1And the Lord called Moses and spoke to him from the tent of testimony, saying, 2 “Speak to the sons of Israel and say to them: ‘If any person from among you presents a gift for the Lord, then you will present your gift from the livestock and from the ox and from the sheep 3 ‘If his gift is a whole burnt offering from among the oxen, he will offer an unblemished male. He will bring it to the gate of the tent of testimony as an acceptable offering to him before the Lord 4 And he will place his hand on the head of the approved burnt offering for himself in order to make atonement for him 5 And they will slay the young bull in the presence of the Lord and the sons of Aaron, the priests. They will present its blood, and they will pour its blood out all around and against the altar that is beside the entrances of the tent of testimony[1] 6 And when they have flayed the whole burnt offering, they will cut it into pieces according to its limbs 7 And the sons of Aaron, the priests, will place fire on the altar and pile wood on the fire 8 And the sons of Aaron, the priests, will pile up the divided parts of the sacrifice and its head and its fat on top of the wood that is on the fire, which is on top of the altar 9 And they will wash its internal organs and its feet with water. And the priests will place everything on the altar. It is a burnt offering, a sacrifice, a sweet-smelling odor to the Lord 10 ‘And if his gift to the Lord is from the sheep or from the lambs or the young kids, he will present an unblemished male for a whole burnt offering. And he will place his hand on its head 11 And they shall slay it on the sides of the altar facing the north, in the presence of the Lord. And the sons of Aaron, the priests, will pour out its blood against the altar all around 12 And they will divide it according to its limbs and its head and the fat. And the priests will pile them up on the wood that is on the fire, which is on the altar 13 And they will wash its entrails and its feet with water, and the priest will present everything and will place it on the altar. It is a burnt offering, a sacrifice, a sweet-smelling odor to the Lord 14 ‘If you present a burnt offering from the birds as a gift to the Lord, then he will bring his gift from the turtledoves or from the pigeons 15 And the priest will bring it to the altar and wring off its head. And the priest will place it on the altar and squeeze out its blood onto the base of the altar[2] 16 And he will remove the crop together with its feathers and cast it away along the side of the altar toward the east, onto the place for the ashes 17 And he will break it off from the wings but not divide it, and the priest will place it on the altar, on the wood that is on the fire. It is a burnt offering, a sacrifice, a sweet-smelling odor to the Lord’
2‘And when a person presents a gift as a sacrifice to the Lord, his gift will be fine wheat flour, and he will pour olive oil on it, and he will place frankincense on it; it is a sacrifice 2 And then he will take it to the sons of Aaron, the priests, and when the priest has taken a handful from it, full of the fine wheat flour together with olive oil, and all of its frankincense, then the priest will place its memorial portion on the altar, a sacrifice, a sweet-smelling odor unto the Lord 3 The remaining share of the sacrifice belongs to Aaron and his sons; a holy of holies from the offerings of the Lord 4 ‘And if someone presents a grain offering as a sacrifice baked from frankincense, a gift to the Lord made from fine wheat flour, he shall bring unleavened cakes kneaded with olive oil and unleavened thin broad cakes, basted all over with olive oil 5 And when your gift is a sacrifice from a baking tray, it is fine wheat flour kneaded with olive oil, unleavened 6 And you shall break it into pieces and pour olive oil on it; it is a sacrifice to the Lord 7 And if it is a sacrifice from a hearth, your gift shall be prepared with olive oil 8 And then he will bring his sacrifice, which he has prepared from these various offerings to the Lord, and he will bring it to the priest. And when he has approached the altar, 9 the priest will take some of the offering as its memorial portion. And the priest will place it on the altar, a burnt offering, a sweet-smelling odor to the Lord 10 And what is left over from the sacrifice is for Aaron and his sons, a holy of holies from the burnt offerings of the Lord 11 You will not make any sacrifice that you present to the Lord with leaven, for you will not offer any leaven or any honey from it as a burnt sacrifice to the Lord 12 You will offer them to the Lord as a gift of firstfruits, but they will not be presented on the altar as a sweet-smelling odor to the Lord 13 Every sacrifice gift of yours will be flavored with salt; you will not keep back the salt of the Lord’s covenant from your gifts. You will present salt to the Lord your God on each of your offerings 14 ‘And if you present a sacrifice of firstfruits to the Lord, tender, newly roasted grain, hulled kernels ground for the Lord, so you will offer the sacrifice of the firstfruits 15 And you will pour olive oil over it, and you will place frankincense on it; it is a sacrifice 16 And the priest will offer its memorial portion taken from the hulled ground kernels together with its olive oil and all its frankincense; it is a burnt offering to the Lord’
3‘If his gift is a sacrifice of peace to the Lord, if he brings it forward from his oxen, whether male or female, he shall bring an unblemished animal before the Lord 2 Then he will place his hands on the head of the gift and slaughter it before the Lord beside the entrances of the tent of testimony. Then the sons of Aaron, the priests, will pour out its blood all around and against the altar of the whole burnt offerings 3 And they will bring a burnt offering to the Lord from the sacrifice of peace, the fat that is covering the belly—indeed, all the fat that is over the belly 4 And he will remove the two kidneys along with the fat that is attached to them, that is at the loins, and the lobe that is on the liver, together with the kidneys 5 And so the sons of Aaron, the priests, will present these items on the altar on the whole burnt offerings, on the wood that is on the fire on the altar; it is a burnt offering, a sweet-smelling odor to the Lord 6 ‘If his gift is from the sheep, male or female, he shall bring it without blemish as a sacrifice of peace to the Lord 7 If he presents a lamb as his gift, he will present it before the Lord 8 Then he will place his hands on the head of his gift and will slaughter it beside the entrances of the tent of testimony. Then the sons of Aaron, the priests, will pour its blood out on the altar all around 9 And he will bring a burnt offering to God from the sacrifice of peace, the fat and the loins without blemish. He will remove it along with the muscles of the loins and the fat of the belly 10 And both of the kidneys, and the fat that is on them on the thighs, and the lobe that is on the liver with the kidneys, when he has stripped these off, 11 the priest will offer them up on the altar as a sweet-smelling odor, a burnt offering to the Lord[3] 12 ‘But if his gift is from the goats, then he will present it before the Lord 13 And he will place his hands on its head, and they shall slaughter it in the presence of the Lord at the entrances of the tent of testimony, and the sons of Aaron, the priests, will pour the blood out on the altar all around 14 And he will offer up from it a burnt offering to the Lord, the fat covering up the belly and all the fat that is attached to the belly 15 And he will remove both of the kidneys and all the fat that is on them, that is on the loins, and the lobe of the liver together with the kidneys 16 And the priest will offer a burnt offering on the altar as a sweet-smelling odor to the Lord; all the fat goes to the Lord 17 This is a law for eternity throughout your generations and in all your dwelling places; you will not eat any fat or any blood’
4And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying, 2 “Speak to the sons of Israel, saying, ‘When a person sins before the Lord unintentionally with respect to the ordinances of the Lord, that is not binding to do, but does one of them 3 if the anointed high priest sins so that the people sins, and for his sin that he has committed he will present an unblemished young bull from among the bulls to the Lord about his sin 4 And he will present the young bull at the entrance of the tent of testimony before the Lord and place his hand on the head of the young bull in the presence of the Lord and slaughter the young bull before the Lord 5 And after taking some of the blood of the young bull, the anointed priest, whose hands have been ratified, will carry it on the tent of testimony 6 And the priest will dip his finger in the blood and sprinkle some of the blood seven times down along the holy veil before the Lord 7 And the priest will place some of the blood of the young bull on the horns of the altar for the incense of composition, the altar before the Lord that is located inside the tent of testimony. And he will pour out all the young bull’s blood at the base of the altar for whole burnt offerings, which is located at the entrance of the tent of testimony 8 And he will remove all the fat of the young bull from it for the sin offering, the fat that covers the entrails and all the fat that is on the entrails 9 And the two kidneys and the fat that is attached to them and that is located on the loins, and the lobe that is on the liver, together with the kidneys, he will remove it all 10 the way you remove it from the young bull, the sacrifice of peace offering. The priest shall offer it up on the burnt offering altar 11 Also the skin of the young bull and all its flesh together with the head and the extremities and the belly and the dung, 12 and they will carry the whole young bull outside the encampment to a clean place, where they will pour out the ashes and will burn it on wood with fire; it will be burned up at the outflow of the ashes[4] 13 ‘And if the entire community of Israel is unintentionally ignorant, and the matter escapes the eyes of the congregation, and they do one of all of the commandments of the Lord that shall not be done and they go astray, 14 and the sin, which they sinned by it, becomes known to them, then for their sin the community will lead in an unblemished young bull from the herd and lead it forward up to the entrances of the tent of testimony 15 And the elders of the congregation will place their hands on the head of the young bull before the Lord, and they shall slaughter the young bull in the presence of the Lord 16 And the anointed priest will carry some of the blood of the young bull into the tent of testimony 17 And the priest will dip his finger into the blood of the young bull and sprinkle it seven times before the Lord in front of the veil of the holy place 18 And the priest will place some of the blood on the horns of the altar of the incense of the composition, which is before the Lord, which is inside the tent of testimony. Then he will pour out all of the blood at the base of the altar of burnt offerings that are at the entrance of the tent of testimony 19 And he will remove all the fat from it and will offer it up on the altar 20 And he will do to the young bull the way he did to the sin offering bull, so it will be done, and the priest will make atonement for them, and the sin will be forgiven for them 21 And they will carry the young bull outside of the encampment, and they will burn the young bull the way they burned the first young bull; it is a sin offering of the assembly 22 ‘And if a ruler sins and unintentionally does one of all of the commandments of the Lord their God that shall not be done, and sins and commits a trespass, 23 and his sin, which he has sinned by it, becomes known to him, and he will bring his gift, a young he-goat from the goats, an unblemished male 24 And he will place his hand on the head of the he-goat, and they shall slaughter it in the location where they slaughter the whole burnt offerings before the Lord; it is a sin offering 25 Then the priest will put some of the blood of the sin offering on his finger on the horns of the altar for whole burnt offerings, and he will pour all of its blood out at the base of the altar for burnt offerings 26 And he will offer up all its fat on the altar, just as with the fat of the sacrifice of peace offering; and the priest will make atonement for him from his sin, and it will be forgiven for him 27 ‘And if one person from the people of the land sins unintentionally by doing one of all the commandments of the Lord which shall not be done and commits a trespass, 28 and his sin, which he has sinned by it, becomes known to him, then he will bring a she-goat from the goats; he will bring an unblemished female for his sin, which he has sinned 29 And he will place his hand on the head of his sin offering, and they shall slaughter the she-goat for sin in the place where they slaughter the whole burnt offerings 30 And the priest will take some of its blood on his finger and will put it on the horns of the altar for the burnt offerings; then he will pour all of its blood out at the base of the altar 31 And he will remove all the fat the way he removes the fat from a sacrifice of peace, and the priest will offer it up on the altar as a sweet-smelling odor to the Lord, and the priest will make atonement for him, and it will be forgiven him 32 ‘But if he presents a sheep as his gift for a sin offering, he will bring it as an unblemished female 33 And he will place his hand on the head of the sin offering, and they shall slaughter it in a place where they slaughter the whole burnt offerings 34 And the priest, taking some of the blood of the sin offering on his finger, will put it on the horns of the altar for whole burnt offering, and he will pour out all of the blood at the base of the altar for the whole burnt offering 35 And he will remove all its fat the way the fat of the sheep is removed from the sacrifice of peace, and the priest will place it on the altar on the whole burnt offering of the Lord, and the priest will make atonement for him about the sin that he committed, and it will be forgiven for him
5‘And if someone sins and hears the sound of an oath, and this witness either has seen or is aware of it, if he does not speak out, he will incur guilt 2 Or a person, whoever touches any unclean thing, either a carcass of an animal or something killed by an unclean wild beast or the carcasses of dead animals or unclean things that are abominable or carcasses of unclean livestock, 3 or someone touches something unclean to humans, of any kind of human uncleanness, which he becomes polluted from touching it, and yet he is not aware of it, but after this he becomes aware of it, and he has committed a trespass 4 Or a lawless person who with his lips orders to do ill or to do good, corresponding to anything the person orders with an oath, and it escapes him before his eyes, and this person knows and sins concerning any one of these matters— 5 and he will openly declare his sin concerning whatever he has sinned throughout that sin 6 And for what he trespassed against the Lord, for the sin which he sinned, he will bring a female from the sheep, a lamb or a she-goat from the goats for his sin offering, and the priest will make atonement for him concerning his sin that he committed, and the sin will be forgiven for him 7 But if his hand is not strong enough for a sheep, he will bring two turtledoves or two young pigeons to the Lord concerning his sin that he sinned, one for his sin offering and one for a whole burnt offering 8 And he will bring them to the priest, and the priest will bring them forward for the sin offering. And the priest will wring off its head from its neck, but will not divide its body 9 And he will sprinkle some of the blood for the sin offering on the side of the altar, and he will squeeze out the remaining blood onto the base of the altar, for it is a sin offering 10 And he will treat the second as a whole burnt offering, as is prescribed, and the priest will make atonement for his sin that he committed, and it will be forgiven for him 11 But if his hand does not find a pair of turtledoves or two pigeon nestlings, then he will bring as his gift, regarding whatever he committed, a tenth of an ephah of fine wheat flour for a sin offering; he will not pour olive oil on it, nor will he place frankincense on it, because it is for a sin offering 12 And he will bring it to the priest. And the priest, having taken a handful from it, will place a memorial on the altar for the burnt offerings; it is a sin offering to the Lord 13 And the priest will make atonement for him concerning his sin that he sinned against one of these, and it will be forgiven for him. And the portion left over will be for the priest, a sacrifice of fine wheat flour’ 14 And then the Lord spoke to Moses, saying, 15 ‘A person, when it escapes him by forgetfulness, and he sins inadvertently from the holy things of the Lord, and he will bring his offering to the Lord, an unblemished ram from among the sheep; its monetary value (by the shekel of the sanctuary) by which he trespassed 16 And what he sinned against from the holy things, he shall repay it, and he will add a fifth more to it, and he will give it to the priest. And the priest will make atonement for him with the ram of the trespass, and it will be forgiven for him 17 And the person who sins and does one of any of the commandments of the Lord that it is not binding to do, and he does not know, and he trespassed and takes the sin, 18 and he will bring an unblemished ram from the sheep of the value of silver, for a trespass to the priest. And the priest will make atonement for him for his ignorance, which he was unaware of, and he himself did not know; and it will be forgiven for him 19 For he has trespassed a trespass before the Lord”
6And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying, 2 “Whenever a person sins and with disregard overlooks the commandments of the Lord, and lies in matters concerning his neighbor with a deposit or about communion or plunder, or he deals unjustly regarding something with his neighbor, 3 or finds something lost and lies about it, and swears unrighteously about any one of all the things a person may do, so as to sin in these things; 4 and it will be whenever someone sins and trespasses, and he will return the plunder that he plundered, or his ill-gotten thing that he acquired unjustly, or the deposit that was deposited with him, or the lost item that he found, 5 of anything that he swore falsely about, and he will repay the sum total, and he will add a fifth to it; whosever it is, he will repay him on the day he is refuted 6 And for his trespass, he will bring a ram to the Lord from the flock, unblemished, of value, for what he trespassed against him 7 And the priest will make atonement for him in the presence of the Lord, and it will be forgiven for him for one of all the things that he did and trespassed against him” 8 And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying, 9 “Charge Aaron and his sons, saying, ‘This is the law of the whole burnt offering, that is the whole burnt offering on its burning on the altar during the entire night until morning, and the fire of the altar will burn on it; it will not be extinguished 10 And the priest will wear a linen tunic, and he will wear linen undergarments around his body, and he will remove the ashes of the burnt sacrifice which the fire has consumed (the whole burnt offering) from the altar and will place them next to the altar 11 And he will take off his garment and will put on a different garment, and he will carry the ashes of the burnt sacrifice to a clean place outside the encampment 12 And the fire on the altar will be lit from it, and it will not be extinguished. And the priest will burn wood on it in the morning and will arrange the burnt offering on it, and he will place the fat of the peace offering on it 13 And the fire will burn on the altar forever; it will not be extinguished’” 14 “This is the law of the sacrifice, which the sons of Aaron will bring before the Lord, before the altar; 15 and he will remove some of it with his hand from the fine wheat flour of the sacrifice along with its olive oil and along with its frankincense, which are on the sacrifice; and he will offer a burnt offering on the altar, a sweet-smelling odor, its memorial to the Lord 16 And Aaron and his sons will eat whatever is left over from it. It will be eaten unleavened in a holy place; they will eat it in the court of the tent of testimony 17 It will not be baked with leaven. I have granted a portion of it to them from the burnt offerings of the Lord, a holy of holies, just like the sin offering and just like the trespass offering 18 Every male of the priests will eat it. It is an eternal law throughout your generations from the burnt offerings of the Lord; anyone who touches them will be holy’” 19 And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying, 20 “This is the gift of Aaron and his sons, which they will present to the Lord on the day you anoint him: the tenth of an ephah of fine wheat flour for sacrifice always, half of it early in the morning and half of it during the evening 21 It will be prepared on a baking tray with olive oil; he will bring it kneaded and rolled, a sacrifice of pieces, a sacrifice, a sweet-smelling odor to the Lord 22 The priest, the one of his sons anointed in his place, will present it. An eternal law: The entirety will be consumed 23 And every sacrifice by a priest will be wholly burnt, and it will not be eaten” 24 And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying, 25 “Speak to Aaron and to his sons, saying, ‘This is the law of the sin offering: In a place where they slaughter the whole burnt offering, they shall slaughter the animals for the sin offering before the Lord; they are holy of holies 26 The priest who offers it will eat it; it will be eaten in a holy place, in the court of the tent of testimony 27 Everyone who touches its flesh will become holy, and whoever is sprinkled on his garment from its blood, whoever was sprinkled from it, will be washed in a sacred place 28 And the earthen vessel in which it was boiled will be broken; and if it was boiled in a brass instrument, he shall rub it out and wash it thoroughly with water 29 Every male of the priests will eat them; they are holy of holies to the Lord 30 And everything that is concerning the sin offering, whatever was brought from any of their blood into the tent of testimony to make atonement in the sanctuary, will not be eaten; it will be burned to ashes in the fire’” 31 “And this is the law of the ram concerning the trespass offering; it is holy of holies 32 In the place where they slaughter the whole burnt offering, they will slaughter the ram of the trespass in the presence of the Lord, and he will pour out the blood on the base of the altar all around 33 He will offer all its fat from it, and the loins, and all the fat that covers up the entrails, and all the fat that is on the entrails, 34 and the two kidneys and the fat that is on them; what is on the thighs and the lobe on the liver along with the kidneys, he will remove them 35 And the priest will offer them on the altar as a burnt offering for the Lord; it is a trespass offering 36 Every male of the priests will eat them; they will eat them in a holy place, they are holy of holies 37 Just like what concerns the sin offering, so is the one of trespass. One law of them: the priest, whoever makes atonement, it shall be his 38 The priest who offers a whole burnt offering for a person, the skin of the sacrifice of a burnt offering that he himself offers shall be his 39 And every offering that will be made in the oven and every one that will be made on a hearth or on a griddle, the priest who offers it, it is his 40 And every offering mixed with olive oil or unmixed, shall belong to all the sons of Aaron, to each one equally’”
7“‘This is the ritual for the offering of peace, which they will offer up to the Lord. 2 If he offers it for praise, then with the praise offering you shall offer up loaves from fine wheat flour prepared with olive oil, unleavened wafers smeared with olive oil, and fine wheat flour mixed with olive oil. 3 In addition to the leavened loaves, he shall offer his gifts in addition to the peace offering of thanksgiving. 4 And he will bring one of all of his gifts, a tribute for the Lord. To the priest who pours out the blood of the peace offering, it will be his. 5 And the meat of an offering of peace for praise, it will be his, and it shall be eaten on the day it is presented; they shall not leave any of it until the morning. 6 But if he offers a vow or a freewill offering as his gift, whatever day he presents his offering, it must be eaten on the next day. 7 And whatever remains of the flesh of the sacrifice on the third day shall be burned up in fire. 8 But if he, eating, eats some of the meat on the third day, it shall not be acceptable for the one who himself offers it. It will not count for him; it is pollution. But whichever person eats some of it will take his sin. 9 And whatever meat touches any impure thing shall not be eaten; it shall be burned up by fire. Any clean person can eat the remaining meat. 10 And whichever person eats some of the meat of the sacrifice of peace, which is for the Lord, and his uncleanness is on him, that person will be destroyed from his people. 11 And any person who touches any impure thing, whether from the impurity of a human or any impure fourfooted animal or any impure abomination, and eats some of the meat of the offering of peace, which is for the Lord, that person will be destroyed from his people.’ ” Fat and Blood Not to Be Eaten 12 And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying, 13 “Speak to the sons of Israel: ‘You shall not eat any fat of oxen or of sheep or of goats. 14 And the fat of a dead animal or of an animal killed by wild beasts may be used for any work, but it will not be eaten for food. 15 Anyone who eats fat from the livestock, from which he will offer from them a burnt offering of the Lord, that person will be wiped out from his people. 16 You shall not eat any blood in any land of your settlements, whether from birds or from livestock. 17 Every person who eats blood, that person will be destroyed from his people.’ ” The Portion for the Priests 18 And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying, 19 “You will speak to the sons of Israel, saying, ‘The one who is presenting a sacrifice of peace to the Lord will bring his gift to the Lord and from the sacrifice of peace offerings. 20 His hands will present the burnt offerings to the Lord. The fat that is on the breast and the lobe of the liver, he will bring them in order to present them as a gift before the Lord. 21 And the priest will offer up the fat on the altar, but the breast shall be for Aaron, and it shall be for his sons. 22 And you will provide the right shoulder to the priest, choice portions from among the sacrifices of your peace offerings. 23 The one of the sons of Aaron who presents the blood of the peace offering and the fat, the right shoulder will be his share. 24 For I have taken the breast of the wave offering and the shoulder of the separated offering from the sons of Israel, from the sacrifices of your peace offering, and I have given them to Aaron the priest and to his sons, a perpetual law from the sons of Israel.’ ” 25 This is the anointing of Aaron and the anointing of his sons from the burnt offerings of the Lord on the day he brought them to serve as priests to the Lord; 26 just as the Lord commanded them to give that day, he anointed them from the sons of Israel, an eternal law throughout their generations. 27 This is the instruction for the burnt offerings and for sacrifice and for the sin offering and for the trespass offering and for the ordination of the priests and for the sacrifice of the peace offering, 28 the way the Lord commanded Moses on the mountain of Sinai that day he charged the sons of Israel to bring their gifts before the Lord in the wilderness of Sinai.
8And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying, 2 ‘Take Aaron and his sons and his garments and the oil for anointing and the young bull with respect to the sin offering and the two rams and the basket of unleavened bread, 3 and convene the entire congregation at the entrance of the tent of testimony.’ 4 And Moses did the way the Lord had charged him and summoned the congregation at the entrance of the tent of testimony 5 And Moses said to the congregation, “This is the matter; this is what the Lord charged us to do.” 6 And Moses brought Aaron and his sons and cleansed them with water 7 And he clothed him with a tunic and girded him with a sash and clothed him with an undergarment and placed the shoulder piece on him and put a girdle on him, made according to the fabrication and workmanship of the shoulder piece, and he fastened him in it 8 And he placed on him the oracle and placed in the oracle the Unveiling and the Truth 9 And he placed the headband on his head and attached to the headband, on the front of it, a thin plate of gold, consecrated and holy, the way the Lord had charged Moses 10 And Moses took some of the olive oil for anointing,[5] 11 and he sprinkled it on the altar seven times, and he anointed the altar and consecrated it and all of its various implements, and the basin and its base. And he consecrated them; and he anointed the tabernacle and all the items in it, and he consecrated it 12 And Moses poured some of the oil for anointing on the head of Aaron and anointed him and consecrated him 13 And Moses brought forward the sons of Aaron and clothed them with tunics and girded them with sashes, and he placed turbans around them, just like the Lord charged Moses 14 And Moses brought forward the young bull for the sin offering, and Aaron and his sons placed their hands on the head of the young bull for the sin offering 15 And he slaughtered it, and Moses took some of the blood and placed it on the horns of the altar, all around, with his finger, and he cleansed the altar. And he poured the blood on the base of the altar, and he consecrated it for making atonement on it 16 And Moses took all the fat on the entrails and lobe from the liver and both of the kidneys and the fat on them, and Moses offered them up on the altar 17 And the young bull and its skin and its flesh and its excrement, he burned them with fire outside the encampment the way the Lord charged Moses 18 And Moses brought forward the ram for a whole burnt offering. And Aaron and his sons placed their hands on the head of the ram 19 Then Moses slaughtered the ram, and Moses poured its blood on the altar all around 20 And he divided up the ram by its limbs, and Moses offered up its head and its limbs and its fat 21 And he washed the belly and its feet with water, and Moses offered the whole ram on the altar, a whole burnt offering, which is for a sweet-smelling odor; it is a burnt offering to the Lord, just as the Lord charged Moses 22 And Moses brought the second ram, a ram for ordination. And Aaron and his sons placed their hands on the head of the ram 23 And he slaughtered the ram, and Moses took some of its blood and put it on the lobe of Aaron’s right ear and on the thumb of his right hand and on the great toe of his right foot 24 And Moses brought the sons of Aaron, and Moses placed some of the blood on the lobes of their right ears and on the thumbs of their right hands and on the great toes of their right feet. And Moses poured its blood on the altar all around 25 And he took the fat and the loins and the fat on the belly, and the lobe of the liver and the two kidneys and the fat on them, and the right shoulder 26 And he took one loaf without leaven from the basket of the ordination, which is before the Lord, and one loaf with olive oil and a thin broad cake and placed it on the fat and placed it on the right shoulder 27 And he placed them all together on the hands of Aaron and on the hands of his sons and offered them as choice designated offerings before the Lord 28 And Moses took them from their hands, and Moses offered them up on the altar, on the whole burnt offering for the ordination, which is a sweet-smelling odor; it is a burnt offering to the Lord 29 Then Moses, after taking the breast, took it away as a raised offering before the Lord, from the ram for the ordination. And it belonged to Moses as his share, just as the Lord charged Moses 30 And Moses took some of the anointing oil and some of the blood on the altar and sprinkled them on Aaron and his garments and his sons and the garments of his sons along with him 31 And Moses spoke to Aaron and his sons: “Boil the flesh within the court of the tent of testimony in a holy place, and there you will eat it and the loaves in the basket for the ordination, the way it was prescribed to me, saying, ‘Aaron and his sons will eat these things.’ 32 And that which is left over of the meat and of the bread shall be burned up by fire 33 And you shall not go out of the entrance of the tent of testimony for seven days, until the time of your fulfillment is fulfilled, for he will complete your ordination in seven days, 34 just as he did on this day on which the Lord commanded to do, in order to make atonement for you 35 And you will remain at the entrance of the tent of testimony for seven days, day and night. You shall carefully keep the obligations of the Lord, so that you do not die, for so the Lord God commanded me” 36 And Aaron and his sons did all the words that the Lord commanded Moses
9And it happened on the eighth day, Moses summoned Aaron and his sons and the council of elders of Israel 2 And Moses said to Aaron, “Take yourself a tender little calf from the herd for a sin offering, and a ram without blemish for a whole burnt offering, and bring them into the presence of the Lord 3 And speak to the council of elders of Israel, saying, ‘Take one young he-goat from the goats for a sin offering and a little calf and a lamb, each a year old, for presentation as a whole burnt offering, without blemish, 4 and a young bull and a ram for a sacrifice of peace before the Lord, and take fine wheat flour kneaded with olive oil, because the Lord will appear among you today.’” 5 And they took them to the front of the tent of testimony as Moses had commanded. And the entire congregation approached, and they stood in the presence of the Lord 6 And Moses said, “This is the word that the Lord spoke: ‘Do this and the glory of the Lord will appear among you.’” 7 And Moses said to Aaron, “Approach the altar and make your sin offering and your whole burnt offering and make atonement for yourself and your household, and present the gifts of the people and make atonement for them,” just as the Lord charged Moses 8 And Aaron approached the altar and slaughtered the little calf for his sin offering 9 And the sons of Aaron brought the blood to him, and he dipped his finger into the blood and placed it on the horns of the altar. And he poured the blood out on the base of the altar 10 And the fat and the kidneys and the lobe of the liver with respect to the sin offering, he offered them up on the altar, the way the Lord charged Moses 11 Then he burned the flesh and the skin by fire outside the encampment 12 And he slaughtered the whole burnt offering. And the sons of Aaron also brought the blood to him, and he poured it on the altar all around 13 And the whole burnt offering, they brought it out by its pieces, them and the head, and placed them on the altar 14 And he washed the belly and the feet with water and placed them on the whole burnt offering on the altar 15 And he brought the offering of the people and took the young he-goat as the sin offering for the people. And he slaughtered it just like the first one, too 16 And he brought the whole burnt offering and offered it as is proper 17 And he brought the sacrifice and filled his hands with some of it and placed that on the altar, separate from the early morning whole burnt offering 18 And he slaughtered the young bull and the ram, the offering of peace for the people. And the sons of Aaron brought the blood to him, and he poured it toward the altar all around; 19 and he took the fat from the young bull and from the ram, the loins, and the fat on the belly and the two kidneys, and the fat on them, and the lobe on the liver 20 And he placed the fat parts on the breast and sent up the fat parts on the altar 21 And Aaron took away the breast and the right shoulder as a choice sacrifice in the presence of the Lord, the way the Lord commanded Moses 22 And when Aaron had lifted up his hands over the people, he blessed them, and he came down after performing the sin offering and the whole burnt offerings and the offerings of peace 23 And Moses and Aaron entered the tent of testimony, and after they had come out, they blessed all the people, and the glory of the Lord appeared there to all the people 24 And fire from the Lord came out and consumed the things on the altar, both the whole burnt offerings and the fat parts. And all the people saw and were astonished, and they fell forward on their faces
10And the two sons of Aaron, Nadab and Abihu, each one taking up his censer, placed fire on it and added incense to it. And they presented unauthorized fire before the Lord, which the Lord had not designated for them 2 And fire came forth from the Lord and consumed them, and they died before the Lord 3 And Moses said to Aaron, “This is what the Lord said, saying, ‘When anyone approaches me, I will be reverenced as holy, and among all the congregation I will be honored.’” And Aaron was severely pained 4 And Moses summoned Mishael and Elzaphan, sons of Uzziel, sons of the brother of the father of Aaron, and spoke to them: “Come forward and take away your brothers outside the encampment, away from the holy things.” 5 And they came forward. And they were carried outside the encampment by their garments, the way Moses had said 6 And Moses spoke to Aaron and Eleazar and Ithamar, his sons who remained alive, “Do not remove the turban from your head and do not tear your garments, so that you do not die and there be wrath on the entire congregation. Your brothers, all the household of Israel, will weep because of the burning, which they were burned by the Lord 7 And you shall not go out of the entrance of the tent of testimony, so that you do not die, for the oil of anointing, that which is from the Lord, is on you.” And they did according to the instruction of Moses 8 And then the Lord spoke to Aaron, saying, 9 “Do not drink wine and strong drink, you and your sons with you, when you enter into the tent of testimony or when you advance toward the altar, and you will certainly not die. This is a perpetual law throughout your generations:[6] 10 to discern between the holy and unholy, and between the unclean and clean 11 And you will instruct the sons of Israel concerning all the laws that the Lord spoke to them through the hand of Moses.” 12 And Moses said to Aaron and to Eleazar and Ithamar, the sons of Aaron who remained, “Take the sacrifice left over from the burnt offerings for the Lord and eat them with unleavened bread beside the altar; it is holy of holies 13 And you will eat it in a holy place; indeed, it is an eternal law for you. And this is a law to your sons from the burnt offerings for the Lord, for so it has been charged to me 14 But you will eat the breast of the portion separated out and the shoulder of the raised offering in a holy place, you and your sons and your household along with you, for it was given as a law to you and as a law to your sons from the sacrifices of peace of the sons of Israel 15 They will bring the shoulder of the raised offering and the breast of the portion separated out on the burnt offerings of the fat as a separate offering to set aside before the Lord, and it will be a perpetual law to you and to your sons and to your daughters along with you,” the way the Lord charged Moses 16 And the young he-goat, the one Moses diligently sought as the sin offering, it also had been burned up! And Moses was angry toward Eleazar and Ithamar, the sons of Aaron, who remained alive, saying, 17 “Why did you not eat what is for sin in a holy place? Because, indeed, it is holy of holies, this which he gave you to eat, in order that you may remove the guilt of the congregation and make atonement for them before the Lord 18 For its blood was not brought into the sanctuary. You will eat it face-to-face inside, in a holy place, the way the Lord commanded me.” 19 But Aaron responded to Moses, saying, “If they have brought offerings for their sin and their whole burnt offerings before the Lord today, and these things have happened to me, and I had eaten of those offerings for sin today, it would have not been pleasing to the Lord!” 20 And Moses heard, and it satisfied him
11And the Lord spoke to Moses and Aaron, saying 2 “Instruct the sons of Israel, saying, ‘These are the livestock that you will eat from the livestock that live on the land 3 Every animal that divides its hoof, and its hoof is divided in two cloven hoofs, and brings up its cud, these you shall eat among the animals 4 But of these you shall not eat of those that bring up the cud and from those that divide their hoofs and separate their hoofs: the camel, for it brings up its cud but does not divide the hoof—this is unclean to you 5 and the hare, for this one brings up its cud and it does not divide its hoof—this is unclean to you 6 and the coney, because this one brings up its cud and it does not divide its hoof—this is unclean to you 7 and the pig, because this one divides its hoof and does divide its claws at the hoof, and this one does bring not up a cud—this is unclean to you 8 You shall not eat their flesh, and you shall not touch their carcasses; these animals are unclean to you 9 ‘And these are what you will eat of all those in the waters: All that have fins and scales on them, in the waters and in the seas and in the streams—these you will eat 10 And all that do not have fins or scales on them, in the water or in the seas or in the streams, from all of the things the water teems with and of any kind of living being that is in the water—it is an abomination 11 And they will be an abomination for you; you shall not eat from their flesh, and you will consider their carcasses an abomination 12 And whatever does not have fins and scales on them, of those things in the water, this is an abomination to you 13 ‘And these are the animals that you will consider an abomination from the birds, and they will not be eaten; they are an abomination: the eagle and the griffin and the sea-eagle 14 and the vulture and the kite and the birds resembling it 15 and the sparrow and the owl and the seagull and the birds resembling it[7] 16 and the hawk and the birds resembling it 17 and the horned owl and cormorant and the ibis[8] 18 and the water-hen and pelican and the swan 19 and the little owl and the heron and plover and the birds resembling it; and the hoopoe and the bat[9] 20 ‘And all of the winged creatures that creep, that go on four feet, they are an abomination to you 21 But you may eat of these: of the creeping winged creatures that move on four feet, which have legs up from its feet to hop by along the ground 22 And of them you may eat these: the locust and its like; and the bald locust and its like; and the swarming locust and its like; and the snake fighter and its like 23 Every creeping thing of the winged creatures that is four footed is an abomination to you 24 ‘And you will be polluted by these things; anyone who touches their carcasses is unclean until evening 25 And anyone who picks up their carcasses will wash their garments and will be unclean until evening 26 And among all the livestock, that which is dividing the hoof and pares the paws but does not chew the cud, they will be unclean to you. Anyone who touches their carcasses will be unclean until evening 27 And every animal that moves along by its front feet among all the wild animals that move on four feet, it will be unclean to you. Every person that touches their carcasses will be unclean until evening 28 And the one who picks up their carcasses will wash his garments and will be unclean until evening; these animals are unclean to you 29 ‘And of the creeping things that are on the earth, these are unclean to you: the weasel and the mouse and the lizard that goes on dry land 30 and the field mouse and the chameleon and the gecko and the lizard and the mole 31 Of all the creeping things that are on the earth, these are unclean to you. Everyone who touches their dead bodies will be unclean until evening 32 And when they are dead, anything on which something from them falls will be unclean, from any wood vessel or garment or skin vessel or of sackcloth. Any vessel, no matter what work is done with it, will be dipped into water and will be unclean until evening, and then it will be clean 33 And any clay vessel into which any of these animals falls, whatever is inside will be unclean, and it will be broken 34 And any food that is consumed, into which water comes on it, will be unclean, and any drink that is drunk in any vessel will be unclean 35 And anything that falls on it from their carcasses will be unclean; ovens or jar stands will be destroyed. These things are unclean, and these things will be unclean to you 36 Only if it is running water or a cistern or confluence of water will it be clean, but the one who touches their carcasses will be unclean 37 Now if any seed for sowing falls on their carcasses that is then sown, it will be clean 38 And if water is poured on any seed and any of their carcasses should fall on it, it is unclean to you 39 And if one of the livestock that is for you to eat dies, the person who touches their carcasses will be unclean until evening 40 And the person who eats from these carcasses will wash their garments and will be unclean until evening, and any person who picks up any of their carcasses will wash their garments and will bathe with water and will be unclean until evening[10] 41 And every creeping animal that creeps along the earth, this will be an abomination to you; it will not be eaten 42 And every animal that moves on the belly, and every animal that always moves on four feet, which has many feet among all the creeping animals that creep on the earth, you will not eat it, because it is an abomination to you 43 And you shall not defile your lives with any of the creeping animals that creep on the earth, and you will not be polluted by these things, and you will not be unclean by them 44 Because I am the Lord your God, and you will be sanctified, and you will be holy, for I myself, the Lord your God, am holy. And you will not defile your souls with any of the creeping animals that move along the ground 45 For I myself am the Lord, the God who led you up from the land of Egypt to be yours; and you will be holy, for I myself, the Lord, am holy 46 This is the law about the livestock and the winged creatures and every living thing that moves in the water and every living thing that creeps along the ground 47 to make a distinction between the unclean and between the clean, and between the living things that may be eaten and between the living things that may not be eaten’ ”
12And then the Lord spoke to Moses, saying 2 “Speak to the sons of Israel and say to them, ‘Any woman who becomes pregnant and gives birth to a male will be unclean for seven days; according to the days of separation of her menstrual discharge, she will be unclean 3 And on the eighth day the flesh of his foreskin shall be circumcised 4 And she shall dwell in her impure blood thirty-three days; she shall not touch any vessel, and she shall not enter into the holy place until the days of her cleansing are completed 5 And if she gives birth to a female, then she shall be unclean two weeks, according to her menstruation; and she shall dwell in her impure blood sixty-six days 6 And whenever the days of her cleansing are completed, for a son or for a daughter, she shall bring to the entrance of the tent of testimony to the priest a one-year-old unblemished lamb for a whole burnt offering, and a young pigeon or a turtledove for a sin offering 7 And he shall offer it before the Lord, and the priest shall make atonement for her and will make purification for her from the flow of her blood. This is the instruction of the woman who bears a male or a female 8 But if her hand does not find enough for a lamb, then she will take two turtledoves or two young pigeons, one for a whole burnt offering and one for a sin offering; and the priest will make atonement for her, and she will be purified’ ”
13And the Lord spoke to Moses and Aaron, saying 2 “If a glaring significant mark happens to anyone on the skin of his flesh and an infection of skin disease develops in the skin of his flesh, then he will be brought to Aaron the priest, or one of his sons, the priests 3 Then the priest will examine the infection in the skin of his flesh. And if the hair in the infected area has turned white, and the appearance of the infected area is deeper than the skin of his flesh, it is an infection of skin disease. And the priest will examine it and will declare him unclean 4 But if it is shiny white at the skin of his flesh, and its appearance is not deep below its skin, and its hair has not changed to white hair, but is dark, then the priest will set the infection apart for seven days 5 Then the priest will observe the infection on the seventh day, and behold, the infection is present before him, the infection has not changed in the skin, then the priest will set him apart for seven days a second time 6 Then the priest will observe him on the seventh day, a second time, and behold, the infection is faint, the infection in the skin has not changed, the priest will make purification for him. For it is a mark, and when his garments have been washed, he will be clean 7 But if the mark in the skin has changed and become different after the priest has examined him to purify him, then he will appear before the priest the second time 8 And the priest will observe him, and behold, the mark has changed in the skin, and the priest will declare him unclean, for it is a skin disease 9 And an infection of skin disease, if it occurs on a person, and he comes to the priest 10 and the priest will look, and behold, a white mark on the skin, and it has turned the hair white, and some of the healthy part of the flesh is living in the affected area 11 it is an aging skin disease; it is in the skin of his flesh. And the priest will declare him unclean and will set him apart because he is unclean 12 But if the skin disease, blooming, blooms in the skin, and the skin disease covers all the skin of the infected area from his head to his feet according to the whole vision of the priest 13 then the priest will examine it, and behold, the skin disease has covered all the skin of his flesh, then the priest will pronounce him clean from the infection; because all has changed to white, he is clean 14 And on the day living flesh appears on him, he will be unclean 15 And the priest will look at the healthy flesh, and behold the healthy flesh makes him unclean, because it is unclean; it is a skin disease 16 But if the healthy flesh is restored and has turned white, then he will come to the priest 17 And the priest will look, and behold, the infection has changed to white, then the priest will clear the infection; it is clean 18 And if the flesh becomes a festering sore in his skin and becomes healthy again 19 and there comes in the place of the festering sore a white scar or an evident bright spot turning white or inflamed, and it becomes visible to the priest 20 then the priest will examine it, and behold, the appearance is lower than the skin and its hair has changed to white, and the priest will declare him unclean. It is a skin disease; it has broken out in the festering sore 21 But if the priest looks and, behold, no white hair is in it, and it is not lower than the skin of his flesh, and it is faint, the priest will set him apart for seven days 22 But if it is spreading and diffusing in the skin, then the priest will declare him unclean. The infection is a skin disease; it has broken out in the festering sore 23 But if the bright spot remains in the same territory and is spreading, it is not a scar from the festering sore, and so the priest will clear him 24 Now if an inflammation from fire develops in the flesh of his skin, and healthy flesh develops in the skin of the burnt area, shiny bright white, reddish or very white 25 and the priest will examine him, and look, his white hair has changed into a bright color and its appearance is deeper than the skin, it is a skin disease. It has broken out within the inflammation, and the priest will declare him unclean; it is an infection of a skin disease 26 But if the priest looks and, behold, there is no white hair within the bright shiny area, and it is not deep below the skin, but it is dark, then the priest will separate him for seven days 27 Then the priest will examine him on the seventh day, and if it is spreading vigorously in his skin, then the priest will declare him unclean; it is an infection of a skin disease. It has broken out in the festering sore 28 But if the bright spot remains in the same territory and is not diffused within the skin, but it is inconspicuous, the scar is from the inflamed area, and the priest will pronounce him clean, for the nature of it is from the inflamed area 29 Now if on a man or woman an infection of a skin disease develops on them on the head or in the beard 30 then the priest will examine the infection, and look, its appearance is sunken or beneath the skin, but fine and light hair is sprouting in it, and the priest will declare him unclean. It is a lesion; it is a skin disease of the head or a skin disease of the beard 31 And if the priest sees the infection of the wound, and behold, the appearance is not beneath the skin, and yellow hair is not present in it, and the priest will set the infection of the lesion apart for seven days 32 And the priest will look at the infection on the seventh day, and behold, the lesion has not spread, and brownish yellow sprouting hair is not in it, and the appearance of the lesion is not deeper than the skin 33 and the skin will be shaved, and the lesion will not be shaved, and the priest will set the lesion apart for seven days the second time 34 And the priest will look at the lesion on the seventh day, and behold, the lesion has not spread within the skin after he was shaved, and the appearance of the lesion is not deeper than the skin, and the priest will pronounce him clean, and when his garments have been washed, he will be clean 35 But if the lesion is definitely spreading and diffusing within the skin after he has been pronounced clean 36 and the priest will look, and behold, the lesion has spread within the skin, the priest will not inspect concerning the sprouting yellowish hair, because he is unclean 37 But if the lesion remains present in its place, and black hair has risen in it, the lesion has healed. It is clean, and the priest will pronounce him clean 38 And if on a man or woman a brightness develops on the skin of their flesh appearing being bright and white 39 and the priest will look and behold, spots in the skin of their flesh, appearing bright white, it is eczema; the person is clean. It will burst forth within the skin of their flesh; the person is clean 40 And if someone’s head has become bald, he is bald; he is clean 41 And if his head has become bald in the front, he is bald on the forehead; he is clean 42 But if a white or inflamed infection develops in his bald head or in his baldness on the forehead, it is a skin disease in his bald head or in his baldness on the forehead 43 And the priest will examine him, and behold, the appearance of the infection is white, inflamed in his bald part or in the bald part of his forehead like the appearance of a skin disease within the skin of his flesh 44 he is a person with a skin disease. The priest will declare him unclean with his infection on his head 45 And as for the person with a skin disease, who has the infection, have his garments loosened and his head uncovered, and there should be a covering over his mouth, and have him declared unclean 46 All the days when the infection is on him, being unclean, he will be unclean; he shall sit separated, his place to stay will be outside of the encampment 47 And in a garment, if an infection of a skin disease develops in it, in a wool garment or in a linen garment 48 or in the warp or in the threads or in the linen or in the worked wool, or on hide or on anything made of hide 49 and the infection or contamination becomes greenish or inflamed in the skin or in the garment or in the warp or in the threads or in any vessel made of skin, it is an infection of a skin disease, and he will show it to the priest 50 And the priest will examine the infection, and the priest will set the infection apart for seven days 51 And the priest will examine the infection on the seventh day, and if the infection is spreading in the garment, whether in the warp or in the thread or on the skin, throughout any skin made at work, it is a serious skin disease; the infection is unclean 52 He shall burn up the garment, whether the warp or the threads in the worked wool or in the linen material or in any leather vessel in which the infection is in it, because it is a skin disease; it shall be burned up by fire 53 And if the priest looks and the infection is not spreading, within the garment or within the warp or within the threads or on any leather vessel 54 then the priest will make a charge, and will wash whatever the infection was on, and the priest will set the infection apart for seven days for the second time 55 And the priest will examine it after the infection has been washed, and if this infection has not changed its appearance and the infection is not spreading, it is unclean; it shall be burned up in fire. It has become set in the garment, whether in the warp or in the threads 56 And if the priest looks, and the infection is dark after it has been washed, he will separate it from the clothing or from the skin or from the warp or from the cross-threads 57 And if it still appears in the garment or in the warp or in the threads or in any leather vessel, it is a skin disease; the thing in which the infection is shall be burned up in fire 58 Then the garment or the warp or the cross-threads or any article of skin that was washed and the infection removed from it will also be washed a second time; it will be clean 59 This is the law for an infection of a skin disease affecting a wool garment or a linen garment or of woven threads or of cross-threads or with respect to any article of skin, to pronounce it clean or to make it defiled”
14And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying 2 “This is the law for the person with a skin disease on the day he is cleansed and brought to the priest 3 And the priest will go outside of the encampment, and the priest will look, and behold, the infection of the skin disease is healed from the diseased person 4 And the priest will give instruction, and for the one who is pronounced clean, they will take two small ritually clean live birds and cedar wood and twisted scarlet wool and hyssop 5 And the priest will give instruction, and they will slaughter one small bird in an earthen vessel over running water 6 And the small live bird, he will take it and the cedar wood and the scarlet yarn and the hyssop and dip them and the small live bird into the blood from the other small bird that was slaughtered over running water 7 And he will sprinkle the person who has been cleansed from their serious skin condition seven times, and he will be clean, and he will send the small living bird out into the field 8 And the man who has been cleansed will wash his garments, and all his hair will be shaved, and he will bathe in water, and he will be clean; and after these things he will enter into the encampment. And he will spend time outside his house for seven days 9 And it will be on the seventh day, all his hair will be shaved, his head and his beard and his eyebrows, and all his hair will be shaved, and he will wash his garments and will bathe his body with water, and he will be ritually clean 10 And on the eighth day he will take two lambs, each a year old without blemish, and a sheep a year old without blemish, and three tenths of a measure of fine wheat flour kneaded with olive oil for a sacrifice, and one cup of olive oil 11 And the cleansing priest will set the person being cleansed and these things before the Lord at the entrance of the tent of the testimony 12 And the priest will take the one lamb and will bring it as a trespass offering, and the cup of olive oil, and will set it apart as a separate offering before the Lord 13 And they will slaughter the lamb in the place where they slaughter the whole burnt offerings and the sin offerings, in a sacred area, for it is a sin offering, just like the trespass offering. It is for the priest; it is holy of holies 14 And the priest will take some of the blood of the trespass offering, and the priest will put it on the lobe of the right ear of the person being cleansed and on the thumb of the right hand and on the great toe of his right foot 15 And when the priest has taken some from the cup of olive oil, he will pour it on the left hand of the priest 16 And he will dip his right finger from the olive oil that is on his left hand and sprinkle it seven times with his finger in the presence of the Lord 17 And the priest will place the leftover oil, which is in his hand, on the lobe of the right ear of the person being cleansed and on the thumb of his right hand and on the great toe of his right foot, at the location of the placement of the blood of the trespass offering 18 And the priest will put the leftover oil, which is on the hand of the priest, on the head of the person who has been cleansed, and the priest will make atonement for him in the presence of the Lord 19 And the priest will present the sin offering, and the priest will make atonement for him, the impure one being cleansed from his sin. And after this, the priest will slaughter the whole burnt offering 20 And the priest will offer up the whole burnt offering and the sacrifice on the altar before the Lord, and the priest will make atonement for him, and he will be cleansed 21 And if he is poor and his hand does not find, he will take one lamb for whatever trespass he has committed as a choice sacrificial portion in order to make atonement for him, along with a tenth part of fine wheat flour, kneaded in olive oil as an offering, and one cup of olive oil 22 and two turtledoves or two young pigeons, whatever his hand finds. And the one pigeon will be for a sin offering and the other for a whole burnt offering 23 And he shall offer them to the priest on the eighth day to purify him, at the entrance of the tent of testimony before the Lord 24 And the priest, taking the lamb of the trespass offering and the cup of olive oil, will place them as a raised offering before the Lord 25 And he will slaughter the lamb of the trespass offering, and the priest will take some of the blood of the trespass offering and will place it on the lobe of the right ear of the person being cleansed and on the thumb of his right hand and on the great toe of his right foot 26 And then the priest will pour the oil into the priest’s left hand 27 Then the priest will sprinkle some of the oil that is in his left hand with his right finger seven times before the Lord 28 And the priest will place the olive oil that is on his hand on the lobe of the right ear of the person being cleansed, and on the thumb of his right hand and on the great toe of his right foot, at the place of the blood of the trespass offering 29 And he will place what is left over from the olive oil, which is on the hand of the priest, on the head of the person who has been cleansed, and the priest will make atonement for him before the Lord 30 And he will present one of the turtledoves or the young chicks from the pigeons, as his hand finds 31 the one for a sin offering and the other for a whole burnt offering, along with the meal offering; and the priest will make atonement for the person being cleansed in the presence of the Lord 32 This is the instruction for someone who has an infection and his hand does not find for his purification” 33 And the Lord spoke to Moses and Aaron, saying 34 “When you enter into the land of the Canaan, which I myself am giving to you as a possession, and I bring an infection resembling a skin disease into the houses of your acquired land 35 and someone’s household comes and reports to the priest, saying, ‘Something like an infection has appeared in my house,’ 36 then the priest will give instructions to rid the house before the priest enters in to look at the house; and whatever was in the house will certainly not be unclean, and, after these things, the priest will enter in to closely examine the house 37 And he will examine the infection on the walls of the house, greenish indentations, and their appearance lower than the walls 38 And the priest, exiting from the house to the doorway of the house, and the priest will quarantine the house for seven days 39 And the priest will return on the seventh day and will examine the house, and behold, the infection has not spread on the walls of the house 40 and the priest will give instructions, and they will remove the stones (there is the infection) and throw them outside the city into an unclean location 41 Then they will scrape the house from the inside all around, and they will dispose of the mud outside of the city in an unclean location 42 And they will take strong scraped stones and set them in place of the previous stones, and they will take different mud and plaster the house 43 And if an infection comes back again and breaks out in the house after the stones have been removed and after the house has been scraped and after it has been replastered 44 and the priest will go in and look. If the infection has spread in the house, it is a skin disease in the house; it is unclean 45 And they will tear down the house and its wood and its stones, and they will carry all the mud outside the city to an unclean location 46 And the person who enters the house during the days it is marked off will be unclean until evening 47 And any person who sleeps in the house will wash his garments and will be unclean until evening; and any person who eats in the house will wash his garments and will be unclean until evening 48 But if, on arriving, the priest enters and looks, and, behold, the infection is not spreading in the house after the house has been replastered, then the priest will clear the house because the infection has been healed 49 Then he will take two small live ritually clean birds to purify the house, and cedar wood and twisted scarlet yarn and hyssop 50 And he will slaughter one small bird in an earthen vessel with running water 51 And he will take the cedar wood and the twisted scarlet yarn and the hyssop and the small live bird, and he will dip it into the blood of the small bird slaughtered over running water, and he will sprinkle the house with them seven times 52 And he will purify the house with the blood of the small bird and with the running water and with the small live bird and with the cedar wood and with the hyssop and with the twisted scarlet thread 53 Then he will send the small live bird out of the city into the field; and he will make atonement for the house, and it will be ritually clean 54 This is the instruction concerning every infection of a skin disease and lesion 55 and of a skin disease on any clothes or house 56 and of a scar, and mark, and brightening 57 and for describing on which day it is unclean and on which day it is cleansed; this is the instruction for skin disease”
15And the Lord spoke to Moses and Aaron, saying 2 “Speak to the people of Israel and say to them, ‘To a man to a man to whom a discharge from his body happens, his discharge is unclean 3 And this is the instruction concerning his impurity: The one who is discharging semen from his body, from the discharge that his body comprehended on account of the discharge, this is his uncleanness in him. All the days of the discharge from his body, which his body has comprehended because of the discharge, this is his impurity 4 Any bed on which, if the one with gonorrhea lies on it, is unclean. And any vessel or implement on which, if the one with gonorrhea sits on it, will be unclean 5 And any person who touches his bed must wash his garments and must bathe with water, and he will be unclean until evening 6 And any person who sits on a vessel on which a person who has a discharge may have sat, he must wash his garments and must bathe with water, and he will be unclean until evening 7 And any person who touches the skin or flesh of the person with a discharge must wash his garments and must bathe with water, and he will be unclean until evening 8 And if the person affected by a discharge spits on a person who is clean, he must wash his garments and must bathe with water, and he will be unclean until evening 9 And any pack saddle on a beast of burden on which the person who has a discharge may mount upon will be unclean until evening 10 And anyone who touches anything that may be under him, he will be unclean until evening. And anyone who picks these items up must wash his garments and bathe with water, and he will be unclean until evening 11 And whoever the person affected by a discharge touches, and has not washed his hands, he must wash his garments and bathe his body with water, and he will be unclean until evening 12 And an earthen vessel that the person who has a discharge touches must be broken. And a wooden implement must be washed with water, and it will be clean 13 And if the person affected by a discharge is cleansed from his discharge, then seven days will be assigned to him for his purification, and he will wash his garments and must bathe his body with water, and he will be ritually clean 14 And on the eighth day he will take for himself two turtledoves or two nestling pigeons, and he shall bring them before the Lord to the entrances of the tent of testimony and will give them to the priest 15 And the priest will present them, one for sin and one for a whole burnt offering, and the priest will make atonement for him before the Lord because of his discharge 16 “ ‘And a person for whom a bed of seed comes out from him also shall bathe his entire body with water, and he will be unclean until evening 17 And any garment and any skin on which there may be on it a bed of seed, then it will be washed with water, and it will be unclean until evening 18 And a woman, whenever a man lies with her with a bed of seed, then they will wash with water, and they will be unclean until evening 19 “ ‘And a woman who is discharging blood, her discharge will be in her body; she will be in her period for seven days. Anyone who touches her will be unclean until evening 20 And anything on which she lies on in her menstruation, it will be unclean. And anything on which she sits on it will be unclean 21 And every person who touches her bed must wash his garments and must bathe his body with water and will be unclean until evening 22 And every person who touches any vessel she sat on must wash his garments and must bathe with water and will be unclean until evening 23 And he will be unclean until evening if while she is in her bed or on any thing where she sits on it when he touches her 24 And if someone lies in bed with her and her uncleanness comes on him, then he will be unclean for seven days. And every bed that she lies on will be unclean 25 “ ‘And a woman, if she is discharging a discharge of blood for many days, not at the time of her period, and if she is discharging after her period, she will be unclean all the days of her impure discharge, just as during the time of her period 26 And any bed on which she lies on it during the days of her discharge will be to her corresponding to the bed of her period, and any vessel on which she sits on it will be unclean, corresponding to the uncleanness of her period 27 Everyone who touches her will be unclean and must wash his garments and must bathe his body with water and will be unclean until evening 28 And if she is cleansed from her discharge, then seven days will be assigned to her, and after these she will be declared clean 29 And on the eighth day she will take for herself two turtledoves or two young pigeons and will bring them to the priest, to the entrance of the tent of testimony 30 And the priest will present the one bird for a sin offering and the other for a whole burnt offering, and the priest will make atonement for her before the Lord because of her unclean discharge 31 “ ‘And you will make the sons of Israel clean from their uncleanness and they will not die on account of their uncleanness when they pollute my tabernacle, which is among them 32 This is the regulation for the person affected by a discharge, and whenever someone has a bed of seed come out from him so as to be be polluted by it 33 and for the person who has a discharge of blood during her period and the person affected by a discharge in their discharge, for the male or for the female, and for any man who lies with a woman who is sitting apart’ ”
16And the Lord spoke to Moses after the two sons of Aaron died, when they brought unauthorized fire into the presence of the Lord, and they died[11] 2 And the Lord said to Moses, “Speak to Aaron, your brother, and do not let him enter at any time into the innermost holy place of the veil into the face of the mercy seat, which is on the ark of the testimony, so that he will not die; for I will appear in a cloud above the mercy seat 3 In this way Aaron will enter into the holy place: with a young bull from the herd for a sin offering and a ram for a whole burnt offering 4 And he will wear a consecrated linen tunic, and linen undergarments will be next to his skin, and he will be girded with a linen sash, and a linen turban will be placed around his head; they are holy garments. And he will bathe his entire body with water, and he will put on these garments 5 And from the community of the sons of Israel, of the goats he will take two he-goats for a sin offering, and one ram for a whole burnt offering 6 And Aaron will bring the young bull for his sin offering and will make atonement for himself and his household 7 And he will take the two he-goats and will make them stand in the presence of the Lord at the entrance of the tent of testimony 8 And Aaron will place a lot on each of the two he-goats: one for the Lord and one lot for the one who carries away evil 9 And Aaron will bring the he-goat on which the lot for the Lord came on it, and he shall offer it for a sin offering 10 And the he-goat on which the lot for the carrying away of evil came on it, he will make it stand alive before the Lord in order to make atonement through it, in order to send it away for the removing of sin; he will let it loose into the wilderness 11 And Aaron will bring the young bull for his sin offering, and for his household only, and will make atonement for himself and for his household, and he will slaughter the young bull for his sin offering 12 And he will take the censer full of glowing coals from the altar which is before the Lord, and he will fill his hands with fragrant incense of finely ground, specially compounded ingredients, and will carry it inside the veil 13 And he will place the incense on the fire before the Lord; and the smoke of the fragrant incense will cover the mercy seat, which is above the testimonies, so that he will not die 14 And he will take some of the blood of the young bull and sprinkle it with his finger on the mercy seat toward the east; he will sprinkle some of the blood toward the front area of the mercy seat seven times with his finger 15 And he will slaughter the he-goat for the sin offering concerning the people in the presence of the Lord; and he will carry its blood inside the veil and will present its blood the way he offered the blood of the young bull and will sprinkle its blood on the mercy seat, along the area in front of the mercy seat 16 And he will make atonement with respect to the holy place because of the uncleanness of the sons of Israel and because of their trespasses with respect to all of their sins; and so he will act for the tent of testimony constructed among them in the midst of their uncleanness 17 And no person will be in the tent of testimony while he is entering into it to make atonement in the holy place, until he comes out. And he will make atonement for himself and his household and for the entire community of the sons of Israel 18 And he will go out to the altar, which is before the Lord, and he will make atonement on it, and he will take some of the blood of the young bull and from the blood of the he-goat and place it on the horns of the altar all around 19 And he will sprinkle some of the blood with his finger seven times, and he will cleanse it, and he will sanctify it from the uncleanness of the sons of Israel 20 And he will finish making atonement for the holy place and the tent of testimony and the altar, and with respect to the priests he will cleanse and will bring the live he-goat 21 And Aaron will place his hands on the head of the live he-goat, and he will declare openly over it all the transgressions of the sons of Israel and all their injustices and all their sins, and he will place them on the head of the live he-goat, and he will send it out, by the hand of a person prepared for this, into the wilderness 22 And the he-goat will take their injustices on itself into a desolate land, and he will send the he-goat out into the wilderness 23 And Aaron will enter the tent of testimony, and he will take off the linen garment, which he put on after he entered the holy place, and will store it there 24 Then he shall bathe his body with water in the sacred area, and he shall put on his garment. And when he has exited, he will perform the whole burnt offering for himself and the whole burnt offering for the people, and he will make atonement for himself and for his household and for the people, just as for the priests 25 And he will offer the fat for their sins on the altar 26 And the person who sent out the he-goat that was set apart for release shall wash his garments and bathe his body with water, and after these things he will return to the encampment 27 And the young bull for the sin offering and the he-goat for the sin offering, from which the blood was brought into the holy place to make atonement, they will carry them outside of the encampment, and they will burn them with fire—that is, their skins and their flesh and their excrement 28 And the person who burns these items must wash his garments and must bathe his body with water, and after these things he will return to the encampment 29 Now this will be a perpetual law for you. In the seventh month, you will humble your souls, and you will not do any work, the person who is a native or the person who is a resident alien who is dwelling among you 30 For on this day he will make atonement for you to cleanse you from all of your sins in the presence of the Lord; and you will be cleansed 31 This will be a most holy Sabbath rest for you, and you must humble your souls; it is a perpetual law 32 The priest will make atonement, whomever they anoint and whomever they consecrate his hands to serve as priest after his father, and he will put on the linen garment, the sacred garment 33 And he will make atonement with respect to the holy of holies and for the tent of testimony and for the altar, and he will make atonement for the priests, and he will make atonement for the entire community 34 And this will be a perpetual law for you to make atonement for the sons of Israel on behalf of all their sins; once a year it will be done,” just as the Lord commanded Moses
17And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying 2 “Speak to Aaron and to his sons and to all the sons of Israel, and say to them, ‘This is the instruction that the Lord charged, saying 3 “A person a person of the sons of Israel or of the resident aliens or those who are abiding among you, whoever slaughters a young bull or a sheep or a goat in the encampment, and whoever does the slaughtering outside the encampment 4 and does not bring it at the entrance of the tent of testimony in order to present it as a whole burnt offering or as an offering of well-being for the Lord, approved as a sweet-smelling aroma, and whoever does the slaughtering outside and does not bring it at the entrance of the tent of the testimony so that he does not present it as a gift for the Lord in front of the tent of the Lord, then blood will be reckoned to that person; he has shed blood. That person will be utterly destroyed from his people[12] 5 This is so that the sons of Israel will bring and present their sacrifices, whatever they themselves slaughter in the fields and bring to the Lord at the entrances of the tent of testimony to the priest. And they will sacrifice them as a sacrifice of peace to the Lord 6 And the priest will pour out the blood at the altar all around before the Lord beside the entrances of the tent of testimony. And he will offer up the fat as a sweet-smelling aroma to the Lord 7 And they will no longer sacrifice their sacrifices to the pointless beings with whom they themselves commit fornication by going after them; it will be a perpetual law for you throughout your generations.” 8 “ ‘And you shall say to them, “A person a person of the sons of Israel and of the sons of the resident aliens who are living among you, whoever performs a whole burnt offering or a sacrifice 9 but does not bring it to the entrance of the tent of testimony to present it to the Lord, that person will be utterly destroyed from among his people.” 10 “ ‘And, “A person a person of the sons of Israel and of the resident aliens who are living among you, whoever eats any blood, and I will set my face against the person who consumes blood, and I will destroy that person from among his people 11 For the life of all flesh is its blood, and I myself have given it to you on the altar to make atonement for your souls; for its blood will make atonement for the soul 12 Because of this, I have said to the sons of Israel that no person from you will consume blood, and the resident alien who is dwelling among you will not consume blood 13 And a person a person from the sons of Israel and from the resident aliens who are living among you, whoever catches a wild animal or bird that can be eaten, he will also pour out its blood and cover it in the earth 14 For the life of all flesh is its blood, and I told the sons of Israel that you will not eat the blood of any flesh because the life of any flesh is its blood. Anyone who eats it will be utterly destroyed 15 And every person who consumes a dead animal or something mauled by wild beasts among the native people or the resident aliens shall wash his garments and bathe with water and be unclean until evening; then he will be clean 16 But if he does not wash his garments or bathe his body with water, then he will bear his transgression of the law.” ’ ”
18And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying 2 “Speak to the sons of Israel and say to them, ‘I am the Lord your God 3 You shall not do according to the customs of the land of Egypt, in which you dwelt in it. And you shall not do according to the customs of the land of Canaan, into which I myself am leading you there, and you shall not conduct yourself by their laws 4 You shall perform my judgments, and you will observe my ordinances in order to walk in them; I am the Lord, your God 5 And you will carefully keep all my ordinances and all my judgments, and you will do them, which having done them, a person will live by them; I am the Lord your God 6 ‘A person a person will not come in unto any family member of his flesh to uncover shame; I am the Lord 7 You shall not uncover the shame of your father and the shame of your mother; for she is your mother, and you shall not uncover her shame 8 You shall not uncover the shame of the wife of your father; it is the shame of your father 9 The shame of your sister from your father or your mother born in the household or outside, you will not uncover her shame 10 The shame of the daughter of your son or of the daughter of your daughter, you will not uncover their shame, because it is your shame 11 You shall not uncover the shame of the daughter of your father’s wife; she is your sister by the same father. You shall not uncover her shame 12 You shall not uncover the shame of the sister of your father, for she is a near relative of your father 13 You will not uncover the shame of the sister of your mother, for she is a near relative of your mother 14 You will not uncover the shame of the brother of your father, and you shall not enter into his wife, for she is your close relative 15 You will not uncover the shame of your daughter-in-law, for she is the wife of your son; you will not uncover her shame 16 You will not uncover the shame of the wife of your brother; she is the shame of your brother 17 You will not uncover the shame of a woman and her daughter. You will not take the daughter of her son and the daughter of her daughter to uncover their shame, for they are your near relatives; it is an impious act 18 You will not take a woman against her sister as a rival, to uncover her shame against her while she is living 19 And because of her uncleanness you will not approach a woman during menstrual discharge to uncover her shame 20 And you will not give bed of your seed with the wife of your neighbor to become unclean by her 21 And you will not give any of your seed in worship to a ruler, and you will not profane the Holy Name; I am the Lord 22 And with a male you will not lie the bed of a woman, for it is an abomination 23 And you will not give your bed to any four-footed beast to produce offspring so as to become defiled with it; and a woman will not stand to any four-footed beast to be mounted; for it is loathsome 24 ‘Do not pollute yourselves with any of these practices, for by all these practices the peoples that I myself am sending out before your face became unclean 25 And the land was defiled, and I am paying injustice back to them on account of it; and the land was provoked by the inhabitants on it 26 And you will observe all my laws, and all my commandments, and you shall not do any of these abominations, the native inhabitant or the settled resident alien among you 27 For the people of the land who were there before you did all these abominations, and the land was defiled 28 And do this so that the land will not be provoked by you, by your polluting it the way it was provoked by the peoples before you 29 For anyone who may perform any of all these abominations, those persons who do so will be utterly destroyed from among their people 30 And carefully keep my commandments in order that you do not observe any of all the laws of the abominations that have occurred before you, and so you will not be polluted by them, for I am the Lord your God’ ”
19And then the Lord spoke to Moses, saying 2 “Speak in the congregation of the sons of Israel and say to them, ‘You will be holy because I, the Lord your God, am holy 3 Let each one reverence his father and his mother, and observe my Sabbaths—I am the Lord your God 4 You shall not turn to idols, and you will not make molten gods for yourselves—I am the Lord your God 5 And whenever you sacrifice an offering of peace to the Lord, sacrifice a tenth from yourselves 6 Whatever day you sacrifice, it shall be eaten, and on the next day; and if there is something left until the third day, it shall be burned up by fire 7 But if it is eaten for food on the third day, it is no longer fit as an offering; it shall not be acceptable 8 But the person who eats it will bear guilt because he profaned the holy things of the Lord, and so those persons who consume it will be utterly destroyed from among their people 9 And you, when reaping the produce of your land, you will not finish your harvesting from the field completely, and you will not gather up what is left over of your harvest 10 And you will not glean your vineyard, nor will you gather up the fallen grapes of your vineyard. You will leave them for the needy and for the resident alien—I myself am the Lord your God 11 You shall not steal; you shall not lie; you shall not slander anyone against his neighbor 12 And you shall not swear by my name unjustly, and you will not profane the name of your God—I myself am the Lord your God 13 You will not act unjustly against your neighbor, and neither shall you rob him, and certainly the wages of the hired servant will not remain with you until morning 14 You will not speak in an insulting way concerning a deaf person, and you will not place a stumbling block in front of a blind person, and you will reverence the Lord your God—I myself am the Lord your God 15 You will not act unfairly in judgment: you will not defer to the face of a needy person, nor shall you be impressed by the face of a powerful person; you will judge your neighbor in righteous justice 16 You will not proceed treacherously among your people; you shall not attack the blood of your neighbor—I myself am the Lord your God 17 You will not hate your brother in your thoughts; firmly reprove your neighbor, and you will not incur guilt on account of him 18 And your hand will not take vengeance for you, and you will not bear a grudge against the sons of your people. And you shall love your neighbor as yourself—I myself am the Lord 19 Observe my law. You will not crossbreed your livestock with a different kind of animal, and you will not sow your vineyard with different seeds, and you will not put on yourself a garment from two woven materials mingled together 20 And if someone lies with a woman for a bed of semen, but she is a household slave being kept for a man, and she has not been ransomed for a ransom price, or freedom has not been given to her, there will be a punishment for them; they will not die because she was not set free 21 And he will bring his trespass offering to the Lord, to the entrance of the tent of testimony, a ram as a trespass offering 22 And the priest will make atonement for him with the ram of the trespass offering for the sin that he committed before the Lord, and the sin that he committed will be forgiven for him 23 And whenever you enter into the land that the Lord God is granting to you and you plant any edible fruit tree, then clean away its uncleanness. Its fruit will be impure to you for three years; it will not be eaten 24 But in the fourth year, all its fruit will be sacred, a praiseworthy thing to the Lord 25 And in the fifth year, you will eat the fruit; its produce is your increase—I myself am the Lord your God 26 Do not eat on the mountains, and do not practice divination or divine omens by observing or examining birds 27 You will not make curled hair from the hair of your head, nor shall you disfigure the appearance of your beard 28 And you shall not make gashes on yourself in your body, and you shall not make tattooed incisions on you—I myself am the Lord your God 29 You will not profane your daughter by making her commit harlotry, and the land will not commit harlotry, lest the land become filled with shameful behavior 30 You will observe my Sabbaths, and my sanctuaries you will treat with reverence—I am the Lord 31 You shall not turn to familiar spirits, and you shall not become bound to enchanters to become defiled by them—I myself am the Lord your God 32 In the presence of an aged person you will arise, and you will pay honor in the presence of an elder, and so you will reverence your God—I myself am the Lord your God 33 And if someone comes, a resident alien, among you in your land, you will not oppress him 34 Just as the native among you, so will be the resident alien who comes to you, and so you shall love him as yourself, for you were resident aliens in the land of Egypt—I myself am the Lord your God 35 You shall not act unfairly in judgment of measurement and in weights and scales and in balances and volumes 36 Just scales and honest weights and a just liquid measure you will have; I myself am the Lord your God, who brought you out from the land of Egypt 37 Now you will observe all my regulations and all my commandments, and you will do them—I myself am the Lord your God’ ”
20And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying 2 “Now speak to the sons of Israel: ‘If anyone from the sons of Israel or from those who have become converts in Israel, who may give of his seed to a ruler, to death let him die; the people who are on the land will stone him with stones 3 And I myself will set my face against that person, and I will destroy him from among his people because he gave his seed to a ruler, so that he has polluted my holy sanctuary and profaned the name of those consecrated to me 4 But if the native people of the land have with their own eyes arrogantly overlooked that person when he gave his seed to a ruler, so as not to execute him 5 and I will set my face against that person and his relatives, and I will destroy him and everyone agreeing with him for the purpose of his playing the harlot toward the rulers from their people 6 And any person who seeks out familiar spirits or enchanters in order to commit fornication after them, I will set my face against that person and will utterly destroy that person from their people 7 Indeed, you will be holy because I myself, the Lord your God, am holy 8 And you will observe my commandments, and you will do them; I myself am the Lord who sanctifies you 9 Any person who may speak evil of his father or his mother, to death let him die. He has spoken evil of his father or his mother; he will be liable 10 Any person who commits adultery with a married woman or who commits adultery with the wife of a neighbor, to death let them die, the adulterer and the adulteress 11 If anyone lies with the wife of his father, he has uncovered the shame of his father. Let them be put to death; they are both guilty 12 And if anyone lies with his daughter-in-law, to death let them both die, for they have committed sacrilege; they are guilty 13 And whoever lies with a male in sexual intercourse as with a woman, they have both committed an abomination; let them be executed; they are guilty 14 The one who takes a woman and her mother, it is iniquity; they will burn him and them by fire, and no evil conduct will be among you 15 And one who may engage in his sexual intercourse with any four-footed beast, to death let him die; and you will slay the four-footed beast 16 And if any woman should approach toward any animal for her to have intercourse by it, you will execute the woman and the animal; to death let them die; they are guilty 17 Whoever may take his sister from his father’s side or from his mother’s side and so see her shame, and she sees his shame, it is disgraceful; they will be utterly destroyed in the presence of the members of their relatives. He has uncovered the shame of his sister; they have incurred guilt[13] 18 And a man who may lie with a woman indisposed because of menstruation and so uncovers her shame, he has uncovered the source of her flow, and she has uncovered the discharge of her blood; both of them will be utterly destroyed from among their people 19 And you will not uncover the shame of the sister of your father or of the sister of your mother, for she has uncovered kin; they will bear guilt 20 Whoever may lie with his female relative, he has uncovered the shame of his female relative; they will die childless 21 Whoever may take the wife of his brother, it is his uncleanness; he has uncovered the shame of his brother; they will die childless 22 And you will carefully keep all my commandments and my judgments and do them; and the land into which I myself am leading you to settle there on it, it will not be provoked at you 23 And you shall not conduct yourself according to the customs of those peoples whom I am expelling from your midst, because they did all these things, and so I abhorred them 24 And I said to you, “You yourselves will inherit their land, and I myself will give it to you for a possession, a land flowing with milk and honey. I am the Lord your God, who separated you from all the nations.” 25 And you shall separate them between the clean livestock and between the unclean livestock, and between the clean birds and the unclean. And you will not abominate your lives by livestock or by birds or by any of the creeping animals of the land, which I myself have set aside for you, through uncleanness 26 And so you will be a holy people to me because I myself am holy, the Lord your God who has separated you from all the peoples to be mine 27 And a man or a woman with them who may happen to be a divining spirit or an enchanter, to death let them both die. Stone them with stones; they are guilty’ ”
21And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying, “Speak to the priests, to the sons of Aaron, and say to them, ‘They will not pollute themselves with the dead among their people 2 except for someone in their nearest household, for father and mother and sons and daughters, for a brother, 3 and for a virgin sister who is close to him who is not espoused to a man; for these he may be defiled. 4 He will not defile himself unexpectedly among his people unto his profanation. 5 And you will not shave your head bald for a dead person, and they will not cut the appearance of your beard, and they will not carve incisions on their flesh. 6 They will be holy people to their God, and they will not profane the name of their God, for the sacrifices of the Lord and the gifts of their God they themselves will bring forward, and they will be a holy people. 7 They shall not take a woman who is a prostitute and defiled as a wife, nor a woman divorced from her husband; the priest is holy to the Lord his God. 8 And he will keep himself holy. This person offers the gifts of the Lord your God; he will be holy because I, the Lord, the one who sanctifies them, am holy. 9 And a daughter of a man who is a priest, if she defiles herself by resorting to harlotry, she herself profanes the name of her father; by fire she will be burned up. 10 “‘And the high priest from his brothers, when the olive oil for the anointed has been poured on his head, and his hand has been filled to put on the sacred garments, he will not take the turban off of his head, and he will not rend the sacred garments. 11 And he will not go unto any dead person, to his father or to his mother; he will not become unclean. 12 And he will not go out of the sanctuary, and he will not profane the sacred sanctuary of his God, because the holy anointing oil of God is on him—I am the Lord. [14] 13 He will take a virgin from among his people, 14 but a widow or a divorced woman or a defiled woman or a prostitute, these types of women he will not take. Instead, he will take a virgin from among his own people as a wife. 15 And so he will not profane his own seed among his people; I am the Lord who sanctifies him.’” 16 And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying, 17 “Say to Aaron, ‘A man from among your offspring, in your generations, to whom there may be in him some defect, he may not come forward to present the offerings of his God. 18 Any person concerning whom there may be in him some defect, he may not come forward to serve: a lame or blind man or a man with a mutilated nose or cropped ears; 19 any person concerning whom there is in him a broken hand or a broken foot, 20 or is hunchbacked or has an eye disease or inflamed eyelids around his eyes, or any person to whom there may be in him mange or serious skin blemishes or has only one testicle. 21 Any person from the seed of Aaron the priest to whom there is in him some defect, he shall not approach to present sacrifices to your God; because of the defect in him, he may not come forward to present the gifts of God. 22 The gifts for God—the holy of holies, indeed, from the holy things he will eat. 23 Only he may not come forward to the veil and will not draw near to the altar since he has some defect, and he will not profane the holy place of his God, because I myself am the Lord who sanctifies them.’” 24 And Moses spoke to Aaron and his sons and to all the sons of Israel.
22And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying, 2 “Say to Aaron and his sons and let them pay close attention with respect to the holy things from the members of Israel, and they will not profane my holy name with respect to any of the things they themselves make hallow to me; I am the Lord. 3 Say to them, ‘Throughout your generations any man who may approach from your seed up to the holy things, which the sons of Israel may consecrate to the Lord, and his uncleanness shall be on him, that person shall be utterly destroyed from my presence; I am the Lord your God. 4 And if there is any man from the seed of Aaron the priest, and this person has leprosy or has a discharge, he will not eat from the holy things until he is ceremonially cleansed. And anyone who touches any uncleanness from a dead person, or any man concerning whom may come out of him an ejaculation of seed, 5 whoever may touch any unclean creeping thing, which will defile him, or a person by whom it will defile him with respect to any of his uncleanness, 6 whatever person touches them will be unclean until evening; he will not eat from the holy things unless he bathes his body with water. 7 And when the sun sets, then he will be clean, and then he may eat the holy things, because it is his food. 8 The carcass of an animal and what is killed by wild beasts he will not consume, that he might be polluted by them; I am the Lord. 9 And they will maintain my obligations in order that they may not incur guilt because of them, and they die on account of him. But if they should profane themselves, I am the Lord God who sanctifies them. 10 “‘And any stranger will not consume holy portions; a guest of a priest or a hired servant will not consume holy portions. 11 But if a priest acquires a purchased person with silver, this person may eat from his food, and servants born into his household will also eat his food. 12 And a daughter of a male priest, if she marries a man of another race, she shall not eat from the firstfruits of the sanctuary. 13 And when a daughter of a priest becomes a widow or a divorced woman, but there was no seed from her, she will return to her father’s house according to her childhood; from the food of her father she will eat. And any unauthorized person will not eat from them. 14 And whenever any person eats holy portions without knowing it, then he will add a fifth more of it to what he ate, and he will pay the holy food to the priest. 15 And they will not profane the holy portions of the sons of Israel, which they themselves bring out to the Lord. 16 And they will bring on themselves the wickedness of evil conduct when they eat their sacred portions, because I am the Lord, the one who sanctifies them.’” Acceptable and Unacceptable Offerings 17 And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying, 18 “Instruct Aaron and his sons and the whole congregation of Israel, and say to them, ‘A person from the sons of Israel or from the sons of the resident aliens of those who are coming to live among them in Israel who may present his gifts according to all their agreements or according to any of their freewill offerings which they may present to God for a burnt offering, 19 to be acceptable on your behalf it must be a male without blemish from among the cattle and from the sheep and from the goats. 20 Anything whatsoever that may have any defect in it they will not bring near for the Lord, since it will not be acceptable on your behalf. 21 And any person who may present an offering of peace to the Lord, discharging a vow according to a freewill offering or in your feasts from the cattle or from the sheep, it must be unblemished to be acceptable; any defect will not be in it. 22 A blind or injured animal, or with its tongue cut out or covered with warts or afflicted with an inflamed or infected itch, or being marked with scars from boils, they will not bring these animals near to the Lord, and for a burnt offering you will not present any of them on the altar to the Lord. [15] 23 But a young bull or a sheep with split ears or docked tail, as offerings you will offer them for yourself, but for your votive offering they shall not be accepted. 24 Anything with crushed or bruised testicles or that is castrated or mutilated, you will not bring it forward to the Lord; and in your land, you will not do such things. 25 And from the hand of a stranger you will not present the offerings and gifts of your God from any of these animals, since it is perishable in them. Some defect is in them; it will not be accepted on your behalf.’” 26 And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying, 27 “Concerning a young bull or a sheep or goat, whenever it may be born, then it must be seven days under its mother, but on the eighth day and henceforth it will be acceptable as a burnt offering to the Lord. 28 And a young bull or a sheep, it and its young you will not slay on the same day. 29 But whenever you offer a sacrifice, a votive offering out of joy to the Lord, you will offer it as acceptable on your behalf. 30 That very day it must be eaten; you will not leave any of its flesh until morning—I myself am the Lord. 31 “Now keep carefully my commandments and do them. 32 And you will not profane the holy name, and I will be reverenced as holy in the midst of the sons of Israel. I am the Lord, who sanctifies you, 33 the one who brought you out of the land of Egypt in order to be your God; I am the Lord.”
23And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying, 2 “Speak to the sons of Israel and say to them, ‘The festivals of the Lord, which you will call sacred assemblies, these are my festivals.’” The Sabbath, Passover, and Unleavened Bread 3 “‘Six days you will do your work, and on the seventh day there is a Sabbath of rest, a holy assembly to the Lord. You will not do any work; it is a Sabbath of rest to your Lord in all of your dwellings. 4 “‘These are the festivals to the Lord, and these festivals you shall call holy at their appointed times. 5 In the first month, on the fourteenth day of the month, in the middle of the evenings there is a Passover to the Lord. [16] 6 And on the fifteenth day of this month is a Festival of Unleavened Bread to the Lord; for seven days you shall eat unleavened bread. 7 And the first day will be a holy assembly for you; you will not perform any common labor. 8 And you will bring whole burnt offerings to the Lord for seven days. And the seventh day will be a holy assembly for you; you will not perform any common labor.’” Firstfruits 9 And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying, 10 “Tell the sons of Israel, and say to them, ‘Whenever you enter into the land, which I myself am giving to you, and reap its produce, then you will bring a sheaf, the firstfruits of your harvest, to the priest. 11 And he will offer up the sheaf in the presence of the Lord, acceptable on your behalf. On the next day after the first, the priest will offer it up. 12 And on the day in which you offer up the sheaf, you will offer an unblemished sheep of a year old for a whole burnt offering to the Lord. 13 And its offering will be two tenths of a measure of fine wheat flour prepared with olive oil, an offering to the Lord, a sweetsmelling odor to the Lord, and its drink offering the fourth of a hin of wine. 14 And you will not eat bread and newly roasted grain until this very day, until you yourselves bring your gifts near to your God; it is a perpetual law throughout your generations in all of your settlements.’” The Festival of Weeks 15 “‘And you yourselves will count from the day following the Sabbath, from the day on which you present the sheaf of the elevated offering, seven full weeks. 16 Up to the next day after the last week you will calculate fifty days, and you will present a newly harvested offering to the Lord. 17 From your settlements you will present loaves as an elevated offering, two loaves. They will be from two tenths of a measure of fine wheat flour. Being leavened, they will be baked from the firstfruits to the Lord. 18 And he shall bring with the loaves seven lambs without blemish, a year old, and a young bull from the herd, and two rams without blemish. And they will be a whole burnt offering to the Lord, and their accompanying meal sacrifices and their drink offerings, a sacrifice, a sweet-smelling aroma to the Lord. 19 And they will prepare a single he-goat from the goats for a sin offering, and two lambs a year old for an offering of peace with the loaves of the firstfruits. 20 And the priest will place them with the loaves of firstfruits as an elevated offering in the presence of the Lord with the two lambs. They will be holy things to the Lord; they will belong to the priest who offers them to him. 21 And you will convene an assembly this day; it will be holy to you. You will not perform any common labor in it, a perpetual law throughout your generations in all of your settlements. 22 “‘And whenever you reap the produce of your land, you will not gather up the remains of the harvest of your field when you reap. And what falls from your harvest you will not gather up; you will leave it to the needy and to the resident alien. I myself am the Lord your God.’” The Feast of Trumpets 23 And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying, 24 “Speak to the sons of Israel, saying, ‘The seventh month, on the first of the month, rest will be yours, a memorial of trumpets; it will be a holy assembly to you. 25 You will not perform any common labor, and you will bring a whole burnt offering to the Lord.’” The Day of Atonement 26 Then the Lord spoke to Moses, saying, 27 “Now on the tenth day of the month, of this seventh month, is a Day of Atonement. It will be a holy assembly to you, and you must humble your souls, and you will bring a whole burnt offering to the Lord. 28 You will not perform any labor on this same day, for it is a Day of Atonement; this is for you to make atonement for yourselves before the Lord your God. 29 Any person whosoever will not humble himself on this very day will be utterly destroyed from among his people. 30 And every person whosoever will engage in labor on this very day, that person will be destroyed from his people. [17] 31 You will not perform any work; this is a perpetual law throughout your generations in all your settlements. 32 It will be a Sabbath of complete rest for you, and you must humble your souls. From the ninth of the month, from evening until evening, you will keep your Sabbaths.” The Festival of Tabernacles 33 And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying, 34 “Speak to the sons of Israel, saying, ‘On the fifteenth day of this seventh month is a Festival of Tabernacles, for seven days to the Lord. 35 Now the first day is a holy assembly; you will not perform any common labor. 36 For seven days you will bring whole burnt offerings to the Lord, and the eighth day will be a holy assembly for you, and you will present whole burnt offerings to the Lord. It is the closing celebration;a you will not perform any common labor. 37 These are the festivals to the Lord that you will call sacred assemblies, in order to present burnt offerings to the Lord, whole burnt offerings and their accompanying grain offerings and their drink offerings according to what is appropriate from day to day, 38 except for the regular Sabbaths of the Lord, and except for your gifts, and except for all of your vow offerings, and except for your freewill offerings, which you may give to the Lord. 39 “‘Now on the fifteenth day of the month of this seventh month, whenever you have finished the yield of the land, keep a holiday to the Lord for seven days. On the first day is a time of rest, and on the eighth day is a time of rest. 40 And on the first day you will take ripe fruit of the fruit tree and soft branches of date palm trees and twigs of trees dense with leaves and willows and chaste-tree branches from beside a brook to enjoy and cheer oneself before the Lord your God for seven days in the year. 41 This is a perpetual law throughout your generations; in the seventh month you will celebrate it. 42 Live in tabernaclesb for seven days; every native in Israel will dwell in tabernacles 43 so that your offspring may see that I caused the sons of Israel to dwell in tabernacles when I led them out from the land of Egypt—I myself am the Lord your God.’” 44 And Moses summarized the festivals and sacred times of the Lord to the sons of Israel.
24And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying, 2 “Charge the sons of Israel, and let them receive pure olive oil for me, beaten out for a light source, to light a lamp perpetually. 3 Aaron and his sons will keep burning it outside of the veil in the tent of testimony from evening until early morning, in the presence of the Lord continuously; this is a perpetual law throughout your generations. [18] 4 On the pure lampstand you will kindle the lamps before the Lord until morning. 5 And you will take fine wheat flour and make twelve loaves with it; each loaf will be made with two tenths of a measure. 6 And you will place them as two rows, six loaves to one row, on top of the pure table before the Lord. 7 And you will place on each row pure frankincense and salt, and they will be for the bread as a present reminder to the Lord. 8 On the Sabbath day it will be set before the Lord throughout every Sabbath in the presence of the people of Israel, a perpetual covenant. 9 And they will be to Aaron and to his sons, and they will eat them in the sacred area; for it is the most holy portions, this of theirs from the offerings made to the Lord, a perpetual law.” The Punishment for Blasphemy 10 Now a son of an Israelite woman came out, and this person was a son of an Egyptian man among the sons of Israel. And the son from an Israelite woman and an Israelite man began to fight in the camp. 11 And slandering, the son of the Israelite woman cursed the Name. And they brought them to Moses, and the name of his mother was Shelomith daughter of Dibri, from the tribe of Dan. 12 And they put him into custody to render judgment concerning him through a command of the Lord. 13 And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying, 14 “Lead out the man who cursed outside the encampment. And all the ones who heard him will place their hands on his head, and all the congregation will stone him. 15 Now speak to the people of Israel and say to them, ‘Any person whoever curses God will bear guilt. 16 And the one who names the Name of the Lord, let him be put to death; let all the assembly of Israel stone him with stones. Whether a resident alien, whether a native of Israel, when he names the Name of the Lord, to death let him die. 17 And any person who strikes down the life of a person and he dies, to death let him die 18 And whoever strikes down an animal and it dies, let him pay back life for life. 19 And whenever someone may give some kind of injury to another person, just as he did to him, likewise it will be done to him. 20 Fracture for fracture, eye for eye, tooth for tooth, just as a person gives some kind of injury, just so it will be given to him. 21 Whoever strikes down a person, and he dies, to death let him die. 22 The same just penalty will be given to the resident alien and to the native, because I myself am the Lord your God.” 23 And Moses spoke to the people of Israel, and they brought out the man who cursed the Name outside the encampment. And they stoned him with stones, and the people of Israel did just as the Lord commanded Moses.
25And the Lord spoke to Moses on Mount Sinai, saying, 2 “Instruct the sons of Israel and say to them, ‘When you enter into the land that I myself am giving to you, and the land that I myself am giving to you will have rest—Sabbaths to the Lord. 3 During six years you will sow your land, and six years you will prune your vineyard and harvest its fruit. 4 But in the seventh year, a Sabbath of rest will be for the land, a Sabbath to the Lord; you will not sow your land, and you will not prune your vineyard. 5 And the spontaneous produce of your field you will not completely reap, and you will not gather in the bunched grapes of your holy offering; it must be a oneyear rest for the land. 6 And the Sabbath of the land will be food for you and for your male servant and for your female servant and for your hired servant and for the sojourner who resides with you. 7 And for your livestock and for the wild animals in your land, all the produce of it will be for food.’” The Year of Remission 8 “‘Now count off for yourself seven resting periods of years, seven years seven times, and they will be for you seven periods of seven years, forty-nine years. 9 And you will proclaim with the sound of a trumpet throughout your whole land in the seventh month, on the tenth day of the month, on the Day of Atonement; you will signal with a trumpet throughout your whole land. 10 And sanctify the year, the fiftieth year, and loudly proclaim a time of release for the land to all those inhabiting it; this signala will be a year of remission for you, and each person will go out to his possession, and each one shall go to his country. 11 This is a signal of remission, the fiftieth year, this year will be to you. You will not sow or reap the spontaneous produce springing up of itself, and you will not gather up its sacred gifts. 12 Because it is a signal of remission, it must be holy to you; from the tilled land you will eat what has been produced of itself. 13 In the year of the remission, at the signal of it, each one will return to his property. 14 And whenever you engage in a sale to your neighbor, and whenever you purchase from your neighbor, let no person oppress his neighbor. 15 According to the number of years after the signal you will purchase from your neighbor; according to the number of years of produce it will be sold back to you. 16 According to excess of the years he will increase his property, and according to shortening of the years he will reduce his property, since by the amount of his produce so will he sell it back to you. 17 Let no person oppress his neighbor, and you will reverence the Lord your God; I myself am the Lord your God. 18 “‘And you will perform all my ordinances and all my judgments, and you will observe and perform them, and you will permanently dwell securely. 19 And the land will give its produce, and you will eat to satisfaction, and you will permanently dwell with confidence on it. 20 And if you say, “What will we eat in this seventh year if we do not sow or gather in our produce?” 21 And so, I am sending my blessing to you in the sixth year and its fruit for the three years following. 22 And you will sow in the eighth year, and you will eat from the old produce up to the ninth year; until its produce comes, you will eat the old produce of past years. 23 “‘And the land will not be sold for perpetuity, for the land is mine, since you are resident aliens, and you yourselves are sojourners in my good graces. 24 And with respect to all the land in your possession, you will provide a ransom price for the land. 25 And if your brother who is close to you becomes poor, and he will yield some of his possession, then his closest kinsman redeemer will come and buy back his brother’s sold property. 26 But if there may not be a kinsman redeemer for someone, and he prospers in his hand, and it happens for him that his ransom resource is sufficient, 27 then he will calculate the years of his sale, and he will repay exactly what he possesses to the person to whom he sold himself to him, and he will go away to his own possession. 28 But if his hand is not found with a sufficient amount in order to repay these things, then the sale to the purchaser for these things will exist until the sixth year of the time of remission; and it will cease in the time of remission, and he will depart to his own resting place. 29 “‘And if someone sells an inhabited house in a walled city, then the redemption of it will continue until its time is completed; a full year will be its redemption. 30 But if it is not redeemed until a whole year is completed for it, the house, which is in a city having a wall, will be permanently confirmed to the one purchasing it throughout its generations, and it will not be redeemed during its time of remission. 31 But the houses that are in unwalled villages, for which there is no wall around them, along beside the fields of the land, let them be counted. They will be redeemable at any time, and during the time of remission they will be available. 32 And the cities of the Levites, the houses of the cities of their possession, will be redeemable throughout all time by the Levites. 33 And whoever has redeemed from the Levites, and the sale of their houses of the city of their possession will go out in the time of remission, because the houses of the cities of the Levites are their possession in the midst of the sons of Israel. 34 And the lands set apart for their cities will not be sold, because this is their possession for all time. 35 “‘And if your brother becomes poor and is without strength in the hands, you will take him in with you as with a resident alien and with a sojourner, and your brother will live with you. 36 You will not take from him interest or any kind of fee, and you will reverence your God—I am the Lord—and your brother will live with you. 37 You will not give your silver to him for interest, and for unjust gain you will not give to him your food. 38 I am the Lord your God, who is bringing you out of the land of Egypt to give to you the land of Canaan, in order to be your God. 39 And if your brother is humbled with respect to you and is sold to you, he will not render to you the servitude of a household servant. 40 Just as a hired servant or a sojourner will be to you, he will work with you until the year of the time of remission. 41 Then he will go out in the time of remission, and his children with him, and he will go to his own kin; he will freely depart into his paternal inheritance. 42 Because they are my household servants whom I brought out from the land of Egypt, he will not be sold in a sale as a household servant. 43 You will not overwork him with labor, and you will reverence the Lord your God. 44 And a male servant and female servant, however many may become yours from the peoples, as many as are around you, from them you will acquire a male slave and a female slave. 45 And from the descendants of the sojourners who are among you, from these you will procure, even from their relatives; however many are in your land, let them become for you for a possession. 46 And you will distribute them to your children after you, and they will be your possession for perpetuity; any person of your brothers of the people of Israel will not oppress his brother with oppressive labor. 47 “‘But if the hand of the resident alien or the sojourner who is with you prospers, and your brother who has fallen into want is sold to the resident alien or to a sojourner, to the resident alien by you from birth, 48 after he has been sold to him, there will be redemption for him; one of your brothers will redeem him. 49 A brother of his father or son of a brother of his father will redeem him, or from the household of his own flesh out of his tribe will redeem him. And if it happens he prospers by his hands, he may redeem himself. 50 And he will calculate with the one who acquired him from the year that he sold himself to him, up to the year of the time of remission; and the amount of silver of his sale will be just as for a hired servant, as year to year he will be with him. 51 And whenever someone may have an excess of years, toward these years he will repay his ransom from the silver of his repurchase transaction. 52 And whenever a small number is left over from the years until the year of the time of remission, then he will bargain with him according to his years, and he will pay his ransom as a hired servant. 53 He shall be with him; year to year you shall not overwork him with the labor before you. 54 And if he may not be brought back after these rulings, he will go out in the year of the letting go, he and his children with him. 55 For the people of Israel are household servants to me; they are my servants whom I brought out from the land of Egypt.’”
26“‘I am the Lord your God: You shall not make for yourselves idols made by human hands; neither shaped stones nor a stone pillar will you set up for yourselves, nor a stone object will you erect in your land to bow down to it—I myself am the Lord your God. 2 You will observe my Sabbaths, and you will revere my holy sanctuary; I myself am the Lord. 3 “‘If in my ordinances you conduct yourselves and you keep my commandments and do them, 4 then I will give the rain to you in its season, and the land will produce its yield, and the trees of the field will produce their fruit. 5 And the harvest will overtake for you the time of gathering grapes, and the time of gathering grapes will overtake seed time, and you will eat your food to satisfaction, and you will permanently dwell with security on your land, and war will not go through your land. 6 And I will make peace in your land and you will lie peacefully, and there will not be anyone who will alarm you, and I will destroy ferocious wild beasts from your land. 7 Then you will pursue your enemies, and they will fall before you in slaughter. 8 And five from you will pursue a hundred, and a hundred of you will pursue myriads, and your enemy will fall before you by the sword. 9 And I will look on you, and I will increase you and multiply you, and I will make firm my covenant with you. 10 And you will eat the old and the very old produce, and you will clear out the old produce for the new. 11 And I will establish my covenant among you, and my soul will not abhor you. 12 Then I will walk among you and I will be your God, and you yourselves will be my people. 13 I myself am the Lord your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt when you were slaves, and I shattered the bond of your yoke and brought you out with boldness.’” Punishment Promised for Disobedience 14 “‘But if you do not obey me or observe these my commandments, 15 but disobey them, and my judgments provoke your soul so that you do not observe all my commandments, so as to turn away from my covenant, 16 then I myself will deal with you, and I will bring against you distress, both mange and jaundice and infection of your eyes and illness that wastes away your souls. And you will sow your seed in vain, and your enemies will eat it. 17 And I will set my face against you, and you will fall before the enemies, and the ones who hate you will pursue you, and you will flee even though no one is pursuing you. 18 And if you still do not obey me, then I will continue to discipline you seven times more for your sins. 19 And I will break the insolence of your pride, and I will set the heavens for you as iron and your land as bronze. 20 Then your strength will be in vain, and your land will not give forth its seed, and the fruit tree of your field will not produce its fruit. 21 Then, if after these things you conduct yourselves in your crooked ways and are not willing to obey me, I will continue to place on you plagues seven more times according to your sins. 22 And I am sending against you the wild beasts of the land, and they will devour you and destroy your livestock. And I will make you few in number, and your roads will become desolate. 23 And with respect to these things, if you are not disciplined but continue to come against me, being treacherous, 24 then I will proceed with you treacherously in wrath, and I will strike you, even I, seven times more for your sins. 25 Then I will bring on you a sword to execute justice concerning my covenant, and you will flee into your cities, and I will send forth death to you, and you will be given over into the hands of enemies. 26 During your affliction through a lack of food, at that time ten wives will bake your loaves in one oven, and they will ration your food by measure, and you will eat it, but you will not be filled. 27 “‘But if with respect to these things you do not obey me and continue to act against me treacherously, 28 then I myself will go forth after you in treacherous wrath, and I will discipline you myself, seven times according to your sins. 29 Then you will eat the flesh of your sons, and the flesh of your daughters you will eat. 30 And I will lay your sacred pillars to waste and utterly destroy your handmade wooden images, and I will put your corpses on top of the corpses of your idols, and my soul will be provoked with you. 31 And I will turn your cities into desolate places and devastate your holy things, and I will not smell of the scent of your offerings. 32 And I myself will completely devastate your land, and your enemies who live in it will marvel at it. 33 And I will scatter you into the nations, and my pursuing sword will consume you, and your land will be desolate, and your cities will be deserts. [19] 34 At that time the land will be content with its Sabbaths, and throughout the days of its desolation. And you yourselves will be in the land of your enemies; during that time the land will observe its Sabbaths, and the land will be content with its Sabbaths. 35 Throughout all the days of its desolation it will observe its Sabbaths, which it did not observe during your Sabbath years when you inhabited it. 36 And to those of you who survive, I will bring slavery into their heart in the land of their enemies, and the sound of a leaf being shaken will pursue them; and they will flee just as fleeing from battle, and they will fall when no one is pursuing. 37 Then brother will disregard brother, just as in battle when no one is running someone down, and you will not be able to stand against your enemies. 38 And you will perish among the nations, and the land of your enemies will devour you. 39 And the ones from you who survive will perish because of your sins. They will waste away in the land of their enemies. 40 And they will confess their sins and the sins of their ancestors, because they transgressed and overlooked me and because they behaved treacherously before me. 41 And I myself proceeded along with them with treacherous wrath, and I will destroy them in the land of their enemies. And their uncircumcised heart will be ashamed, and at that time they will consent to their sins. 42 And I will remember the covenant with Jacob, and the covenant with Isaac, and the covenant with Abraham I will remember; and I will remember the land. 43 And the land will have been forsaken by them. Then the land will receive its Sabbaths, when it is desolate because of them, and they themselves will receive justice on account of their transgressions because they disregarded my judgments and they were provoked at my ordinances in their soul. 44 And not even when they are in the land of their enemies, not even then will I discard them, nor will I be utterly provoked toward them to the extent of utterly destroying them so as to turn away from my covenant with them, for I myself am the Lord their God. 45 And I will remember their former covenant, when I led them out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of slavery, in the presence of the nations to be their God; I myself am the Lord. 46 “‘These are my judgments and my ordinances and the instruction which the Lord gave between him and between the sons of Israel at Mount Sinai by the hand of Moses.’”
27And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying, 2 “Speak to the sons of Israel and say to them, ‘Whoever vows a vow concerning the value of his life to the Lord, 3 the value of the male will be from twenty years up to sixty years old: his value will be fifty didrachmasa of silver according to the measure of the sanctuary. 4 But the valuation of a female will be thirty didrachmas. 5 But if the person is from five years old to twenty years old, the value of the male will be twenty didrachmas, and of the female fourteen didrachmas. 6 And from a month old to five years old the value of the male will be five didrachmas of silver, and of the female three didrachmas. 7 And if the person is from sixty years old and over, if he is male the value will be fifteen didrachmas of silver, and if female, ten didrachmas. 8 But if the person is too poor for the valuation, he will stand before the priest, and the priest will evaluate him according to the strength of the hand of the one who makes a vow. The priest will determine an evaluation for him. 9 But if it is brought forth from the livestock, from their gifts to the Lord, whoever may give from these to the Lord, it will be holy. 10 He will not exchange it, good for bad, or defective for healthy; but if he actually does end up changing it, animal for animal, it and the exchanged animal will be holy. 11 And if it is any unclean animal, from which none are offered as a gift to the Lord, he will present the animal before the priest. 12 And the priest will determine a valuation for it between good value and between bad value; and however the priest should value it, so it shall stand. 13 And if redeeming, he may redeem it; he will add a fifth to its value. 14 “‘Now any person who consecrates his house as holy to the Lord, then the priest will value it; whether it is of excellent or of little value, as the priest will value it, so it will stand. 15 And whenever the one who has consecrated it would redeem his house, he will add to it a fifth of the silver of the valuation, and it will be his. 16 “‘And if a person consecrates from the field of his possession to the Lord, then its value will be according to its seed: a kor of barley for fifty didrachmas of silver. 17 And if he consecrates his field during the year of the time of remission, it will stand according to its valuation. 18 And if finally, after the time of release, he consecrates his field, the priest will calculate to his benefit the silver with respect to the years remaining until the year of the time of remission; and he will take a deduction from his stated valuation. 19 And if the one buying it would redeem the field, then he will add a fifth of the silver to its valuation, and it shall be his. 20 But if he would not redeem his field and sells his field to another person, he may no longer redeem it. 21 But the field will be released during the time of remission. It is holy to the Lord as land set off as holy; it will belong to the priest as a possession. 22 And if from a field that he has purchased that is not from a field of his possession he shall sanctify to the Lord, 23 the priest will calculate for him the complete portion of the price from the year of the time of remission, and he will pay the full price on that day; it is holy to the Lord. 24 And in the year of the time of remission, the field will be given back to the person from whom he has acquired it, whose was the possession of the land. 25 And every valuation will be by the holy weights; the didrachma will be twenty obels.a 26 “‘Now every firstborn that is born among your livestock will be the Lord’s, and no one will consecrate it; whether either a young bull or whether a sheep, it is the Lord’s. 27 And if he will exchange it from the unclean fourfooted animals based on its valuation, then he will add a fifth of its value to it, and it will be his; but if he would not redeem it, it will be sold according to its assessment. 28 “‘And every dedicated thing, whatever a person has presented to the Lord from all the things that are his—from any person, from the livestock and from the field of his possession—will not be sold nor will it be redeemed; every dedicated thing will be holy of holies to the Lord. 29 And anything that may be devoted from people will not be redeemed but to death it will die. 30 “‘Every tithe of the land, from the seed of the land and the fruit of the tree, is the Lord’s, holy to the Lord. 31 And if a person would redeem his tithe with a ransom price, a fifth of its value he will add to it, and it will be his. 32 And every tenth of oxen and of sheep, and anything that comes in the numbering by the staff, the tenth will be holy to the Lord. 33 You will not exchange a fair animal for a bad one, but if you do exchange it, then its exchanged animal will be holy; it will be not redeemed.’” 34 These are the commandments that the Lord commanded to Moses for the people of Israel on Mount Sinai.
