Dio Chrysostom

c. 40 – c. 115 C.E.

Dio Chrysostom (40/50–after 110 C.E.), or Dio Cocceianus (not to be confused with the church father John Chrysostom), a rhetorician, orator, Stoic philosopher, was the author of numerous speeches, compiled as Discourses. According to his biographer, Synesius, Dio Chrysostom (3.2) makes reference to the Essenes.
