Pesikta d’Rav Kahana (“Sections of Rav Kahana”) is a volume of midrash arranged according to the Torah portions and haftarot read on holidays and special Shabbatot, like the Shabbatot before and after Tisha B’Av. It is one of the earliest midrashim, from the fifth or sixth century in Israel. Though quoted in medieval literature, manuscripts of the text were only discovered and printed in the late 19th century.
