The Shepherd of Hermas is a Christian literary work most likely written during the 2nd century B.C.E. The book consists of five visions granted to Hermas, a former slave. This is followed by twelve commandments, and ten parables. It deals with themes of repentance, humility, and forgiveness. It is notable for it's early popularity and was considered scripture by many early Church fathers such as Irenaeus.
