The second letter to Timothy is a pastoral epistle that covers encouragement from prison, instruction on preaching, and examples of true and false teachings. Scholars are nearly unanimous that this is not an authentic Pauline letter, but was likely written decades after Paul's death by a Pauline disciple or a sympathetic commentator. Notable is that some scholars also think Second Timothy was written before First Timothy.
