Genesis 27:11

Hebrew Bible

10 Then you will take it to your father. Thus he will eat it and bless you before he dies.” 11 “But Esau my brother is a hairy man,” Jacob protested to his mother Rebekah, “and I have smooth skin! 12 My father may touch me! Then he’ll think I’m mocking him and I’ll bring a curse on myself instead of a blessing.”

Joshua 12:7

Hebrew Bible

6 Moses the Lord’s servant and the Israelites defeated them, and Moses the Lord’s servant assigned their land to Reuben, Gad, and the half-tribe of Manasseh. 7 These are the kings of the land whom Joshua and the Israelites defeated on the west side of the Jordan, from Baal Gad in the Lebanon Valley to Mount Halak up to Seir. Joshua assigned this territory to the Israelite tribes, 8 including the hill country, the foothills, the rift valley, the slopes, the wilderness, and the Negev—the land of the Hittites, Amorites, Canaanites, Perizzites, Hivites, and Jebusites:

 Notes and References

"... Mount Halak: The Hebrew ḥālaq means “smooth, insinuating” ... The location occurs twice in the Hebrew Bible, both times in Joshua (11:17 and 12:7). The location marks the southernmost point of land in Joshua, situated between Kadesh-barnea and the southern tip of the Dead Sea on the west side of the sea. The Septuagint translates as achel in Josh 11:17 and cheleha in Josh 12:7 ... Mount Seir: The Hebrew sē‘îr means “hairy,” and it signifies Edom. The use of this word for a region identifies all or part of the country of Edom, east of the Jordan River and south of the Dead Sea. It is also described as har-sē‘îr, “Mount Seir,” possibly describing a mountain range. The region of Seir occurs in early poetry as the desert home of Yahweh (Deuteronomy 33:2; Judges 5:4). Some biblical traditions identify Seir as the land of the Horites (Genesis 14:6; 36:20; Deuteronomy 2:12), while most traditions identify it with Edom and the eponymous ancestor Esau (e.g., Genesus 32:3; 33:14, 16; 36:8; Deuteronomy 2:4, 18, 22). The term “Seir” even replaces the word “Edom” in 2 Chronicles (20:10, 23; 25:11; but cf. 25:14) ..."
