2 Baruch 48:34

Syriac Apocalypse of Baruch
Pseudepigrapha

32 And it shall come to pass in those days that all the inhabitants of the earth shall be moved one against another, because they know not that My judgement has drawn nigh. 33 For there shall not be found many wise at that time, And the intelligent shall be but a few: Moreover, even those who know shall most of all be silent. 34 And there shall be many rumours and tidings not a few, And the doings of phantasmata shall be manifest, And promises not a few be recounted. Some of them (shall prove) idle, And some of them shall be confirmed. 35 And honour shall be turned into shame, And strength humiliated into contempt, And probity destroyed, And beauty shall become ugliness. 36 And many shall say to many at that time: "Where hath the multitude of intelligence hidden itself, And whither hath the multitude of wisdom removed itself?"

Matthew 24:6

New Testament

4 Jesus answered them, “Watch out that no one misleads you. 5 For many will come in my name, saying, ‘I am the Christ,’ and they will mislead many. 6 You will hear of wars and rumors of wars. Make sure that you are not alarmed, for this must happen, but the end is still to come. 7 For nation will rise up in arms against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. And there will be famines and earthquakes in various places. 8 All these things are the beginning of birth pains.

"... Charles (The Apocalypse of Baruch, 49) indicates that 4 Ezra 14:11, 12 provides a similar twelvefold division of history, though here Baruch is limited to tribulations prior to the advent of the Messiah. Similar lists of such 'woes' are found elsewhere: 2 Baruch 48:31-36; Matthew 24:6-29; 2 Timothy 3:1, Jubilees 23:13, 16-25; 4 Ezra 5:1-12; 6:14-18; 1 Enoch 91:12-17 ..."
