Summary
Date: 100 C.E.
3 Baruch is a visionary text written after the destruction of Jerusalem in 70 C.E. There remains debate if it was written by Jewish or Christian authors or perhaps both. It is similar to 2 Baruch and retells the story of the first fall of Jerusalem in 587 B.C.E. and discusses how Jerusalem can survive without a temple. Similar to 2 Baruch and the New Testament, it argues that there remains a heavenly temple attended by angels.
