Athenagoras of Athens was an early Christian apologist who lived during the second half of the 2nd century C.E. Plea for the Christians was a carefully written appeal for justice to the Christians made, on philosophical grounds, to the Emperors Marcus Aurelius and his son Commodus. The book is notable as an early attempt use Neoplatonic ideas to interpret Christian belief for Greek and Roman cultures.
