Virgil

Virgil (70–19 B.C.E.), or Publius Vergilius Maro (originally spelled Vergil, but early on, the name was spelled with an i, as seen in an inscription; cf. ILS 2949), was the author of Eclogues, Georgics, and Aeneid (twelve books). Georgics, written at the time of the clash between Octavian (later Augustus) and his brother-in-law Marc Antony, extols the great emperor.
