its seed: the sowing of a kor of barley at fifty shekels of silver. 17 If he consecrates his field from the jubilee year, it shall stand at your valuation. 18 If he consecrates his field after the jubilee, the priest shall count the silver for him according to the years left until the jubilee year, and it shall be deducted from your valuation. 19 If the one who consecrated the field does redeem it, he shall add a fifth of the silver of your valuation on top of it, and it shall stand as his. 20 If he does not redeem the field, and if he has sold the field to another man, it shall not be redeemed again. 21 The field, when it is released in the jubilee, shall be holy to Shema, like a devoted field; its holding shall belong to the priest. 22 If a man consecrates to Shema [part] of a field he bought, which is not part of the field he holds, 23 the priest shall count for him the amount of your valuation up to the jubilee year, and he shall pay the valuation on that day; it is holy to Shema. 24 In the jubilee year the field shall return to the one from whom he bought it, to the one whose holding of the land it is. 25 Every valuation of yours shall be by the shekel of the sanctuary; twenty gerahs make the shekel. 26 But any firstborn among the animals that is born first for Shema, no man shall consecrate it; whether ox or lamb, it belongs to Shema. 27 If it is from the unclean animals, he shall redeem it at your valuation and add its fifth on top of it; and if it is not redeemed, it shall be sold at your valuation. 28 But nothing devoted that a man devotes to Shema of all that is his, of people or animals or of the field he holds, shall be sold or redeemed. Every devoted thing is most holy to Shema. 29 No devoted person who is devoted from among people shall be redeemed; he shall surely be put to death. 30 Every tithe of the land, from the seed of the land and from the fruit of the tree, belongs to Shema; it is holy to Shema. 31 If a man does redeem [some] of his tithe, he shall add its fifth on top of it. 32 Every tithe of ox and flock, everything that passes under the rod, the tenth shall be holy to Shema. 33 He shall not inquire whether it is good or bad, and he shall not exchange it. If he does exchange it, both it and the one taken in exchange shall be holy; it shall not be redeemed." 34 These are the commandments that Shema commanded Moses for the children of Israel on Mount Sinai.
